I know its outside the budget, but Reshape the Earth will get all your gates on to the battlefield if you can cast it. Shouldn't be too difficult with Ramos helping out.
My take on a mazes end deck: first sliver as commander, tibalts trickery and primal surge as spells, mazes end and deserted temple as wincon and a bunch of lands including all gates
Once Golos got banned, I considered using Ramos as the new head for my Maze's End commander deck. If Nine-Fingers Keene wasn't leaked already, this probably would have made me rebuild it
Sure, but there's got to be at least 9 gates in the colors for the card to function properly. As long as there's one more, it works just fine. Plus it losing white and red isn't a huge drawback imo. You lose stuff like Weathered Wayfarer and Tomik in white, but that doesn't seem like a huge drawback
That's entirely possible, technically there's only 4 gates available in the colors right now. We know of 3 more due to the commander legends 2 leaks, making it 7. So there's at least two more, probably in commander legends 2, that haven't been leaked/spoiled yet. It's really unlikely to me that there won't be another one (making 10 total.) But if there ends up only being 9 gates in the colors, then it doesn't work (aside from doing some real dumb things like animating a gate and copying it with Sakashima the Impostor, which would make the deck way too annoying to actually use lol)
@@Buchaus I am pretty sure there is going to be a rare or at least uncommon Gate land cycle along with the common gates that were leaked. Worst case if this doesn't happen, Keene will be an interesting alternative way to build gates decks besides just Maze's End.
Reshape the Earth, Amulet of Vigor, Scapeshift, Exploration, Field of the Dead, Cultivator Colossus, Life from the Loam, Burgeoning, Tolaria West, Wrenn and Seven, all the expensive black tutors, Dark Depths/Thespian's Stage, and lots and lots of board wipes. Board wipes that hit all nonland permanents are better than normal because your progress toward a winning board state is mostly just your lands. You can borrow tricks from decks like Lands and Niv To Light.
I had a Maze's End deck with Golos, that I took apart after he got banned. It was far from budget though. If budget is not a concern I would recommend that every land except the gates is a basic, and then ramp into them like crazy. My personal favorite ramp card is Traverse the Outlands, super good when you already have a Wayward Swordtooth out. After that, get out an Amulet of Vigor and Scapeshift your way into all the gates you need, and Maze's End, which will all untap thanks to the Amulet and you win right there. Bring to Light is amazing as it can grab Scapeshift. I may remake this deck once Baulder's Gate comes out. I think Archelos, Lagoon Mystic might have a good place in it as well, as another Amulet of Vigor effect.
Garth One-Eye is a good choice of commander for this. He's a toolbox that can Regrowth a destroyed land, refill your hand with Braingeyser, and destroy stuff. Untappers such as Fatestitcher and Vizier of Tumbling Sands can untap Garth, Baldur's Gate, or Maze's End to win with it the turn it comes down.
Even Dominaria United had one more Gate in it. You can really pack a deck with Gates now so that you're drawing many of them naturally without having to search for them.
I really want to make a Ramos deck based around Legacy Weapon, Peregrine Dynamo, Fist of Suns, Lithoform Engine, and Doubling Cube. So assuming you have Legacy Weapon, Peregrine Dynamo, Lithoform Engine, and Doubling Cube, as well as Ramos with 5 +1/+1 counters, you can do the following. Remove the counters from Ramos to get WWUUBBRRGG. Double that with Doubling Cube. Activate the Legacy Weapon 4 times, then use Lithoform Engine to copy that ability an additional time, then activate Peregrine Dynamo to copy the copying ability of Lithoform Engine. If you have Voltaic key or some other way to untap artifacts, you can then conceivably untap peregrine Dynamo to copy legacy weapon an additional time. Even without untapping shenanigans, this still results in you just straight up exiling any six permanents you want. And this combo only gets *more* rediculous the more counters you have on Ramos. If you something like Doubling Season and another counter doubler up, then cast, say, a Fusion Elemental, or even just Darksteel Forge using Gauntlet of Suns, you get 20 counters. This gives you 8x WUBRG, so a total of 40 mana. Doubling Cube turns that into 80 mana, or 16 permanents exiled. With Peregrine Dynamo and Lithoform Engine, that number goes up to 18, and with Voltaic Key, you can conceivably exile 20+ permanents. Now is this an efficient use of 80 mana? Fuck no, you could be torment of hailfire-ing them instead, or banefire, or storm king’s thunder and time stretch, or a 60 power/toughness Stonecoil Serpent, Fireshrieker, and Lightning Greaves. Hell, you could Play Exsanguinate and kill everyone, or all three Eldrazi Titans + Blightsteel Colossus, and Darksteel Colossus AND still have enough mana left over to cast Progenitus.
I have a budget Ramos deck that’s Charm tribal with Maze’s End as an alternative win condition. Surprisingly powerful
