you guys are amazing. I was a nuclear mechanic in the US Navy. I pulled apart submarine main engines and turbine generators and you guys are super brave with all your rebuilding skills. Kudos
This video is very timely for me. I found a clean 2005 LJ for my son that I will most likely close on in a couple days. The one thing I regretted on my old 1997 TJ was that I never got rid of the slip yoke. This will probably be one of the first father son projects on this LJ. Good learning opportunity.
I love watching videos showing a lady that knows what she is doing!! At 17 I went to pick up a girl for a date. She couldn't go because she was rebuilding the heads on her dad's split bumper camaro with a built 427!! You go girl!!! You are a inspiration for my granddaughter!!!!!!
I never plan to replace my 4.0 strait six in my 2006 Rubicon, but it is really cool to see how an engine swap is done. You guys do really instructive videos. I have only had my jeep for two years since I moved to southern Nevada, and I have learned a lot from you. Thanks!!!
I drove a 96 XJ for years with a 5.5 longarm RE kit on it and no SYE or shims. Never had a problem until I hit a whoop coming off a highway ramp the driveshaft slipped out of the T-case. Talk about scared, it sounded like a shotgun in the cab. The driveshaft hit the tunnel and opened it up. I'd heard of cars flipping if the driveshaft his the gruond but I guess I had too much lift and tires for that to happen. I shimmed the axle the next day and eventually sold the jeep. Never installed a SYE.
The jeeps lookin good cassie.. the motor just sitting there to me just looks factory. You guys done a really good job on it.. cant wait to hear the thing fire up....
Had the same issue removing the transfer case studs. My solution was to put two nuts on the stud, tighten them together, then remove the stud by turning the inner nut. It will continue to tighten against the outer nut until the thread locker breaks. Your way is great, but I don’t have a welder. Tip to others I guess....
Use 2 nuts locked together on a stud to remove it easily without damaging it. They also make special tools but the just a minute nuts work well enough.
The jeeps lookin good cassie.. the motor just sitting there to me just looks like its ment.to be.there... You guys done a really good job on it.. cant wait to hear the thing fire up....
Good you guys are alive. It's been a while, I was starting to get concerned. Super progress, can't wait for the first fire up. BTW, you don't need a tummy tuck, you look fabulous.....oh the Jeep? Anyways, glad you guys are back!
Love the videos! Too awesome that you and your husband love Jeeps together! My wife tolerates my Jeep passion and she is kind of getting the itch but not to the point where she wants to get her hands dirty much haha keep it up!
I have a 2006 LJ and considering an engine swap. Anxious to see your total LS swap project cost. I believe you had a $5K budget? Right now I'm leaning towards a Newcomer Racing 258 I6 stroker engine. They're making 300hp with their base NA engine.
I was having PTSD flashbacks watching this when I had to do the input shaft when I did a doubler on my TJ. I sacrificed a 231 from an earlier XJ to make the gear reduction box so I had to get a new input shaft (Novak was mega helpful with that)
Great video Cassie the swap is coming along nicely. It's funny to me that a video showing you working hard doing an engine swap gets comments about how to say VIN or VIN number. What a douche! Ya'll will have that thing fired up in no time. Keep Jeeping Classy Cassie, looking forward to the next one.
No sorry needed. We all have lives happening. I found you two on TH-cam right after you left here. (Alaska). Would have wheeled with you. Been watching ever since.
Did you or could you do an update video on that double din cheaper radio you installed. Did you have any problems with it/did it hold up and still work right. Thank you.
I’ll be sure to mention it in one of my next videos, but yes! Still working right and have had 0 issues so far! No freezing or touch screen glitches or anything. Definitely recommend!
Why not use the front 1/2 of a Chevy case? This would have given the correct spline count, add the six planetary gear, and eliminate some of the AA length and cost.
That’s another good option, however you’ll have to figure out another way to get the VSS for the Gm computer. The AA adapter gives us that spot for a sensor, whereas the front half of a Chevy tcase wouldn’t have that option.
They are all over eBay, but keep in mind you will need a gm computer, gas pedal and tac module, and it doesn’t have provisions for The Evap system so it won’t be fully emission legal. www.ebay.com/itm/Standalone-Wiring-Harness-For-03-07-Cadillac-LS-Vortec-4L60E-4-8-5-3-6-0-Multec-/114287920953?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
This sort of pedantry makes me want to go down the street to get some cash by punching my PIN number into the ATM machine - you know, the one that has an LCD display and runs on AC current? I might take that cash, grab a snack, and have the cashier scan the UPC code to ring it up - but I think It would better for me to go right over to my broker and have them deposit it in my IRA account...
Well at least you didn't gloss over the transmission mounting to the engine mistake from the last video - you simply ignored it. I suppose nobody who is watching this is doing so as a "how to" source, but it would have been appropriate to at least acknowledge you made a mistake and maybe even thank the commenters who saved you from destroying the trans (possibly) had you tried to drive the way it was. Oh well its You Tube. Viewer beware. And I can't say I am a fan of buying parts that are obvious rip offs of someone else's product. That doesn't sit well with me, but that is just me. I guess anything goes when it comes to saving a buck. (Which is why we don't make much of anything in this country anymore.)
Why would you replace a good engine with a shity ls chevy motor? If anything you should of used a 440 or a hemi. Torque is the important factor, not so much horsepower.
The Ls is a good platform. And it’s very affordable. Are you planning to pay for my 440 or Hemi.. I’m happy with this setup and we will see how it goes when it’s all done
@@JeepGearGadgets no, ls is not good. You will have to rebuild that ten time compared to building a 440. They don't even use an ls in top full because it won't last and would not have enough torque. The money you are wasting on that could go to building a 440. If you need to you can get one out of a junk yard for about $500, and it will most likely still run.
@@JeepGearGadgets I'm not swaping anything because I know a dodge will live up to almost anything. Good luck with making a Honda out of that. (You know, because the blow up)

Oooooo sorry you got turned down for a date. Atleast she had a pretty reasonable excuse. Lol.
Of course Ben's always drinking beer. It's what sailors do best.
I installed the AA SYE in my transfer case last year, I was very impressed with the quality.
Those Atturo boss blade tires were slaying KOH this year. Excited to see your review on them...and hear the engine roar of course lol.
Usually you and double nut the studs and unscrew them

Another thing to note is that the rubicon models don’t have a slip yoke in the first place.
Good to see you 2 back.
Thanks for showing this TC. (Opinion only): I now would go with their Atlas TC, the factory with planetary gears and chain, is a no go.

Just a tip for removing studs , try locking two nuts together on the stud and unscrewing it .
Love the channel, I am a new Jeep owner and is great to see all the crazy stuff. Pretty sure I worked with Ben back.in the day.
I know this is a late reply, but Ben and I were talking about old stories and he brought your name up. Hope your doing well, and Ben says hi!
