You should have way more subscribers man. Just discovered your channel today searching for some jazz techniques. I stumbled upon your jazz licks videos and I cannot say enough how appreciative I am and how much they have expanded my playing just in a day!
I'm not using picks anymore but the info has helped me apply a little ( slowly adding grooves to my own links) while using right hand finger style picking. Thanks
Genioooooooo!!! Hace un tiempo sugerí que hicieras algo de Eric y cumpliste maestro !!! Está muy bueno , felicitaciones y a ahora a intentar ponerlo en práctica !saludos desde Argentina
Mate, this is a great insight into Eric Johnson style, tabs and pattern diagrams would be helpful for the novice players, your lessons always leave me trying to up my game, as you are very fluid and controlled with your playing, cheers
Thanks a ton for the support man! Im super glad the lessons are helping out! You can find the tabs and backing tracks on the Interactive TH-cam Experience tier on my Patreon account.
Woah! This is super new to me it's a whole new avenue for me to go dwn first time iv seen ur vid so il def keep an eye out for more. Ur book I wreckon wud be a good read aswell.
can you do a video like this about Per Nilsson and some of his stuff; mostly to do with his solos from meshuggah and scar symmetry? he weaves scales together better than most. these are your best vids imo btw. thanks
Fantastic job Juan, as ever! Anyway, some advice on how to archive the right sound, like which pick up and tone settings on both guitar and amp, which effects (phaser, delay...) would be even greater!
Hello Jaun. Got a video on how to increase picking speed? Picking 2 notes on one string then 2 on the next and then 2 on the Next ( 6 note Grouping) is Problematic. If you pick 2 on the E then 2 on the B then 2 on the G then go back to the B to pick 2 more notes on the B, your pick is moving away from the b string on that last up stroke if you are doing strict alternate picking. You'd have to using some alternate picking and some sweep picking so that your pick is always moving towards the next string. But that doesn't really help people get better and faster at picking to actually be able to play Eric's songs which is what a lot of people want to do.
I don't have a video fully dedicated to developing speed yet (thanks for the suggestion)! I'll definitely work on it in the future. In terms of the 6 note grouping, there is not a whole lot to do in terms of the specific technique. Based on the nature of the movement it pretty much has to be played either with straight up alternate picking or using pull offs (I mostly do it in pull offs when playing normally). I guess you could do all legato with hammer ons from nowhere as well, but that's definitely not the norm. If you want to do it with straight up alternate picking I suggest some of the Troy Grady videos on the topic. I believe that the use of pick slanting does help with a lot of the problems that arise with changing between strings in pure alternate picking. When working on the specific tunes, I would just study the specific troublesome areas and fine tune the movements according to whatever is going on in the music. Hope this helps a bit!
@@juanantoniomusic yeah Ive watched Troy Grady's videos. Helped me a lot. My problem is playing 16th Notes across multiple strings and tempo is 110 BPM or higher. Maybe 3 years isn't long enough playing time to be able to play these fast Solos. Videos on Picking Technique and how to develop it, How to find bad habits and fix them and how to build up speed and accuracy would be great. Seems like hardly anyone is making videos about it. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my comment.
Yes sir! Both the tabs/notation and backing tracks are up on my Patreon account at www.patreon.com/juanantoniomusic on the TH-cam Interactive Experience tier.
Hey man can I ask one question plz? : Can you give some suggestions about how to practice playing those pentatonic runs time evenly? I always play those like some parts faster and some slowe... Thanks a lot!
