The idea of these videos is to give a "realistic" view on the whole process involved in making an instrument and not just the "fun" part, as well as showing how much attention to detail and time is necessary during every step of the construction.

Can you soak the wood to ensure consistent and persistent moisture throughout the wood when bending rather than wiping water on it?
Even though it's possible, it's something I only like doing in the areas where I'm going to be bending a lot (corners). For the rest I prefer doing it little by little, as I feel I have more control over it and that it deforms less, but this is mainly a personal preference I'd say.
I'm teaching myself. I'll use your videos so you can be the master, and I, the apprentice.

This may be a stupid question, but I will ask anyways. You seem to use a bending iron that is not as hot as others I've seen on youtube. If that's actually the case, is there a reason?

It’s hot!! Trust me, I barely touched it in one moment while bending those ribs and got a blister that lasted for weeks.
I've been working on a cello for many years. Just getting to the rib part. Nice video.
