I've got to offer just a simple yet very sincere thanks for your efforts - this was the latest round of the finest breed captured on camera that gave me a wake up call. I found myself getting mad yesterday at mine for his loose cannon antics until I realized that some of it is inherently normal and the rest of it is still my fault. He's still young at 2 years and my patience wears thin still too easily. This video reminds me of why I chose this companion in the first place. Thanks again!

Sooo, my family lost Arikumasa (Riko) in November 2017 a little before his 14th birthday. He was all a RR should be and the youngest member of the family was 21 when we gathered round him for the last time. It was as good a life and farewell as we can hope for for our shorter-lived family members. There's too much change in our lives at the moment to consider a puppy but one day.. . Every so often, I sit down with a drink and review 13+ years of photographs and it makes me maudlin, then I switch to your TH-cam channel or Instagram and find my smile again. What I'm trying to say is "Thank you".

This time last year I was looking for a companion. A new man in a new town starting a new life. The last time I had a dog was 40yrs ago. I found your videos and got my first Ridgie female "Peanut" at 8 weeks on 12/23/18. Life is going great and it's time to add another to the mix. We pick up our 9 week old Ridgie male "Flapjack" on Sunday. I can't wait to have two.

How's it going 1 month later?
The 10 month old is in boot camp. This is week 2 and she’s doing great. We miss her like crazy. 14 week old is growing fast. Although it’s a bit insane around here with both it is way more fun than just one. I’m very thankful my life can accommodate such loving beings.
I could have literally watched another 10 hours fo this....

Hi! I recently adopted a ridgeback mix and so started watching your videos. Even though my Pancho is not a ridgeback, I am finding a lot of similarities from your videos. For example, no liking to play “fetch” is right on.

Thanks! For summertime beach trips, I've come to love the material biothane. It takes a beating from sand/water but retains no smell. We have a mix of collars from two companies - sexybeastdogcollars.com/ - and sloppychopsco.com/ - both are great, just depends on your style preferences.

Not a lot of tennis balls in Rhodesia, I guess.
They are not a breed to play fetch. The first time I tried to have our RR play fetch., he chased it down and picked up the ball then waited for me to come get the ball from him. They need a more mind stimulating game.
@@geraldodamaso8876 Mine didn't fetch much either, but I assumed it was because my other dogs were just more gung ho about fetching. When my Shepard would water retrieve sticks the Ridgeback would wait on shore and sometimes grab the stick as he was coming out of the water.

Yup! Never done it for titles, but Penny is a demon on the lure course. Love to watch her go. Will definitely have to get out again sometime soon

As someone who has failed in nearly every way possible, I feel qualified to say it uis p to you to get better. There's no waiting it out or just holding on. Your Ridgeback is entering one of the most challenging ages of their life and he needs you more than ever. He needs lots of off-leash exercise, positive reinforcement training, and love. If you're struggling, enroll with a local trainer ASAP to help right the ship
Gabe S My first Ridgie was a dream dog, so quiet and gentle. My second was a devil spawn, spent hundreds on training etc. I hung in there and she was the love of my life for 14 years. Just lost her. They are definitely positive reward based for training. Don’t be mad, they get so much easier after 2 years old. Get him desexed if you haven’t already. They are so worth the effort, I’m getting my third in October and I can’t wait.
