    One thing that bothers me to no end is why did Toyota only reserve the lighter and more power dense Lithium-Ion battery for the cheaper LE (and gets great MPG) while the more expensive SE & XLE only get the older Nickel-metal Hydride battery. Take a look at the Accord Hybrid, Sonata Hybrid, Fusion Hybrid & Malibu Hybrid and they ALL use Li-Ion batteries across the board, regardless of trim level.
    I mean, look at all the pure electric cars or Plug-in hybrids out there - ALL of them from the Nissan Leaf to the Tesla Model X use Li-Ion batteries. Even Toyota is not exempt - the uplevel Prius & Prius Prime all utilize Li-Ion batteries. So why cheap out for the Camry Hybrid?

    • @jean-phil
      @jean-phil 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      "According to Prius chief engineer Shoichi Kaneko, in an interview this past week at the LA Auto Show, most of Toyota’s current hybrid lineup are capable of easily trading off between the two battery types for one chief reason: flexibility. In being compatible with either one, the company can more smoothly react at a factory or vehicle level to supply shortages or price pinches-for raw materials like lithium or nickel, for instance."

    • @sudhirraom
      @sudhirraom 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jean-phil Okay that is good explanation. Now answer the question Trades46 asked. Why Li-Ion only for the lower trim :)

    • @SilverIndian
      @SilverIndian 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because nickel is better reliable - stable through time & in large changes of temperatures, than lithium.
      Also, when needs to be changed with new battery pack ,is much cheaper.

Am soo confused which one to pick coz am that type of a person who wants sportier looking car with high end fully loaded interior..Hopefully XSE is on the way!

    Has Toyota consider making a CAMRY HYBRID XSE V6? Or at least a Camry Hybrid XSE with the Quad Exhausts, also with the Two Tone Color with the Black Roof Top, and the nicer rims of the XSE? Now that's a Camry Hybrid that I would buy over an Accord Hybrid in a Heart Beat.
    Please let me know if this is something that Toyota has Considered.

      I am considering upgrading from my 16 Camry Hybrid. How many mpgs do you average? When you fill up, how many miles of driving range do you get? I see on the 18 and up Camry Hybrids, the tank size is 13 gallons. Mine said 17 but the most ever put into my car was like 15.5. Sorry for so many questions. Thank You!!

      John Dooris I wish it was possible. Toyota decided not to put the lithium ion battery in the other trim levels because with so much equipment it raised the weight and it wouldn’t have helped the gas mileage as much as with just the LE trim level
