I'm glad you showed all the failed attempts at the end. That shows that it's not as easy as it appears. Sometimes more can be learned from watching improper technique than watching it being executed perfectly. Good job!
This was the best vid I’ve seen on this and I’ve watched a lot. What I really appreciated was both the successful and fails. Really. Seeing the common mistakes was just as helpful if not more than the actual successful runs. Watching enduro legends make it look easy can then feel very disheartening when your own bike doesn’t pop up. Thanks a ton!
Loved seeing a new training vid. I’ve missed them. Don’t get me wrong, I love the riding vlogs, but I love havin someone explain the techniques to me. I’ve wondered a few times if you’ve ever wanted to go back and re-film different training aspects as you’ve ridden more and maybe even changed your approach to different techniques?
I love the 3rd person persective too. It's much more informative than watching from the POV of the rider. I think it would be extremely hard to do but I'd love to know exactly what their hand controls are doing during some techniques as well. How much throttle, how much clutch, etc.... I'm glad Barry said on this one that he wasn't using the clutch at all, that it may not be proper technique but that you can do it without worrying about the clutch. That stuff is helpful.
fredman1085 Im going out tomorrow to do this we have a concrete berm 34" tall with a 12" drop on the other side..... hopefully im just sore on the drive home, and not replacing parts! lol
I have to thanks u guys !! your work is truly amazing I don't ride my motorbike since 2017 but your videos are fantastic !! I finished Redbull Romaniacs 2017 with my exc 125 !!! from Italy
This video are perfect... No fail... As is possible.... You have to show us the mistakes and the wrong position. Otherwise is like to see Caroli win a race... Easy for him...
thanks kevin, i doubt i'll ever managed anything higher than this. but it's amazing to see the pro hard enduro guys get up significantly higher walls than this.
many many hours in post production to hide the support wires and carabinas, truc. you know what it's like, having to touch up pics to get your thumb out of the photo....

actually everyone had spotters unless they asked not to.... once i got up three times without problems i did a few runs without spotters. bit nerve wracking! :)
Vertical climb is my fear now but after 1 day o practice my skills are better! Tnx to your vids, I (my friends too) start to relearning the basics . Explicit = detailed information, but I interesting about sex vids too :))
So interesting and valuable tip that you comment on how important it is to have the front wheel punch. Weirdly, intuition would tell me that avoiding the front wheel hitting the wall is better.. I can see the results of that now 😂 Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Lately ive been using the double blip to get over logs and such and one of our friends make s cut out section in a slight hill to simulate a near vertical face and ive been practicing on that aswell its pretty fun
It's good to see another training video Barry. They're few and far between these days. To be honest, I think most people originally subscribed to see the training videos and learn techniques. On a side note, I never understand why videos like this receive some dislikes (8 so far). What was to dislike?
Its harder than it looks, its all about the timing and clutch control, been riding trials for about 8 months and it helps you use these technique's, but there still not as easy as Gforce and the boys make them look!
very few guys have mastered the 50+ training vids to date so not much point doing too many at this stage, dan. also supporters of this channel are very happy with the current vids coming out and they are the ones who give me the topics they like covered. :)
Good point about the large repository of training video's you've already done. And fair enough, you've got to keep the paying subscribers happy. P.S. I had to re-read your comment -at first I thought you were referring to senior riders (50+) not having mastered all the techniques yet. 😃
Keep all the goodness coming Barry! I would never make it through a shift at work without cross training endure skills video's or traction erag! Hope to catch up mate when your in BC, us Washington state boys will come up and gumby out! We love mcnutt and vedder, you need to check out Lytton BC!
Excellent instruction! As soon as my torn MCL heals and my knee braces arrive I am going to start practicing this technique. I will start with our street curbs and when I am confident with that I will move up to something higher than 8". Spotters would be very good to have too, do they all need to have video cameras to be a good spotter?
I've yet to try this kind of technique and I'm growing towards it slowly. But I remember seeing similar thing (think that was for the big logs) with the double blip of the throttle. And here it is just a wide open one. What's the difference? Can it be done in two ways or am I missing something? Thanks for these educational videos, they're great!
Any idea how much tire pressure people were running? I know it's advisable to air down a bit for trail traction, but that looks like an instant pinch-flat if you're not pumped up enough. Great vid, though! I can't wait to try it out on my XT
@@crosstrainingenduro TUBliss is definitely the way to go.. I don't have a couple hundred to throw at that setup yet.. I'll shoot for 12 and carry spare tubes 😅 Thanks for the prompt reply!

i've always wondered about what the clutch hand is supposed to do for a normal wheelie? How can you lift up on the handle bars and release the clutch at the same time?
I’m no expert, so someone may counter this, but any time I’m balancing at a standstill in front of an obstacle, and need to dump the clutch to get over it, I’m only holding the clutch with my one index finger. The rest of my hand is wrapped around the handlebar grip.
thanks stevie! you were riding so well a few years ago i reckon you must be on your way to junior trials champion for our state now. :) hope life is good shayne. i had all these high hopes of getting back to WDTC this year but this video stuff has got way out of hand with 60 to 75 hour weeks....
Just in case somebody has a tip, when I stand up, my knees get very close to handlebars making it hard for me to get enough leverage to turn them in some terrain. I've gotten the handlebars as much in front and up as my cables allow for and pegs as low and back as I can without major investment, but if anybody knows of another easy trick to get around this, I'd love to hear it :) .
I've checked that a while ago, even saved it, as it is really helpful with the 3rd person shots, bar raisers video helped as well, it does great at summing up the negatives (well worth it for me :) ).
A good enough rider could... you'll see Pol Tarres doing this stuff on a KTM 790 which is a heavier bike. I wouldn't attempt something this high though. Big chance of punctures too unless running high air pressures.
CROSS TRAINING ENDURO SKILLS the reason i ask is cause the cr250 has a notoriously awful bottom end, and it's what i ride, and wondered if even a skilled rider (which im not) would have difficulty getting it up
dude, buys a 12oz flywheel, raises the height of the cylinder and puts a separator of 8-10 cm. in the reed valve... With these modifications you already have an engine with low end. I have a 2002 cr. And remember to use the bounce of the fork
dosizmp whats the reed valve separator do? i have an 02 also, with a milled head and flywheel. the head mod helped a lot with low end, but still need more!
Justin F thanks, I got a 300xcw. I usually need a lot of throttle to get the front up in 2nd without some speed. 1st the bike reacts instantly. Hard to control.
Justin F 2nd for sure. 1st is scary on my machine, especially if I have to stay on it as he says in the video. I don't have that kind of crazy control yet.
temperance yeah I have a 250xc I’ve ridden 300s they definitely have some more bottom. For most log crossings and stuff I am in 2nd and use some clutch and either do a double blip if I have run up and soils good or just a punch

Do your skid plates extend to protect the bottom of the shock? I'd worry that if I got this wrong the shock would take most of the impact.

i've always wondered about what the clutch hand is supposed to do for a normal wheelie? How can you lift up on the handle bars and release the clutch at the same time?
If you drop the clutch,.. no need to lift up on the handle bars at all!
