I followed her instructions verbatim and LOVE my nails!!! I got tired of spending a ton of money to get my nails done at a salon just for the techs to do a sloppy job. MULTIPLE techs... Thanks for this fabulous tutorial! It took me about 1.5 hours to soak my old acrylics off, prep my nails, silk wrap, and paint. I found the exact same products used at Sally's for the extensions and painted them with China Glaze polish (regular not gel).

You can also add up to 3 layers of silk onto the nail, and repeat the entire process if you want a thicker super strong nail more similar to an acrylic. These nails grow out with your natural nail. No need for fills, so that is a great benefit. Although, the very skilled nail artist can paint a graduated acrylic so thin near the cuticle, that you can grow the nail out too without needing fills. Yes, this is my hubby's account. I am a female, lol.

Wanted to add that I did this in about the same amount of time as the video, pausing about three times to complete the steps. If you take your time, the results are FABULOUS! Thx again.

Wow, so much easier than powder and gel. I moved to FL and nobody here does silk wraps, either with or without extension tips. In NY, no problem. Acrylic has ruined my nails, not to mention everytime I get them applied, the person does a great job the first time, but rushes the fill. There is no consistency to the way my nails look, and they always are too WIDE, too thick, and end up looking like teeth! They destroy my cuticles with filing as well. I can save my cuticles, (and $25 for a fill) and do them myself! I looked online and Sally Beauty has an ASP Light Less gel kit with the resin and the activator. That's where I'm headed. I did my right hand with silk, glue and IBD powder...gonna finish the left with your method! Thanks for sharing!

I recently broke off the entire tip of my natural nail -- along with my my complete gel manicure. Normally I would use some nail silk to reattach the tip, but it flew across the room and I haven't found it yet! I had some cheap nail wrap that had too much "body" to wrap my nails well and I was able to use it with some structure gel to recreate the end of my nail, and it matches beautifully with my other manicured natural nails. Very nice! A life saver (from a purely fingernail perspective ;)

When I first started doing acrylic nails 10 years or more ago, I often wondered why they didn't have a system such as this. Watching your video is actually the first time I seen it applied from start to finish. Wonderful video and product! Thank you for sharing :)

I've used silk wraps (or tea bag) (at home) on and off for 40+ years and its great that there are resins now, we used to just use nail glue and silk to fix the nails, then use 2 coats of ridgefiller base and polish. Now I do similar to your techinque (without using acrylic powder) BUT started using 1 coat of resin (or nail glue which is thinner) BEFORE adding the silk. I have very little lifting if I do to much house cleaning without gloves. Now that my breaks are grown out I have long healthy nails using just Gelous, OPI and seche vite.

That is really good for when you break a nail and you don't want to cut them all short but at the same time you don't want to walk around with one short nail and the rest long.
Thanks for the tutorial =] xx

I suddenly, after 10+ years of using acrylic, became allergic to acrylates almost overnight. It looks like dermatitis. Little blisters, broken skin, itchy, embarrassing & gross. This is such a lifesaver. Not 1 nail tech in 10+ years ever told me about silk wraps. A true God send. Thanks a bunch!

The first time i saw i was completely astounded. i have been looking forever for a way to mend my natural nails. i also took your advice about switching to a strengthener for my nails. my nail was broken and sadly a piece flaked off. so i had a nail with left to the midway right missing, then the rest of the nail was there. i used this method and it worked great!! you cant even tell. thanks again.

My nails have been growing out and snapping off. Two down to the quick. I found your vid, and followed your instructions. Awesome. I am not great at buffing and smoothing, but I am getting the hang of it. I found on my "quick" nails, your powder method was perfect. (Redid those 3 times before connecting that dot-HA!). The powder gives the structure needed to hold up.

Hello ! I'm totally new to these nail trends, so when I broke 2 nails last week I went to look for some tutorials, because I didn't want to cut all the other nails down (which are quite long !). Your tuto helped me out a lot ! I fabricated 2 new nails very well for a first time ! But it's quite difficult to shape the silk wrap, and it becomes translucent ; and the and the silk bandage that I also tried doesn't get translucent at all. Great video, thanks !

I am going to try roughing up the nail now and see if that helps otherwise this is a great tutorial and it works amazingly! finally my nails are all the same length and no more going to salon and having them destroyed. A little over a week ago, I had a finger nail that I was going to patch, but it chipped out before I could, so had to trim it all :( I bought an acrylic kit and sculpted an overlay, but I have near 0 skill and wound up doing much filing to make it passable. Found this video, did it last night, and it worked! I couldn't find silks, so I used two layers of fiberglass, each with IBD brush on. Probably could've used a 3rd layer. It ski-jumped slightly, but you can't tell if you don't look closely.

This video is a godsend! Thank you so much! I have really weak nails and I really dont want to go back to whole salon deal, but this is great :) I have a gelish system at home and im wondering, if i did these wraps...could i go in with my gelish afterwards? Might be a silly question but just wanted to figure out how i could go about it. :)

You are amazing for this!!! Do you suggest using an acetone free polish remover so it won't damage the resin? Or is regular ok?

Hello All, I'm a licensed nail tech and the name of this is called a silk wrap that is used as an enhancement for natural nails by using silk wrap, resin, and activator spray. It usually only takes two times but I don't see anything wrong doing four. I do like how you cut the silk wrap to extend...great idea.

Hello! Love your video, I am curious as to if with this technique could you the shape the extension of the nail into rounded, almond or slightly stiletto? I wonder if shaping it into those styles will then alter the durability of the nail/gel/silk. Thanks for any thoughts you have!

Thanks Anna this video was very helpful! ^_^ Glad you mentioned the primer! i just bought the primer and the dehydrator last week just for this purpose! cause the last time i cracked a nail i used the LG and had the lifting problem, so figured if it worked for acrylics and gels, why not the LG...then after i bought it thought to myself should of asked Anna first before i bought these LOL *Shew* so glad you did this vid :D (now i don't feel like i wasted my money ^_^)

Hi, love your video. I ruined my nails with trying out acrylic ones, very bad.Can I use the gel without the silk or with it on my natural nails(very soft, now) to harden them, make them stronger?

Love that idea and it really does work. I have one qustion though, (probably silly, new to all this) sometimes I get a little groove in the nail, which direction should I buff to smooth it out? Horizontal goove, do I buff opposite in a vertifcal up & down direction???
Please help. Thank you so much, and pls. keep doing the tutorials.!!
