- For my second 808 track in the series, I chose one of my favorites. I originally sequenced the song on the Engine, but later decided it would be better to play everything live. Only the drums are pre-sequenced because I only have two hands. Hope you enjoy it!

If anything, this gives me so much more respect for groups like the BeastieBoys. Considering their “Paul’s Boutique” album contained at least 15 record samples per track, along with the beat created with drum machines. That one album is an amalgamation of 750+ albums over various drum machine beats. Genius!

actually that is totally amazing. I'm trying to understand music rhythm and making beats with the TR08 and adding different keyboard notes and vinyl samples to create my own. Any good recommendations on learning this...Not a musician but vinyl collector, sampling and scratching/mixing for 25 years.
I'd try applying the same techniques you use for mixing except instead of having two records, you'll have one record and the TR-08. You can match the BPM of the TR-08 to the record. That would actually be pretty cool. If you're using samples, then I'd probably chop them into 8 or 16 samples and play that alongside the TR-08 MPC style. You should check out my Faux-Sampled Beats. For years I've been obsessed with getting that early 90's boom bap sound without using record samples. I just did a reboot on the series with my first live Faux-Sampled Beat. Thanks for the comment. So I've gotten several comments that the bells are wrong, but no one says what's wrong with them or how to fix them. This is my interpretation of the song by ear. I'd love for someone to tell me how the bell part is supposed to be played. Peace \/.
