Hi, if you select create from import and the level points are 3 dimensional, as in your dwg file before you flattened it, you can select the import, and choose the autocad layers the survey points are on, and it will automatically create the 3D Topo surface
@@architecturetutorrevit You can use free software CADtools to export Autocad points to CSV file, and then just import it as surface in Revit. The whole operation takes 2 minutes :)
I had to enter points by tracing over an imported pdf. Since there were a lot of points to enter, I stopped and started a few times in order to save my work. I didn’t realize that this created a bunch of independent topo surfaces instead of just one. I then had to merge the surfaces and it worked out well. Thank you for your excellent tutorials! I’m learning so much from all of your videos!!
If I'm not mistaken you can try to import the cat file without flattening it rivet will calculate the point and give you the total surface automatically without the doing the tedious process of placing points and making crosses and wasting all that time.
Hi, another solution i found is go to autocad(3D View) and create a polilines that connects all the point(all point must be 3d and not flat), after you import the polilines in revit and it can autodetect the point with the right elevation. Sorry for my bad english, and that i can't make a proper video to explain this.
If you have CSV file or txt file , u can input it Massing>topo> specify point. it show automatically 3D. And u need to check Relocation point , Manage>Project Relocate
Thank you so much your tutorial makes my work better,I would like to ask after we create the surveyor the plans or the elevation how we attache it to be exactly on it.
thank you for the Video, set the VR to 1000' to 0 , wondering why when I add topo point, ele lower than 285' doesn't show, but over 285 shows a dot with the cursor. and 3d view shows the topo surface is created.
I think its most common to have the topo in a separate file that way you can move the linked file as you like. I know it would be great to have topo in project file...
I always did it like this- thinking "that must be a bad workaround and can't be the only way to do it..." - I also have never seen a survey plan with 3d hight lines like revit is designed for... EVERYTHING in Revit feels like a workaround.....
Don’t ever flatten your survey data🤦🏽♂️. Also don’t use revit for surface modeling. That’s what civil 3D is for. If you have to use revit for surface modeling. Import the survey points. Also if your survey points can be exported out of the survey file with civil 3D if needed but the surveyor should have provided a text file of his points. If not tell him to do so.

if you have the txt file from the surveyor with the points you can load it into revit using the tab "create from import"
You can also create a txt file from pretty much any AutoCAD survey, even flat ones, by running a script.

This is brilliant! Thank you!

Hi where is the link/video to the example where you use surveyor drawing with contours lines? Please assist. Thank you
Hey mate, I can’t find the tutorial for the cad file with contours in your description 0:28
Or is it on your Patreon?

I have tried it once and actually works

Sir our project site of 28 acres..
How can I approach in shortcut method?
How I can approach using select import instance tool?

very complicated and very lenghty

excellenment video. just what i needed to learn
u can extract each circle coordinate's to auto copy that cross...
Good job.. thx for these helpful videos!
Do you know how to import the points from the CAD files to excel and then export thsese into KML, then into revit?
can you insert TIN model in Revit???
which is better :
1- bring down the site to zero (level of the project)?
2 - bring up the elevations of the project to site level?
