The Shadow Cat is probably one of the most commonly seen medium 'mech in a Clan force nowadays, but it wasn't always the case. During the early days of Operation REVIVAL, Clan Nova Cat was not present and people preferred using the Ice Ferret.
It was after the Battle of Luthien and Tukayyid that the Shadow Cat made its presence known, and all Toumans began adopting it as the 45 tons mech of choice!

Don't you dare change the music. It's dumb fun
Now I'm trying to remember which silly song I picked from the TH-cam free songs lol.
Shadowcat got me here, music got my subscription
@@ProfessorHeyTeeEnprobably titled Medium hot chillies or the like
Oh, hell yeah. Love the Shadow Cat. Absolutely nasty little medium 'mech that I used a lot in MW4 Mercs.
It's a seriously great medium with a lot of potential.
Can't make the MASC pod based as it requires the fine tuning of the myomer to work with the MASC control system. It is technically doable, but it requires extensive work on the mech making it counterintuitive to put it on an Omni.
It is also one of the reasons why a Supercharger is easy as you only need to plug it into the engine where ever there is space.
I do agree for omnis, jump jets should be optional rather than hard wired, and the Clanners, especially Jade Falcons, are learning that with their Grand Summoners, Hierofalcons, Jade Phoenix, and the previously mentioned Shadow Cat III. Some other omnis I would love to see get the same treatment (both Inner Sphere and Clan) but we are unlikely to see them.
Awesome video! I'll take the prime all day long
I've come to appreciate the double ER Large Laser version, at least for raider roles.
Love this from Mechwarrior 4: Vengeance, but config D was a little off. Would normally do 2 er Large Lasers, backed up with streak6 and some IS mediums.
Strange to think of it now being primarily a Dragon design. Huh. Nova Cats got done dirty by Kurita... but that puts them in good company I guess...
Great video!
I think I first saw this mech in Mechwarrior 3, and I loved it from then on.
Nova Cats backed the wrong Kurita during a leadership struggle. Oops!
My rich uncle has a Shadow Cat he named Kitty Pryde. I have no idea why.
Shadowcat is a member of the Xmen. Her real name is Kitty Pride. It's funny because Nova Cat are also very prideful kitties.
Love your work
mercury had a laser that was plug and play, the Mercury II went farther, then the Coyotl was just an evolution of Clan Wolverine technology.
Such a great little mech
Well, medium mech.
But semantics.
I generally like the Schadow Cat chassis. It has a good balance of mobility, protection and pod space and it also looks very good.
However, I find many of the configurations quite underwhelming, e.g. for the prime it would have been much more reasonale to mount an ER-PPC as the main weapon, add a TC and heat sinks.
The clan ER-PPC has almost the same performance as a gauss rifle but it is not ammo limited nor does it explode when damaged. For a medium clan Mech dealing with the heat of a single ER-PPC should be no issue.
From the "standard" configurations I would probably prefer the "A" and "D" versions.
Personally I would mount 2 LPL, 2 ER-ML and 3 extra heat sinks OR
1 ER-PPC, 2 MPL, TC, SSRM-6 and one extra heat sink.
Great thing about omnimechs is that unlike "regular battlemechs", you can do anything you want with them, as long as it fits in the pod space.
Why do u think the B is weird? The unit can fight very effectively at range 5 which puts enemies in ECCM range, which allows the Artemis to be enabled even against enemies with ECM. Probes are light, and being able to find enemies as a scout mech(which is what the Shadow Cat really is, even if it is a rather heavily armed one) is good.
It uses the most efficient configuration of LRMs available and 2 of the best lasers in the game to back it up since they are light on heat and tonnage.
ECM and probes are really good in certain conditions, such as night fighting, desert storms, city fight, or other conditions where visual and sensor range is limited.
I just never used a missile support unit for electronic warfare, to be honest, but those are all good reasons to use the Configuration B!
@@ProfessorHeyTeeEn 100%. I look at clan LRMs as brawling weapons tbh. They are great at range 14 but get very good mileage at range 7, especially with the Artemis.
Leave the music it's a bop
When I used to play hero clicks DA mechwarrior game that was my mech of choice the low cost the weapons 2x large lasers and it’s high roll numbers generally lets me mangle heavier mechs allowing me to capture mech with my extra infantry units due to my low cost mech by the time my opponent knew what happened I was piloting a stolen mech of the table for keeps not all games but some were and not to mention all the championship prizes I won that little mech was my fav
It seems that Configuration A is a general favorite.
