I've found that shortening my backswing a little works well when I am struggling.

I shorten it to the equivalent of a putting stroke.
It makes the game a little longer, maybe six hours. But at least I’m in play and can find the ball….

Golf IQ lowered my handicap way more than my physical skills have. This channel has been a huge help for that

I play like this now. Don't go for the hero shot all the time, middle of the green - course management is key and I've found myself being far more consistent tee to green. Putting..........well that's another story 😂

First step is a driver less than 45". So many of our fellow weekend duffers spray drives everywhere with a 45 1/2" or 45 3/4" driver.

2:37 my local course doesn’t have a range. It can be like a bag of skittles the first few tee shots.

The first key in playing golf is knowing your own limits....and when in doubt, don't be too proud to tee off with a 7-iron.

No, no it's not. Read "every shot counts"

I find most amateurs add strokes by bad decisions not bad swings. This is a circular problem because a shot in a bad place leads to a miracle attempt which leads a shot outside of their skill set and then another poor shot follows.

It’s funny the discussion is about golf iq and they talk about average carry distances but do not account for distance variance - knowing the average without factoring variance is not all too useful because for the same average carry a player may still come up short 30 or even 40% of times.

Stop trying to make birdies and pars and accept that Bogey is a good score.
    play for nett par instead
Nett par is adjusting your par.On those holes wher you get a handicap stroke.
So being on for 2 on par 3
    3 on par 4
    4 on par 5.

What about laying up to your favorite yardage into a short par 4 or a long par 5? Most amateurs don’t have a 40, 50 60 yard half wedge/feel shot. Laying back to a more full shot like 100, 120, 140 whatever they may be will give you a better shot at shooting a lower score.

Statistically insignificant in terms of improving score, especially for amateurs.

Your scoring average is lower when you are closer to the hole and amateurs don’t have the ability the hit the ball to leave a specific distance in.

Interesting strategy for a podcast having 2 guys who are both trying to be the expert in the room. Neither are really listening to each other which I thinks blunts the message
