Instead of guessing units in autocad just type UNITS and remove all doubt. When you paste the CAD plan just paste to 0,0 coordinates. Thanks for the video! Your tutorials really help
When importing AutoCad into Revit make sure you do the following: 1) Overkill command in autocad. Gets rid of double lines, 2) proxygraphics set to 1 in autocad. 3) no not import dwg bring your main revit file. Import into a temp project file. Why? Bringing in autocad file especially from a manufacturer will add unwanted line types to your file. 4) use that temp file to modify your line weights. Just some basics. My pet peeve is complete details drawn with filled regions - Lazy drafting!
I just spent 2 days fixing 2 details that were exactly as you described. Now the company can take my new details and easily modify them for other projects.
Thank you for sharing the video, one thing I would suggest that set the same reference point on both the floors (command L enter 0,0 ) so that u will never face this issue again of not overlapping plans.
Before this video I used to open cascaded windows of autocad and revit to create the layout in the latter. This saves a lot of time and energy, better used for more productivity. You make learning fun with your laid-back approach and sense of humour. Thank you so much for this
If your struggling to import the CAD section using the method above, suggest you create a new 'Generic Model Family' and import the CAD drawing into the family on an Elevation view. You can then load the family into your main Revit project and move it to where it needs to go
The Reason why the plans are not on the same postion is that you move the origin in the AutoCAD-Files and so you have a BKS. But Revit looks for the WKS, so you must move the drawing to the origin point 0,0,0 in the AutoCAD Drawing.
Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) is a type of technology that creates digital models of buildings and project sites. Architects, engineers, and contractors use VDC models to visualize and plan building designs, processes, schedules, budgets, and more. VDC technology allows companies to analyze construction plans from start to finish before breaking ground.
Hi, imported floor plans didn't align properly, because you made a mistake when creating your dwg files. When you thought you moved the coordinate system to the bottom left corner of the floor plan, you actually didn't move the global coordinate system, you created a new one, which is called user coordinate system. When you import dwg into revit file, it always takes only the global coordinate system into account. To fix this problem, in AutoCAD, you should move your geometry to the proper place (bottom left corner of the building to the centre of the coordinate system). Not the other way around. Tomas
Good one... but while importing cad into revit click on the Current View. So its gives you options to make cad foreground and background.. so no need to do wire frame for see below cad..
thank you so much !!! merci beaucoup pour vos cours je ne comprend pas bien l'anglais mais c'est tellement clair que travaille régulièrement vos exercices merci beaucoup encore et bravo
Dude, you are good, please keep up the good work. One comment I have is, if it would be better to use a highlighted cursor. Like, in this video, at from 08:30, you applied the Align function. I went back a few times but could not find how you did it. With a highlighted cursor, it would have been visible. I could not track your cursor. One more very important aspect of your video, No Music in the background. Just wonderful how your voice is the only thing heard, no distraction. Thanks for your good work.
I'd like to add that you should draw your building in the same file as you've placed the CAD backgrounds. You should always create a CADLink file for the CAD backgrounds. That way your model performance is much higher in your project file. Secondly, once you've got the CADLink Revit file linked into your project file set it to Attachment instead of Overlay. This will save money for other disciplines when they import the Architectural link, as they won't have to go into your CADLink Revit file and write down each and every layer that's turned on / off just to make sheets look the same across the project.
Excellent tutorial, would be interested to see you produce some similar but then add ventilation ductwork, water pipes and cable containment trays. Do you have a tutorial like this?
Thank You for your Videos. There are very supportive of me because I am starting to learn about REVIT. So I always watching your video. Upload more videos like this.
I think you can use pick line with changing wall location lines to exterior or finish face interior and easily you can add walls no need to draw them actually.
I've got another trick maybe a little more work but only 1 CAD file. Your in luck. Level 1 you Change the Elevation of the items to 0.00 AND Layer(s) to Level1..... Level 2 Select all your level 2 items and change the elevation to the proper elevation for level 2 AND Change the Layer(s) to Level 2.... Level 3 Same thing. Then Stack the levels appropriately in CAD. Revit will read the elevation and show the CAD Drawing at all levels where the elevation View Depth intersected the CAD elevation. Here is where why you changed the CAD Layers to Level1...., Level2...., Level3.... You then turn off the layers that are inappropriate for each level so you only see the information needed on that level. But now you can use that 1 CAD File instead of many. I was going to say "Just simply turn off the layers to work with each Floor." But I can do 1 better. In AutoCAD you can Group the Layers with Filters to Level1, Level2, Level3.... Then you can right Click and turn the Visibility of all the entire group on or off. As well as Viewport Freeze option for printing. It would be nice if the Group Filter form AutoCAD linked into Revit.
Maybe moving the whole drawing to coordinates 0,0 at one point would be better than moving only the ucs icon to any point in the drawing. anyway, it can easily be corrected. great video. thanks much.
Hello. Good tutorial, but I want to share with you a bit of knowledge I learned along the years working with revit. Never ever import dwgs in your main project. Why? Because if you have a company template of line styles that had to stay like that, then importing a dwg will fuck it up. It will also import the line styles from the dwg, and we all know how messy most dwg files are, sometimes even if thousands of line styles will be added to revit. What can you do instead? You have two options: First option is to always LINK the dwg. Second option is to create a secondary revit project (container), import the dwg in the container, and then link this container to your main project. This second option is proven to be the best, but it is also the most time consuming. You can also also have any amount of dwgs in a container, which you can keep unloaded so it does not consume any resources/memory. Source: am revit consultant.
Yeah exactly. Once I saw him importing, I just thought what an amateur. Then he started talking about exploding it. I was screaming at my screen telling him not to lol
Ur way of explanation is awesome. Thanks alot .but the is something in my mind . What is the difference between revit and 3ds max and which one is better or required for work ?
Great video, Thank you! Quick question, once you select both floors and uncheck the mark in the bottom right corner to lock them, how can you reverse this if in the future you needed to select the floors again?
This might be late, but like Charbel said, download and install the Lumion plugin. It exports everything straight to Lumion from Revit, including assigned materials and textures...
You know what? I wanna buy a cup of coffee to the person who make this video, really thankful for all the video you made. Cheers!

It's the best tutorial video I've ever seen. I did lots of projects after watching your video. I owe you for sure.
great tutorial for someone getting back into Revit after 6 years :)

Awesome. I also learned about not selecting pinned items option.. Thank you.
You are amazing, I just switch to soft softs and I am loving everytNice tutorialng about it. It much easier then my last program.
Thank you this was extremely informative. Tried doing this on my own recently and failed with flying colors.
lol
This is a very efficiently taught video. Thank you so much
Ayyyy Thanks for helping get to know the Software! I just downloaded it in hopes of making resetupes and originals. Props to you for
I keep coming back to those basics videos because I STILL don't know how to properly use the software. I'm gonna cry

Maybe the ORIGIN command in AutoCAD can solve the problem too, if you don't want move the whole drawing to the coordinate system origin.
BRO! Thanks, that tip helps.
i think it is better to paste the floor plan with the align point to (0,0,0)
Or just use by shared coordinates, they should land one above the other since he paste them into new drawings.
Thanks man
TNice tutorials was an amazing tutorial. You are a great teacher
Svaka cast kolega, steta sto ranije nisam otkrio kanal
Very nice autocad work keep doing brother may God bless you 👌👍💞
Really appreciate the video .I would like further demonstration on how to use actual tutorial in soft to make soft .

So did anyone find a similar channel but for 3ds max ?? 🤔 such quality content 🤩
Thank you for explaining this thoroughly!
Great video! Well explained and easy to follow along!
TNice tutorials is video is amazing! thanks for posting.
Nice tutorial. One thing it didn't address is Phases - quite important to make sure the new walls, etc, actually show up as one draws them.

Awesome tutorial, thank you soo much!
Just very glad u are back
very helpful and simple man.. i tNice tutorialnk i'm gonna see all your videos
Thank you! This helped me so much!
good job! i bet you are great at making s! good luck
Excellent explanation-Thanks
Cad version should be equal or lower than the revit version
Really

Thanks a lot. TNice tutorials video got started.
When I first got soft soft it was Japanese to (I don’t know Japanese) but I got the hang of it and now I’m working on an e.p so thx
Excellent work
Every Producer, DJ, soft Maker and writer will love tNice tutorials feature. Please encourage soft-soft to make tNice tutorials happen. Fingers
Your videos are really interesting,
You can just make the cad file to 0.0.0 base point and that's how you can solve that overlap plans problem after you linked cad files to Revit.
Lots of love bro
thank you Mr Balkan Architect!
THANK YOU SIR it's very simple
thank you so much i was facing alot of problem importing the autocad file. thank you so much for your help. keep posting.
This is really informative,

You should link those CAD drawings not import. Importing pollutes your RVT model.

tNice tutorials was so cool thanks man
I like the way that you explain work its so easy bro really thank you.
needed to go learn by acting!
I love your videos so much .. it’s perfect 👌🏻
awesome tutorial, thanks a lot!
Change the "Program" from Agressive TE to Analog Base 1 TE inside the GMS setup equlizer panel..
Thanks this was much needed☺️ BTW HAPPY NEW YEAR🎊🎉
Excelent tips! thanks you!
Your video is so useful for me.
Thnk u so much sir..and u r realllyyy.. Gud sir
good video. UCS command is difficult sometimes. He corrected quickly.
too good... heartily thank you
Ur way of explanation is awesome. Thanks alot .but the is something in my mind . What is the difference between revit and 3ds max and which one is better or required for work ?
made it into an arp using the default soft envelope generator and a bunch or other weird stuff I didn’t even know existed. Called it pants
thanks for the video !!
know what they tNice tutorialnk, and hopefully give so pointers. Thank you!
Dont forget to also purge and even audit your DWG file before importing to Revit.
Setting the units too.
What's that mean? Purging your DWG file?
@@BEFreda use command "purge" in autocad to clean unused staff in the drawing, like refs, blocks, settings...
Don't feel good bro i was in the sa precision you was in
Next week, 5 tips for how to EXPORT DWG files from Revit?
Very useful thank you!
Great video, Thank you!
Quick question, once you select both floors and uncheck the mark in the bottom right corner to lock them, how can you reverse this if in the future you needed to select the floors again?
This was so informative thank you
Is it possible to switch to inches and have American brands showing? THanks for this tutorial, Chief!!
“program” and click on where it says “aggressive te” and change it to “analog app 1 te”
Nice video
I also autocad Designes it useful to me thank to bro
great job
I feel you!
great great tutorial
Hi, could you do a video on "Tips and tricks for transferring Revit model in Lumion" please.
Download the livesync plug in for revit and it will export it automatically , lumion reads COLLADA types of files
This might be late, but like Charbel said, download and install the Lumion plugin. It exports everything straight to Lumion from Revit, including assigned materials and textures...
You are too good sir.
Thank u soo much. i was wondering y it didnt soft the sa for as well
