hi! for any of those who have a newer firmware of cricut design space, this doesn't exactly work. but i found another work around! if it won't let you "make it" with a machine selection other than a joy because you don't have one set up (because you don't have one), then do this. save and exit your project, then go to your "my projects" and while having a print-then-cut machine setting selected, select the project file and select "make it" there. it should go to the same page as the video and you will be able to print without a print-then-cut machine! hope this helps ^^
It worked! Thank you so much!! I was panicking because I finally got an order in for one of my stickers and I thought I'd have to cancel it, you're a life saver!
My boyfriend surprised me with a cricut joy.... FINALLY, my very own cricut... he knows I'm planner OBSESSED and watches me hand cut my printable stickers all the time so this was so thoughtful... then I read the joy doesn't do print then cut and I Pqnicked. I didn't want to tell him this wasn't going to work for what he bought it for. Super grateful for this tutorial. Thank you so much
Y'all! I am a newbie! I splurged and bought a Joy. I had NO idea what I was doing, but was on a budget, so I splurged and bought a Joy. I'm watching this video and understanding now a little more about things. I'm a crafter/designer, maker of all things (for fun) and I have long painted designs on fabrics. I got an idea to use my Cricut for the very first time. (She's not new.) It wasn't until I saw this video that I realized it wasn't going to work! This is awesome, Becca! Thank you!! You provided the solution before I realized I had a problem. I still (obviously) have NO idea what I'm doing, so I'm sure glad I found this video. All help is greatly welcomed! Thank you! You guys are geniuses!
I’ve had a Joy for two years. I hardly use it because the software makes everything so hard - when I bought it to make things easier! This is a great tutorial and breaks things down really well. Thank you!
I was considering purchasing a Cricut Joy but after researching, discovered some limitations. After watching this, my mind was blown!💥 I checked out your channel and my mind was blown again! 💥 💥 Couldn’t subscribe fast enough. Thanks for sharing your crafty knowledge!
giving you a virtual hug!! i got a cricut joy machine for christmas because im starting my own business and didnt realize the cricut joy doesnt have the print and cut feature. you were genuinely so helpful. thank you!!
I don't have a Joy, but know many people who do! I love a hack that is actually a hack! You ladies rock! I've shared your video to a FB group I moderate! Love you gals!
Don’t have a Joy but watched anyway. I feel compelled to watch everything O&L does. Love all their videos-live, organic, and premieres! Becca, Rachel, and Anna rock! Don’t want to miss a thing they do💚🐑#355
Wonderful tutorial Becca. I appreciate that you did the entire process in Design Space. Thank you. Wishing you and the Oak and Lamb team a super week. Hugs, Susan
I just got my Joy a few days ago because i prefer a smaller machine over the others. Ive made a few cups and customized my kitchen already lol i was interested in making print and cut stickers and your video is extremely helpful! I cannot wait to try this out. Thank you so much for this.💞💞💞

I am so thrilled!!!! This is an awesome tutorial and so easy to follow. I am so glad you figured this out and took the time to share it with the rest of us. I truly appreciate that you did the entire process in Design Space because I am not familiar with the other apps out there. I love my Cricut JOy and wanted so badly to be able to do print then cut and now I can thanks to you!!! 🥰
Great video and easy to follow and glad you only used Design Space. I have an old Cricut Expression machine and a new Joy which I love! I'm so excited to be able to make print and cut stickers! I love how you show to flatten an SVG file, as I know NOTHING about SVG files! Thank you so much!
Also, the max amount of bookmarks i can cut because of how big the mats are for the Joy, i could only do 3 2"6" correct? 2 on top then one fliped to horizontal on under the two on top, right?
I have a question can you remove the pen mark on your matt without removing the sticky side? Or are these lines staying there forever now? Or is there another way to do it?
Hey! So the point of adding the lines is so it will stay there for a long time. The lines aren't hurting your mat and it won't ruin any projects you make on the mat. There is no need to remove the lines.
I love this I've watched 20 videos on this topic and this is by far the best! My question is what if I use regulars printable sticker paper. What do I put for material and pressure. I'm scared to mess with pressure because a project I did with Iron on Vinyl tore to shreds when I hit more. Also what if I want a "kiss cut"? Thanks.
I was looking for the same thing. At 6:57 she tells you that you have to offset (which looks like its the same thing as kisscut) and walks you through it. Right before this she changed the machine type (she said it doesn't matter either explore or maker). Good luck! I'm waiting on my printer ink to get delivered so I can't try it yet 😕
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this technique. I'm an elementary teacher and as a class store option, I offer to make my students custom stickers if they want. All I have is the typical permanent vinyl for Cricut and I knew that there must be some workaround to print and cut stickers with the Joy, but I wasn't skilled enough to find it. I have looked at countless TH-cam videos for something easy enough to follow and your explanation is perfect! I can't wait to make s tickers for my students. Thank you again!
This was awesome, time consuming yes , but well worth it. Can you find a hack for printable heat transfer vinyl for cricut joy. I love the portability of the joy and the size for small projects, which I find disappointing that @cricut didn't think to add at least those options.
This happens often in Design Space. It WILL print correctly regardless of what the preview looks like, but you can click cancel and reopen the print preview and it's usually fixed :)
Loved this video! I’ve never used a Joy so… I know nothing. You are so easy to listen to and your directions are very specific. I’m going to follow you and see what else I can learn. Thank you so much!
Omg thank you so much for this tutorial :) I already had maker 3 but I recently bought a joy because it would be easier to take with me to an art group for innercity youth but I was at a loss as to how to do more engaging projects with it other than cards and small vinyl. Thank you again.
I have a few questions: Why is the black border needed on the mat? (I’ve seen someone not draw the border on the mat and just kept it on their paper and it cut perfectly fine) On my iPad, why doesn’t it let me click on other options such as group, ungroup, attach, detach, flatten etc? Why does it keep saying this project is not supported by my current machine when I try to use the joy?
The drawn black boarder is just so you can be sure you're placing your paper perfectly onto the mat. If you can place it perfectly without the black border, go for it :) For your next question, it's hard to say why some features can't be used on your device, but most of the time it depends on the file type you import. For your last question, it's because the Joy cannot be used for Print Then Cut... that's why you have to switch your machine to an Explore or Maker :) Hope this helps!
I have been doing this print n' hack for a long time...your vid' is great! However, having not done it for about 2 months, I can't figure out WHY I follow every step but even after selecting Maker (instead of Cricut Joy) to print ...NO PRINTER shows up! I always just sent it to my printer which of course is connected via blue tooth. Any suggestions for getting the Cricut to recognize my printer??????
Hello! So this is actually a printer issue not a Cricut issue. You'll need to go into your printer settings on your device and make sure it's connected. Also sometimes we use the Cricut cord and plug it into our printer to connect them via a cord instead of blue tooth. Hope this helps!
Thank you for this!! Have only had my joy a couple of months and only used a couple of times for vinyl cutting. So excited to try this 😊 How do I add one of the other machines without actually adding it? 🤔 thank you!!
Hi! Great video. We followed your step by step and everything was good until the time for a cut when it said project is incompatible with JOY. Do you know why we can’t cut? Thanks
Hi Becca, after changing my machine setting to Cricut Maker 3 and click on "Make", it keeps asking me to setup the machine which cannot be done because I do not have the machine. What should I do in order to bypass this setup. Thanks!
On version 8 of the circuit design space, when i switched my machine type to the explore 3, after pressing “make” it asked me to set up my explore 3 machine. How do i continue without owning the explore 3?
Loved your video. Thanks for all the tips and tricks. I’m hoping you can help me. I want to create a design with printable iron on and use the print then cut feature… unfortunately, I don’t have a printer at home right now. Can I print the design with register marks on a printer not near my Cricut. And then once, I get home…start design space again and then cut my design? Thanks, Dottie
You wouldn't connect your printer to the Cricut, you would connect it to the device you're using for Design Space :) You can do this in the printer settings menu on your device :)
Hello! Thank you for the helpful video. I was wondering if a lighter pressure would let you create a sticker sheet rather than cut individual stickers?
This is a very easy tutorial, thank you! Do you have to use the long mat? If I'm not going to be creating a print then cut sticker sheets no bigger than the small one? Can I follow all the steps except use the smaller mat? Also what would the setting be if you wanted to kiss cut?

This tutorial was great and it worked for me, thanks! Now if I can only find printable vinyl paper that is smaller than 8.5x11. So I don't waste paper when I cut it out after printing.
Thank you for sharing this hack with us. I have a Cricut Joy, and I can't figure out the settings to be able to enjoy crafting with it. Btw I don't own a newer version of Cricut cutting machines.
Grabbed a Cricut Joy that was on sale, in hopes of making stickers and such to slap onto things I make, gonna have this video on hand to repeat when I get around to that! I'm curious if the worry about the border would work out better if the outlines of the stickers were extended out/made really thick? I've worked with textures for video games where that's done to hide minor rendering inaccuracies, so I might try that with this technique here.
Hi Maam, Thank you for this informative video tips especially for us beginners/newbies. But just a quick question, I tried to follow the steps you've mentioned but when Im about to print my project, it prompted that Machine setup required. I chose Explore 3. That's why I cant proceed with the printing. I hope you could help me out. thanks so much in advance. God bless
Wow. I really enjoyed this tutorial. I was surprised after watching another video and purchasing my downloadable decal before knowing that Cricut Joy does not support print and cut. Now the video I saw was using a clear vinyl to print and cut. And then you place on product with transfer paper. Would your process still work ? Do you have a printed version of the instructions?
I JUST bought the Cricut Explore 3, because I thought I couldn't do the print/cut feature on my Cricut Joy and I need it for my small business. I wish I would have seen this 2 days ago 🤣. Oh well... I love my new Cricut ❤️. I still have my Cricut Joy, so I'm going to try to do this tomorrow. Thank you for making this video 😊.
HI! Love the video! Quick question, when using the pen to create the outline on the mat, do you take the clear seal off the mat? Sorry, I am a total newbie.
Hello may I ask how do you change the machine on an ipad I don’t have a computer so I use an ipad but I don’t know how to change the machine? Is there a way to change it in an ipad or no I need a computer?
The option is right when you open Design Space on your device, you'll click on the hamburger menu in the top left of the screen and click on "machine selection" :)
You will need an inkjet printer and yes we used printable vinyl (sticker paper). I would encourage you to rewatch the video. Pause the video each time I do a step and then you can perform the step. That will help for sure. :)
Thank you for your video. Can you use a thin offset within the design without doing it on the outside? I tried making the lines transparent to get a detached look for parts of the design, and it didn't print out well at all; some of the small pieces broke off the design. I'm using the design for salt water etching and wanted a little space between every connection to show what the design is instead of an outline cut only of the design . I used smart vinyl and contact paper and got the same result for both.
Hi, I’ have followed everything in the video but when it came to the printing and selecting a different machine it doesn’t allow me, it gives me a message “ looks like you still need to set up your printer.. “ how do I go about this ?
hi! for any of those who have a newer firmware of cricut design space, this doesn't exactly work. but i found another work around! if it won't let you "make it" with a machine selection other than a joy because you don't have one set up (because you don't have one), then do this. save and exit your project, then go to your "my projects" and while having a print-then-cut machine setting selected, select the project file and select "make it" there. it should go to the same page as the video and you will be able to print without a print-then-cut machine! hope this helps ^^
How did you save it to your “my projects” cuz it won’t even let me do that

What a great video! It's quick and to the point, great hack and tutorial, thank you!

Vanessa is correct! Thank you for watching and commenting :)
Thank you so much, Sweet Vanessa!
Will the frame that you used the Joy to draw on your mat rub off? Do you have to do that every time?
It will not come off easily at all :) So no, you do not have to draw it on every time
Thank you! I've been trying to figure this out and your tutorial worked great!
We're so glad it was helpful for you!
Hmmm...very interesting. I keep my Joy on my desk at work so maybe this will be my next lunchtime challenge 😊 Thanks Becca!
Awe that's a great Idea, Cheri!

This was awesome, time consuming yes , but well worth it. Can you find a hack for printable heat transfer vinyl for cricut joy. I love the portability of the joy and the size for small projects, which I find disappointing that @cricut didn't think to add at least those options.
Love your video! For some reason when I get to the print preview, my images are distorted?
This happens often in Design Space. It WILL print correctly regardless of what the preview looks like, but you can click cancel and reopen the print preview and it's usually fixed :)
@@OakAndLamb you are awesome! thanks so much for your help!
This video was amazing. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I can’t wait to start making stickers with my Joy!
will the boarder drawn on the mat interupt any other projects placed on this mat
It will not :)
Just got a cricut joy after wanting one for a few years. I am obsessed! I want to put a decal on everything hahaha

wow thanks for this video. terrible faff but doable. I had no idea you could do this. I'll give it a try
When you were ready to Cut you I flattened a few images. Was that because they were SVG
Correct! :)
Why were some SVG and others not and does it matter ?
Omg thank you so much for this tutorial :) I already had maker 3 but I recently bought a joy because it would be easier to take with me to an art group for innercity youth but I was at a loss as to how to do more engaging projects with it other than cards and small vinyl. Thank you again.
You are so welcome! Glad it helped!
You are amazing! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills. May God bless you and your team.
This was so informative and you do an excellent job of explaining everything, even to a complete beginner like me!! Thank you. ❤
I have a few questions: Why is the black border needed on the mat? (I’ve seen someone not draw the border on the mat and just kept it on their paper and it cut perfectly fine)
On my iPad, why doesn’t it let me click on other options such as group, ungroup, attach, detach, flatten etc?

The drawn black boarder is just so you can be sure you're placing your paper perfectly onto the mat. Super helpful! Thank you! I have a question though. If I was going to print on a printer not connected, how would I do that?
You would need to set your printer up on your device in the settings of that device :)
Went from thinking I wouldn't be able to make stickers on the cricket joy, to oh my God I could make stickers on the cricket joy! Thank you for this.
I have been doing this print n' hack for a long time...your vid' is great! You can print on a printer not near your Cricut from a device with the saved project on it :)
This is a great video thank you. How do I connect my printer to the critcut? I have a joy
You wouldn't connect your printer to the Cricut, you would connect it to the device you're using for Design Space :) You can do this in the printer settings menu on your device :)
It wont print the boarder for me in the newer design space. Its v7.32.125. Can you make an updated video?
Great job! That’s way to much for me. I’ll continue stickers on my maker.
So so glad that you found a way to do it.
Of course! If you have another machine the print then cut feature is MUCH easier on those machines haha. Thanks for watching!
Hello! Thank you for the helpful video. I was wondering if a lighter pressure would let you create a sticker sheet rather than cut individual stickers?
Thank you very much for this brilliant explanation! How do I clean the mat to get rid of the black squares once I'm done with the project?

I am so darn excited learning from you has been a blessing... THANK YOU!!!
Is there a way to use the rest of the sticker sheet so that it is not wasted? Perhaps another cut size for a second pass through?
I had the same problem yeah just cut it and then reuse the rest
Wow that is amazing, I don't have a joy,but for those who have on this is great, ty
You're so sweet, Connie!
Love this! Question: What would be the dimensions of the frame if I were using the smaller standard mat that comes with the joy?
I JUST bought the Cricut Explore 3, because I thought I couldn't do the print/cut feature on my Cricut Joy and I need it for my small business. I wish I would have seen this 2 days ago 🤣. Oh well... I love my new Cricut ❤️. I still have my Cricut Joy, so I'm going to try to do this tomorrow. Thank you for making this video 😊.
Did it work?
Thank you so much! Being on a limited income I didn't think I'd be able to afford a cutting machine for stickers. Now I'm so happy
HI! Love the video! Quick question, when using the pen to create the outline on the mat, do you take the clear seal off the mat? Sorry, I am a total newbie.
The plastic protector sheet? Yes you remove it :) Feel free to ask anything here, we love beginners!
Once u draw on the mat with the pen? How to remove the draw marks for future use?
@@lynnyap1646 You don’t. That’s why we recommend designating a mat specifically for this. :)
Can this be used with Laser printer sticker paper??
Thank you for sharing! I followed another tutorial and had issues but this did the trick for me and a few less steps 👏🏼👏🏼
Fantastic, easy to follow tutorial. Much appreciated.
Thank you so much, lovely!!! Easy to follow instructions. My stickers turned out fantastic 😊
We're so glad you were able to enjoy this video!
Thank you for this. I want to start a sticker shop on etsy and wasn't sure how to do this on my cricut joy
Thx
Great video! I dont understand how to print the image first. Are you using sticker paper? Do I have to use a inkjet printer?
You will need an inkjet printer and yes we used printable vinyl (sticker paper). I would encourage you to rewatch the video. Pause the video each time I do a step and then you can perform the step. That will help for sure. :)
@@OakAndLamb thank you for your quick response and help!!
“ how do I go about this ?
thanks for this nice hack! Could you explain again why the printable vinyl equals heavy cardstock? Is it that thick?
Hi, Can you help let me ? Where did you purchased your peg boards system. It look so organized and makes a statement . Thank you
Hi! Thanks for the video. I am new to cricut and I’m a bit confused as to what kind of paper was used to print the stickers. Can anyone help?
Hi!!! It’s printable vinyl (sticker paper). Check the description for a link!❤️❤️
