My company brought a dozer rake from the Oahu sugar plantation when they were auctioning off there equipments back in the 80's-90's, it was the best investment for our work application. All we had to do was modify our dozer pins and it worked great!
We had a field cleared that was a little worse than that . The contractor used a farming tractor with a great big flail attachment on the back of it . Shrubs trees stones rocks all were just pulverized . left the soil in a condition that was great to put down to grass .. but could easily have been turned over with a plough . saved on transport taking the rubbish away contractor did a 25 acre field in 3 days .1/2 a day was spent at the hospital with him after turning up a wild bee nest tho
I used to rake with a d6c 10k model. The blade wouldn't angle, or tilt. I would push up a windrow then push from the end of the windrow without a rake and flip it as I got closer to the pile. With a six way blade, and wide rake I would push full blade straight, then drop back and windrow the excess on over into the next load, then go straight again,
Looking good, pity you can't buy another two rakes and weld them to each side of that one at a slight angle, would come in handy with all that extra land you have the contract on now.
For the 4th of July here's what you do. Rake up and make one really big pile of brush. Get a bunch of fireworks to throw in/on top of the pile. Pour a whole bunch a gas on the pile. Then stand back, (way back I'm thinking), then shoot a fire work into the pile to light it up and enjoy the show. Then drink a few beers with some friends while the pile burns.:) (numerous cameras would be good and a designated driver)
You should have a portable shredder of some sorts :D, just putting everything in that and spread it out instead of burning it all, or are the burning also a nice way to add more nitrogen into the ground?

That horizontal grinder was a pain in the ass!
Daniel Currie haha yes! Grinding and chipping in all forms is such a hassle!! Was such a waste of diesel. Would have had less environmental impact by just burning the brush instead of 300-400 gallons of diesel a day to grind. Not to mention the pain in the ass that setup and takedown was. Especially on all those muddy jobs. Usually had to use a skidder to pull the semi with the grinder in and out of the job.
Chris next time you hook up by yourself suspend the rake with the excavator to take the weight off then us a small bar to align holes do it all the time.
I need this for my yard in the fall...The leaves get knee deep around here! Looks like it does a pretty good job in this situation! Do you usually use it for rock removal?
Do you ever notice with those mounts for the rake when your stripping sod or clay when it rolls up the blade it pulls the blade out of the cut? Where I worked had a 700 deer with those style mounts and and it would always pull the blade out of the cut, or try to pick the tracks up drove me nuts!! Great video keep up the good work👍

RangieNZ that's what I was thinking. I used a rake slightly different (longer tines/rippers) and majority of the roots stayed together. Maybe it's the root type or dirt material that's causing the roll under.

Why don’t you use the ears of the 3 point from a tractor. Those quick connect on the lifting arms. Fix those On the blade and the flat iron and a fixed bolt on the rake attachment. ??
T-N In the works aka Mr Sundowner I would like to know more about your design. I'm going Friday to get some 3/4x6" flat plate to make my blade mounts like his. I'm in the process of Finishing my rake project.
Just a thought but any chance of renting a forestry mulcher? It's turning out to be a high dollar project, might get the mulcher on the right side of the budget. Just Sayin

Wouldn't it be much more efficient to rake the rows that were already gathered? It seems he spends a lot of time pushing debris across areas that were already clean. I would rake the rows as they lay towards the end rather than pushing material across multiple rows. Maybe I am missing something.
What 's up with the dude running the dozer, he starts of good but he continues to raise the blade allowing debris to get under. This backing up over and over is definitely slowing down production, that is the reason for the rake to not allow crap under the blade. There's always room for improvement, no one person is perfect and it's easy to sit here and watch these guys and criticize but remember there is always a way to improve.
Im was trying to teach him how to roll the material. it helps get the dirt out of it before it gets to me. If you just push it will be a giant pile of dirt and brush when it gets to me
Who's using the excavator, i know that you Chris love that excavator and really know how to use it but who's in bulldozer? Don't laugh but i watch you your channel for hrs at the time.
He got that right on the first try! And you really can't even see if it's lined up until it's fully vertical because the blade hides it. Very cool

Chippers/shredders suck. So labor intensive to properly feed & manage, just like my wife. I’d rather burn the piles and make s’mores.
Where do you find all that flat land to work on? All we have is mountains in British Columbia. They go from big to even bigger.

The rake was a good idea nice level floor but have you thought about a manitou with a bucket on it with just rubber tires on would be quicker?

The initial push must be frustrating with the material rolling off the bottom and all the reversing. Would longer tines on the rake help?

the dozer only has about 2600 hours on it, doesnt get used alot

That’s how you keep from getting to much dirt mixed in with the brush. Dirt don’t burn

Too bad you can't mulch it into a huge pile and wait for the inevitable. Would save you having to tend fires all day.
