This is a legal drama imposing itself on what should be a romantic drama. Ridge's choice is the only thing that can resolve this storyline. The Law can't do that for him; it can only _prolong_ the storyline. In this way, we have *the Law as Delay.* The show did this recently with Dylan and Jessica, imposing the legal system on their romance and since neither of them were strong characters, their storyline was essentially being driven by the legal drama. In that storyline we had *the Law as Plot-Driver.* And there's also a parallel storyline occurring now where the law once again interrupted a romantic storyline (Thorne being charged for murder on his wedding day). In that situation, Anthony is the villain but the law is helping him and thwarting Thorne and Macy so here we have *the Law as Antagonist.* In all of these cases, a character has to step in at the end and reassert the primacy of feelings and personal relationships: Stephanie testifying on Dylan's behalf out of newfound respect for him, Macy trying to trick Anthony by using his feelings for her against him, and Ridge eventually having to make a decision between Taylor and Brooke.
Great points! I would like to add another role - *the Law as representative of plot logic and morality.* This is clear in the role the Law has in relation to Taylor and _Omar._ Since her return from the dead, Taylor has made promises to Omar and accepted responsibilities in Morocco as Princess Laila. Being a Good Girl (or something like it), she can't simply walk away from those obligations, she needs to be _released_ from them. And that can really only be accomplished through this court hearing. We need a judge to tell her that she doesn't actually _have_ those responsibilities - because that means that the show's "sensibility" (as you put it) allows her to cut all ties with Omar. And having established that, a precedent is set for _Macy,_ who is _also_ trapped in commitment she doesn't want to keep (the engagement to Anthony). Normally, a Faustian contract can't be broken, so she too needs an "out." So in terms of narrative logic, when the judge establishes that Taylor doesn't need to keep her promise to Omar because her prior vows to Ridge are still valid, Macy can get out of her "deal with the devil" using the same argument.
@@annieo6527 I like that parallel between Macy and Taylor's contracts! Though I remain baffled why Taylor (and the show) isn't treating Omar as more of a villain. I wonder if Brad was considering keeping Omar around as a love interest for Taylor after Ridge chooses Brooke and then maybe the plans changed when HT decided to leave for Melrose (or something else, if that happened later?)? Now I've watched 2078 episodes, watching several episodes every day. Bold and the Beautiful - 1995 (S8 E327) FULL EPISODE 2078 These episodes are from 1995. Why do I have to wait for a new episode every day here on TH-cam? Since they are from 1995, I will never finish the entire series as long as I live with only one episode per day.
I still don't understand why there is a need to "interrogate witnesses" in order to determine which marriage is legally valid. It's strictly a matter of how the law is interpreted. Why do the feelings of the people involved even matter in determining the legality of a marriage?
19:07 Taylor: It has *my name* and prince Omar's. Does that mean she has signed the marriage certificate as Taylor Forrester, or will there be a twist tomorrow that she has signed as Layla?
It’s frustrating to watch her act like the reasonable, empathetic person she is not when it comes to Taylor. The way she stood up and grabbed Ridge’s hand and then got close to the judge. Brooke’s actions in front of the judge seemed false and manipulative.
she always puts on a show, unless she is alone with Stephanie or Taylor or with Caroline.. she was also been fake with her sister Donna in numerous times@@z-5reader939
The next episode better have the judge telling Omar to sit down. Taylor is asked the question and he pompously interjects? And then Brooke’s true self is revealed with her smile? Let Taylor speak!
Thank you!! Not once has anyone asked Omar for his input. Who is he to be able to tell the judge what Taylor was thinking? I can’t wait to see his face when the judge rules ridge and Taylor’s marriage is legal and he did all this for nothing
I wish someone asked Brooke why it wasn’t important for her to keep Eric jr. Family together? Why is the marriage to ridge worth hanging on to but not the one to his father 😂😂 . She legit talks like this is her first marriage and these kids are both Ridges and not his siblings. Almost like the writers want to erase her screwing Eric and marrying him. Smdh
As iconic as the scissors scene is, there are two questionable moments. First, why did Anthony not question Darla's sudden interest in him? Does his anatomy really think faster than his brain? Second, if Darla really is Macy's best friend, why did Macy ask anyone but her to be her maid of honor?
Darla showing an interest in Anthony makes sense as this also happened a year ago - when Anthony was growing impatient because he wasn't getting what he wanted from Macy fast enough, he made moves on Darla instead behind Macy's back, and Darla responded. As for Darla not being Macy's maid of honor, I guess it's because Darla is such a peripheral character on the show with no "drama" of her own. Realistically she should be Macy's first choice but it seems that Darla is not a character that "counts" on the show.
Hm, Brooke doesn't anything about not knowing what she wants. She certainly was never in the position, that she was standing between two men, one she was married to and his son, she slept with while married. Brooke was not making any decision than. It was than Rigde who decided, because Brooke waffled between Eric and Rigde and Brooke claimed being so in love with Rigde and didn't love Eric. And Brooke wasn't physically injured before, wasn't locked up. Brooke doesn't care about family, she has proven that every day in the last 8 f... destiny years.
Brooke care about Beooke no one else matters she sees onpy herself and her desires children are a helping factor she gets pregnant to cling to men she is so desprate
Brooke starts believing in Tridge marriage during her marriage with Ridge when he told her on a daily basis. And that's why she asked her to go far away, pretending she was still dead ,when Taylor revealed herself.
The Judge addresses Taylor as *Mrs. Forrester twice* (You are out of order, Mrs. Forrester, Is that accurate, Mrs. Forrester?) but he hasn't addressed Brooke that way today. Is that already a hint to the judge's decision?
It’s actually not a relevant question at all when it comes to the situation. This is simply to determine which marriage is considered legal so everyone expressing their personal feelings on why their marriage is valid shouldn’t matter. As for who ridge wants to be with that doesn’t need to be worked out in a courtroom
*@Trish* not the judge asking Ridge how he feels 😂 We get a typical 😐 (cc *Annie* ) 3:27 Also not Brooke having an infallible faith in family. What about Steph's family? Eric Junior's family? Taylor's family? Beth? 12:45 😂 🤣
*Darla and Macy's play within a play* The setup with Darla, Macy and Anthony has a distinct "play within a play" quality. The whole idea - reenacting a "fictional m u rd er scene" in front of an actual mu r d erer, in order to evoke a reaction from the true unaliver and make him give himself away - has parallels to how Hamlet stages a play mirroring the actual events in the drama, in order to expose his uncle as having unalived the king (and may well have been inspired by that plot considering the frequent Shakespeare nods in the Thorne/Macy storyline). Macy, too, keeps her play as close as possible to the real unalivement that she is trying to expose - the m u rder w ea pon is not an actual 🗡but rather in the category of "office supplies with sharp edges" (just like the letter opener), and the way she (almost) uses it on Darla is similar to the way Ivana was unalived. The "staged" effect is enhanced by Sheila's theme music being used in the background for a character we _know_ is nothing like Sheila, indicating that Macy is _faking insanity_ (another theme borrowed from Hamlet).
It's wild to me that you have to self censor the word MuRdEr because of lame ass TH-cam because your comment is excellent, but The gayness of TH-cam ruined it for me. I'm fucking going to Rumble more now because I love freedoms. Love ya!!!
Yes! The show has done a number of "play within a play" like scenes before but this is the most direct Hamlet reference to that we've gotten since the purpose here is to catch Anthony. It's so interesting how Thorne and Macy's storylines have covered so much Shakespeare terrain (as you've beautifully shown us): Romeo & Juliet, Othello, and now Hamlet. BTW wouldn't Sally make a great Polonius? 😁
@@NewYorkNick0607 yes, and there were some subtle Hamlet connections that I remember we discussed earlier during the alcoholism storyline as well (Macy as Ophelia), where following the inexplicable rejection of her lover, and the (perceived) loss of her beloved parent, she lost her mind and came close to "drowning". The most _obvious_ Shakespeare (Othello) reference is yet to come though. If the other ones range from "that kind of reminds me of..." to "yeah, this is similar", this last one will be in the "neon sign, impossible to miss" category. This whole storyline basically ends with a re-enactment of Othello, Act V, Scene II (soliloquy included).
Isn’t it fascinating how Shakespeare’s brilliance is in most storylines? He really captured humanity at its best and worst. Annie, enjoy your analysis!
Well timed too. Macy had to enter at the exact right moment so Darla wouldn't actually have to sleep with Anthony. And then Saul had to enter at the exact right moment so Macy wouldn't actually have to unalive Darla. And Macy had to bring the ✂into the office in her purse while pretending to just happen to find them there on the desk.
@@annieo6527 Yes, and as you pointed out, Macy had on a dress the same color as Anthony underneath her white blazer. Poor Saul though, he must be so confused 🥺😁
@@laurastrobel718 I think Saul was in on it too. And it was nice how Macy kind of slipped back into her normal voice for a second when she told Saul to get Darla out of the room, because in that moment she wasn't _threa tening_ Darla but _protecting_ Darla.
If I were Taylor I'd say Screw you Ridge it's not worth It and go live my life in luxury with servants and lavish vacations around the world with Omar and the children 😂😂

@@tiroyaonejustinphologolo9763 but Ridge only married Taylor so that he could keep his father on top of Brooke cos u know, Ridge is such a saint 🤣. He might hav learned to love Taylor but that's bout it.
In both the Anthony-Macy, and Brooke-Ridge-Taylor storyline (indeed *all* B&B storylines), the fact someone is getting married / got married / is married is totally irrelevant given the fact marriages can be dissolved with your morning antacid, depending or not on whether you actually *WANT* to remain married to that person. That marriage is this irrevocable, steel-clad event that will change the trajectory of the future *FOREVER* , is one of the show's most skillful (or dumb) snow jobs.
Danforth should have argued with Brooke that if Taylor and Ridge's family deserved to be protected, then why was she trying to lure/seduce Ridge for the whole time they were married. Discredit her before the judge as the tramp she really is.
Later we learned that Ridge stayed with Brooke because of the childrens hhhhh but yes Ridge married both women out of love 👍👍👍 We all know how Brooke and her fans always said that Ridge married Taylor out of obligations for Eric hhhhh

When they are bed, BROOKE was theIr main discussion. Don't forget that love scene in 93 after Brooke's panic attack when she was in the hospital and Ridge was rejected by her. Yall know what he went home and did.... thinking of Brooke. Ridge is a SICK MAN LOL..
The court hearing should focus more on them orphans. If Taylor could promise them that she would never leave or abandon them, what does that say about her commitments, promises and several marriages? Or treatment of children.
Twice as well, once in person with them, and once over the phone. I realize they don't matter in the scope of the show, but it does say a lot about Taylor and how inconsiderate she really is when she wants something. I remember this scene she wanted her brother to meet Felicia, ignoring that they were already dating and she completely demeaned his already existing girlfriend so that he meets Felicia.
So Brooke and Taylor both have questionable morals / intentions / inability to commit 100% and follow through on their promises, and we should not be supporting either of them. 😹😹😹 (Maybe we shouldn't even be watching this show! Or maybe we should keep watching, and keep defending our heroines because we like them.)
Does anthony not know macy at all. Obey me. Macy never obeyed a man in her time in this show. And if she did she got over it raleal quick and got back to doing what she wanted
He _doesn't_ actually know Macy at all. He was only ever interested in her body, not her mind, ever since the first time they met when he had no problem kissing her while she was unconscious.

She sure did and they should have NEVER gotten back together. If it wasn't for STEPH and Taylor's buddy up and snatching Ridge away by lying about Brooke and Grant there would of never been a Tridge reunion in 1998. Geez ppl!🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I still don't understand why there is a need to "interrogate witnesses" in order to determine which marriage is legally valid. It's strictly a matter of how the law is interpreted. Why do the feelings of the people involved even matter in determining the legality of a marriage?

That is one weird-ass court.

Yes. I was thinking the EXACT SAME THING! Shane! She is flipping on him.... He will catch on soon.
True
What kind of a man needs a court to decide for him who shld be his wife?
Darla looks so beautiful ❤😊
Hm, Brooke doesn't anything about not knowing what she wants. She certainly was never in the position, that she was standing between two men, one she was married to and his son, she slept with while married. Brooke was not making any decision than. Because basically that’s the only answer that really matters and the one we all want to hear.
It’s actually not a relevant question at all when it comes to the situation. This is simply to determine which marriage is considered legal so everyone expressing their personal feelings on why their marriage is valid shouldn’t matter. *Darla and Macy's play within a play*
The setup with Darla, Macy and Anthony has a distinct "play within a play" quality.
Love ya!!!
@@lyndathompson3399 sometimes these words make it past algo, sometimes they don't. I figured this post had too many of them for me to take the chance.
Ridge never really wanted kids with Brooke. He was upset both times she was pregnant!!!

The court hearing should focus more on them orphans. If Taylor could promise them that she would never leave or abandon them, what does that say about her commitments, promises and several marriages? Or treatment of children.
Why should the court care? None of it is relevant in this hearing.
