    Your float is stuck open on the carb. Tap the front of the carb with a hammer until it possibly frees up. That’s why the gas was pouring out of the top of the carb

  • @LightningFabrication
    @LightningFabrication ปีที่แล้ว +27

    There's a trick to installing those o-rings on the transfer tube of the Holley Carbs. . Put the o-rings on the tube just at the end. Don't put them all the way up to the bump in the tube. As you install the tube the o-ring will roll it's self into the hole and onto the tube farther sealing it. It might also have a stuck float .

    • @throttlebottle5906
      @throttlebottle5906 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if the o-rings are shot, so are all the bowl and metering block gaskets. they dry out, shrink and pull in at the middle on all four sides(top/bottom is worse), that opens all sorts of passage ports, makes the accel. pump not work, fuel/air metering wrong and fuel leak everywhere. also the power valve/s will be spanked. the ethanol and detergents in fuel really spanks them to death. the later blue gaskets are much better at holding up, but even so.
      ditto on the o-ring placement and them rolling into place upon assembly. that said I absolutely hate the fuel crossover tube style.

You could peal shingles off a roof running a 3 inch line down to 1 inch brass nozzle. Took 3 men to hold the line at 150 psi. It would lift you off the ground. Maybe we had a little fun during training sessions. It pumped over 1 thousand gallon per minute. Enjoyed the video.

      if Chris leaves it there for another 10 years and a tree, the weeds overgrow it. otherwise, it's too easy for DieselCreek. Chris could accelerate the rusting , so DC wont have to wait another decade for it to clapped out rust bucket

    My 1st patrol car in the mid 70's had a Federal Twin Sonic lightbar. 1 light on drivers side and 1 on pass side that rotated inside the dome. Cold weather the lights froze up and would not rotate. Had the old Federal wind up siren on top, Snow, sleet and freezing rain shut it up. The electronic siren and speaker like on this truck was Next Gen Up Town stuff. Got one of those in the later 70's. The city FD had trucks just like this cab style that were 64-66 yr models in the mid 70's.

    I did some volunteer fire truck driving when I was a youngin, when the siren went off ,I was to get in a old ford just like that one ,and haul as much ass just as fast as I had nuts to haul it towards the fire . Good times ! Seems some didn’t have the confidence in my drivein,like I did tho ! Lmao !

    That's gotta be the most fun you've had in a long time.
    Absolutely hilarious watching you two racing around your property siren blaring both of you un histarics laughing like a couple of loony tunes cartoon characters.
    That red beast would be perfect for clearing the ungercarriages of your excavation equipment.
    Mud and other goo wouldn't stand a chance of not being blown off from the pressure it could create.

    Those old Ford Cabover Series are really becoming rare now. I had one as a single axle tractor with a ten speed and a turbo diesel engine. What makes me drool about yours is that chrome bumper and chrome grill. They made those trucks all the way from the late fifties to the late eighties. I've never seen a padded dashboard before. Nice truck, keep her greased!

    The old cabovers are very popular now. I have almost the same firetruck with 6000 original miles that came from a VFD in Kentucky. If you pull the firetruck bed off and put on a flatbed they make a great toy hauler.

    I don't know how much work would be required to do it, but I've always thought they would be cool to cover into an RV. Remove everything in the center of the back portion, and turn it into an RV. But still look like a fire truck on the outside.

    I would think using an electric fuel pump you need a fuel pressure regulator. A carburetor only needs 6 - 8 psi .
