Have you ever found yourself wondering what some of the biggest car recalls of all time have been? Well if you have, then you’re in luck!
We’ve done some digging and we’ve compiled this list of the 25 biggest recalls of the past 30 years. Whether it be issues small issues affecting a handful of vehicles, or major issues that lead to hundreds of thousands of cars being recalled, they’ll be included in this list!
To clarify, the numbers included in this video are just for cars in the UK! The same issues are likely to have happened to cars outside of the UK, but unfortunately we don't have the numbers for those!
So, have you ever had to have one of your calls recalled? Let us know what it was in the comments, and whether it appeared in this list!

1:22 - I believe the reason why it’s a legal requirement for indicators to flash quicker when a bulb has gone is so that once a driver notices that their indicator is flashing quicker than it should, they will realise that their bulb has gone out and, depending on where it was blown, was misleading other traffic into thinking it was going to go straight on but was actually going to turn either left or right until the blown bulb was replaced by a new bulb.

    • @nickcook7408
      @nickcook7408 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      WRONG.
When one indicator lamp blows the resistance in the circuit changes and the relay behaves differently because it ‘sees’ more resistance.

In the 2000s, Peugeot 405s built in Iran by IKCo caught fire spontaneously and doors became locked! This led to tragic death of some people unfortunately! They fixed the issue and continued production of Peugeot 405 until around last year. I guess they are still manufacturing some version of it today!

It was a while ago when my friend had a renault laguna 1997 2.0 litres. He removed the factory stereo to fix some sort of issue, when he was putting it back, which required the same simple process as the removal, just clicking together few plastic connector, the passenger side airbag blow up and smack him on the face, he literally went unconscious. But guess what, the stereo was working perfectly afterwards.

On my 2003 S Type all my brake pipes corroded. Complete brake failure (electronic handbrake did not work in addition to brake pedal) circa 2006 from memory. Repaired under warranty. Never heard if recall happened.
Had to stop the car by going down the gear on 6spd auto box and then put it into reverse ........maybe the reason my auto box gave problems 2015 until 2017 when I sold it.
25k for car, 3k for extended warranty and about 3k in repairs. 31k plus service costs for 14 years of luxury driving with only that one brakedown which happened near home so I was not stranded. Pretty fair all things considered.

have owned a few of those actually! had a 2002 corolla that was recalled, was something to do with the passenger side airbag not being torqued correctly on some versions. Had a 97 astra, didnt know about the recall on that until now, I assume a previous owner had it done although it had very low miles (78k) so probably wasnt that effected. Briefly had a 206, 2001 reg, didnt know about the recall on this either although it suffered a bigger problem with the rear axle being made of cheese! I currently own a Volvo S60 effected by the seatbelt recall, still waiting for an appointment to get it sorted..... I seem to have a habit of buying cars with recall issues.....

i just have to say the obvious, all new cars should be recalled since the large screen and no physical buttons is a hazard. not to mention the wireless tech and flickering lights on cars.

No physical buttons is the real hazard. Screens are fine. Anyone trying to touch the screen while driving INSTEAD of using buttons has chosen to receive the Darwin award.

@@rdmz135 buttons are tactical, dont require much attention like a screen does.
and a screen does a lot of content that makes everything worse, and should not be in a vehicle. just think about it.

2009 Mazda 3 in New Zealand booked in early next month, to replace the whole drivers seat because of the height adjuster mechanism may crack. Which could result in the seat exhibiting an abnormal noise or potentially the seat may move out of position while driving.
It only just passed the last wof because of the height adjustment in the seat currently has excessive movement!.

Could that be a manufacturing fault? Cauz the servicing guys didn't find anything. Said some window might be open🤷. I believe it was the AC ducts
