Ralph Fiennes should have gotten the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for this. He was absolutely convincing and his role drove home the evil of those six years.

The movie definitely portrays göth as a evil psychopath which he was, but it doesn’t even scratch the surface. Göth was so brutal that even members of his own camp had recommended he be sent to a SS mental hospital. I remember reading one survivors story about him scolding a child for defecating his pants. He ordered the child to defecate in front of the formation. Than after humiliating the child and treating him like a barnyard animal he executed him and joyfully laughed. Göth’s evil had no limits.
I don’t think people realize how realistic the deaths in this movie are. When someone gets shot and dies, they don’t dramatically fall back, they slouch and fall to the ground exactly how they did in this movie
The way people died like someone else mentioned is too realistic, most films have them do some weird fall or some heroic last stand, but this is how it really is. No second chance, no last battle, just drop, dead, and gone.

The headshots are so realistic in this movie. It’s scary af watching those bodies jolt and drop. If I just seen a clip and didn’t know it was a movie I’d have really believed it was footage of an execution

Every society has people that can do this kind of evil. All it takes is for the authorities to say it's okay. It is usually done via the affirming that one group of people is righteous by default, and another group is bad by default. Not in the political sense necessarily, but by birthright more often. It's harder to target ideas but easier to target heritage. Sorry in advance to bring modern politics into this, but yeah there is a reason why many people were deeply concerned with some of the things trump was saying and the way his crowd was reacting.

When it strikes one that those people are like one's neighbors, workmates, or even oneself, it becomes terrifying. Those average families with children trying to get by. Maybe they read stories to their children at night, had conversations with neighbors, shared recipes, and were honorable soldiers. These people were brainwashed, twisted, manipulated, and desensitized until they could perform atrocities. Did we not too long ago have Americans calling for Jewish genocide? The attention to detail in SL is hauntingly amazing, theres the Polish Salute scene, all the scenes of the corpses being burned with haunting detail, and scenes like this, there’s no exaggerated movements when a person gets shot in the head, they just drop, there’s no spazzing around or anything, it just all stops

There's an interview with Rafe and Embeth Davidtz that just surprised me. Both actors were equal to their roles. A few years later, Embeth was in Matilda and Rafe was in Quiz show. Steven Spielberg wasn't pulling any punches with his direction here in emphasising the depravity the human race is all too easily capable of, by being as near to 100% percent accurate as possible. How we are more accustomed to seeing someone getting shot in film/television is a depiction of how most people imagine it to be and tend to play on dramatisations, but in reality, a kill shot especially to the head is almost like the skeleton ceases to exist hence the body usually collapses straight down.

It's crazy to me that such cruel people can exist. I try to rationalize and think "maybe something happened to make them this way." But some people really are just evil.

Every society has people that can do this kind of evil. All it takes is for the authorities to say it's okay. It is usually done via the affirming that one group of people is righteous by default, and another group is bad by default. Not in the political sense necessarily, but by birthright more often. It's harder to target ideas but easier to target heritage.

I have seen a documentary how the German people were turned, particularly the military. One I would insist that people see, especially the youth. When it strikes one that those people are like one's neighbors, workmates, or even oneself, it becomes terrifying. Those average families with children trying to get by. Maybe they read stories to their children at night, had conversations with neighbors, shared recipes, and were honorable soldiers. These people were brainwashed, twisted, manipulated, and desensitized until they could perform atrocities.

Steven Spielberg wasn't pulling any punches with his direction here in emphasising the depravity the human race is all too easily capable of, by being as near to 100% percent accurate as possible.
How we are more accustomed to seeing someone getting shot in film/television is a depiction of how most people imagine it to be and tend to play on dramatisations, but in reality, a kill shot especially to the head is almost like the skeleton ceases to exist hence the body usually collapses straight down.
