That's a good job pushing if you had a bigger dozer you would have the whole thing done you know your one of the best operators I have ever saw and I've saw a bunch over the years 45 years of working
I think Chris realizes he needs at least a D6 dozer OR a large rubber tire frontend loader...........but his Uncle is also an Owner in this company ! WE don't know what percentage of the Business Chris owns , so he may not have much decision power when it comes to purchasing new equipment .
Root rake on a bulldozer blade works ok but super slow. Using a Track Loader like a Cat 953/963 works great for grubbing and cleaning / stacking debris. Being able to turn the bucket teeth at approximately 30 degrees to the ground while moving forward and slightly lifting the teeth to keep excess dirt out of the “push” pile is a fast way of “raking” leftover brush etc.
Great work, the root rake definitely gets it done! Looks like you could use a bit of rain to at least knock the dust down. Amazing how fast it dries up. Thanks for sharing
I noticed at 0:05 you hit a stump still buried. Do you go back and rip them out with the digger or leave them there for the land owner to have some fun with?
The size fire you gonna have there isn't gonna care about a little dirt in the old roots gonna burn right on through it just need little bit rain so you can light her up...
With all the backing up, it seems that you are being productive only 1/2 the time. Is it of benefit that instead of backing, the doozer turns 180 and pushes the other way?
Chris, is there a reason the client wanted those couple of trees left standing on the lot? It seems like they're kinda bare and out in the middle of nowhere.
Hey Chris I have a question. Would it be faster to get a chipper out there and chip it and then just burn the chips? You do great work just looks like it’s time consuming.
Do you ever want for a bigger dozer on these jobs or is the one you have a better size for what you do? Would a D475A-2 be large enough for your needs if you did want a bigger one?
The rake sure does a good job and I assume the drier the better job it does. Did you all get the 3" inches of rain this weekend? I hope so because the shower boogers have got to be getting out of hand every night! 👍
I just have a question you may have answered this question before. With all the clearing jobs that you do would it be a good investment to have a grinder to reduce those piles down the mulch?
I fully agree with you that it would not be cost effective to buy a wood chipper. However have you and your boss considered buying an articulated wheeled grapple to move large piles of debris instead of using a dozer and an excavator as you did on this job ? I'm speaking of one similar in size and carrying capacity to the one you are often shown using at your friend's lumber mill to unload logs from trailers.
Last clearing job I did the landowner tried to "help" (save himself money actually) by cutting 3 to 5 inch butt scrub down to ground level between my bid and arrival. Each would stop my JD 450G in its tracks on a straight push.Bid the job based on hours and nothing else. Spent hours popping each one out of the ground with the corner of the blade. HOURS equal money. When I bid the job it was a straight knock down, push, and pile for him to burn: no rake required and I left it at another site 62 miles away. You've got some serious skill (REALLY serious skill) but a rake will always get dirt into the pile. Just no way around it.
yeah Ive had a few customers do that, the worst are the ones that go ahead and cut all the logs into 16" long peices. god its a nightmare to clean up 1000 of those things
Nice job at clearing. Why would someone buy land in the woods and clear the whole thing??? Gotta leave some trees for privacy from road and shade on property
Savannah Global has a rotary rake that you might find more efficient that that root rake? Pull one behind you 'dozer. From the video it might be a good topsoil stripper too.
Can’t help thinking with all that “stuff” a chipper and shifting to a biomass plant would be an idea...BUT the economics of your part of the world may not stack up...... would it also reduce your work and so your income ? I would like to see how the economics stack up. The unknowns are .......distance from a biomass plant, the availability of a chipper and access to the site / plot for trucking stuff oot ( sorry out) Love to see how it’s done. If any client ever says why it took so long or why it is so expensive..... it is come here and watch, argument over. Amacf from Scotland
If you guys keep getting those big clearing jobs, may need to get you a 500-700hp chipper. And I'm sure you could then sell the chips to the pulp mills
Snakes, Snakes. Where are those snakes? They have nasty Eastern Diamond Backs when I lived in North Carolina. Big Fat Snakes that layed on the pavement at night and hid in your machinery during the day.
My dream job is to operate equipment. But finding someone to teach me how is almost impossible. people forget where they come from. And that at one point. They didn’t know how to run equipment and someone taught them. Or they learnt because they was able. They won’t train people to run it. Like me and it sucks. Because that’s what I want to do
Steven Walls that is why he 2as raking it before a storm came in. He said in his last video that if the little stuff got wet it was hard to rake. The dirt just sticks to the wood.

Suckhole !

Great video Chris thanks for sharing have a great day

Chris, you did an excellent job cleaning the surface debris, lay some sod!!!!!
....13
Like the video Chris keep them comming , have good day .
You make operating heavy machinery look so simple Chris.
Nice little dozer, good operator, kept a lot of dirt out of the wood pile.
Great video! I always enjoy your content. I'm just a wanna-be operator. Never been inside a piece of machinery like this, but it's on my bucket list.
like the pun
It looks like you go from swamp to dust bowl. With very little in between. Great videos! Thanks!
Looks like a long push to the burn pit,,, That kitty cat seems to have plenty of power nice video Chris
I hope he makes a video of that burn pile going up!!!!
The size fire you gonna have there isn't gonna care about a little dirt in the old roots gonna burn right on through it just need little bit rain so you can light her up...
Now I like the pushing of the piles seem faster then loading it and it looks cooler doing it nice job.Hope you show the fire
..all that dust must play havoc with your air filters..good vid..p.s.we're waiting for a good burning vid..lol
Yep..!! That's gonna be one hell of a burn.
He’s probably just thankful he has a cab
There is a lot of burning coming up ...Is that an extra set of longer teeth welded up to the rake now ?
Used to do that with as case steiger 500 but pulling a huge hydraulic rake it was crazy as hell. Kick ass articulation tractor though.
Them tracks sound like my wallet opening lol
after it's burnt will you post the results of the burn and how it looks in the hole ?
That little dozer is quick .
have you considered shredding and chipping that brush? Spreading it around the worksite might reduce the dust.
Apparently it's cheaper and faster to just burn it and bury it.
I'd hire a water truck and spray down the site with water to keep the dust under control.
Good picture and sound quality.
Why are there some trees still standing along the plot
Chris just woundering why u have a komatsu dozer and volvo everthing else?
Jeremy Macrae Volvo doesn’t make dozers
Quick question about the root rake,, Im about to purchase one.. How does it do with more of a bedrock /small rocks just below the surface?
How many air filters do you go through in a month?
With all the backing up, it seems that you are being productive only 1/2 the time. Is it of benefit that instead of backing, the doozer turns 180 and pushes the other way?
Chris, is there a reason the client wanted those couple of trees left standing on the lot? It seems like they're kinda bare and out in the middle of nowhere.
My thoght too.
Would like to hear the storry about those lonely trees :-)
Awesome job!! would be nice to have a front end loader with a grapple bucket to move those piles...
Chis for a small dozer that little guy can push man a great buy you made.

Every machine is only as good as the operator on it ;-)
Awesome camera views this time with the root raking.
Wouldn't a power rake?e work better for collecting the roots with less dirt ?
That mid size Komatsu is working as hard as a big Cat. If you didn't maintain it she would have died long ago. Good video
Very Nice vídeo💪✌️👍👍🤝
I just have a question you may have answered this question before. With all the clearing jobs that you do would it be a good investment to have a grinder to reduce those piles down the mulch?
Greg Stull nope, faster to burn.
Almost looks like you need a slightly bigger dozer for that blade weight. Although you do manage with it pretty well.
Would longer teeth on that rake help any?
All these clearing projects , you need a bigger dozer with rake. D6 or 8
Thanks for the video.

I'll bet you're glad for that cab. What a dust pit. How often do you blow out your filters?
daily when like this
How come Tim isnt there see him inmost your videos?
Good stuff enjoyed that,
With the way you load the haul truck is would seem to be more economical to use the truck, to move the piles of brush, than the dozer.
I know that you take logs to the mill and haul a little pulpwood but do you ever set any hardwood aside and sell any firewood? Good money in firewood.
cant even give firewood away here
80-100 bucks here in Anson county for a pickup load.
That's split.

How come you dont use the root rake to just show the huge brush piles into the burn pit?
piles are too big to push most of them and theres so much brush near it theres no need to add anymore till we burn
letsdig18 yea im an idiot. Right after i posted the comment you explained everything.
dust bowl city !
mind you, had you not got it done whilst it was dry and had to do it after it had rained it wouldve been a real messy affair
Wow is it ever dusty out there you guy's need the rain as much as the people in Colorado do
James Hall in southern Ontario we have a mini drought
Nice job at clearing. Why would someone buy land in the woods and clear the whole thing??? Gotta leave some trees for privacy from road and shade on property
I quit asking that question, people who buy lots in fields want trees and people who want open space buy all woods. I just clear LOL
Why not start burning already to start the process?
Burning the oil again on the weekend...you deserve a day off when the rain shows up.
Savannah Global has a rotary rake that you might find more efficient that that root rake? Pull one behind you 'dozer. From the video it might be a good topsoil stripper too.
Great vid
Why can't you just leave the rake down? Why do you keep stopping to raise it?
gets the dirt out that get pushed up in front of it
letsdig18 cool. Thanx!
Why is that lone tree left standing?
Max Youngblood property line
I thought I saw a ribbon on it, that makes sense.
2 questions:
1- Why aren't you burning the pile that you already have? If you are on site all day, you can keep an eye on it.
2- Out of grease!? 😉😁
needs to rain first to make the sight safe, as you can tell its in the middle of the woods and it would get out of control quick
Track layers always squeal like that.
@@letsdig18stupid question . Why do you need to wait for the rain? If the pile is dry and away from other trees shouldnt it be okay to burn it?

That little dozer is earning its baloney sandwich today
Won't be too much longer and you'll be wishing you were back in the mud... lol

Thanks Chris, dont work to hard, lol 🖒
Think you need to get a water truck in there now. Keep the dust down now its all open.
You should get a rayco mulcher
Snakes, Snakes. Where are those snakes? They have nasty Eastern Diamond Backs when I lived in North Carolina. Big Fat Snakes that layed on the pavement at night and hid in your machinery during the day.
Not so close you scared me lol
Had to wear a dust mask for last 21 minutes.
Sounds like nails on a chalkboard! Hard to watch but a get video anyway. Nice Job

Hello everyone!
That sure is a lot of dust
That looked like a dusty job
If you are ever hiring would like to talk with you
Seems to me you’re leaving a lot behind.
Chipper would be nice if it would pay for itself.
Maybe you need a dozer one or two sizes higher
Dust like that makes u want a water truck really bad don't it
Steven Walls that is why he 2as raking it before a storm came in. He said in his last video that if the little stuff got wet it was hard to rake. The dirt just sticks to the wood.
Dust Bowl
i need FIRE!!!
Boy if this doesn't look like fun ! NOT !!!
But it's better than being a laborer picking them up by hand ! Been on both ends myself more than once ! Thanks for another great vid my friend !
meep
fourth!!!
Burn piles kill. No shit Be Careful.
First
no offense but i like the commentary on your videos the boring machine stuff not so much
that rake sucks all the ones ive seen rake ground not blade ground
