"Keep information close to your chest" is such good advice. I love being 100% clear but sometimes we just don't know things. Currently in the first couple months of clinic and it's something I've had to learn the hard way hahahaha.
I have a son just accepted to multiple dental schools and he is trying to decide where to go. UT is one of his choices, yet it is out of state, so the finances are a question. As he researches the various schools he is finding there are differing testing and study structures at different schools that make a quality of life differences. Can you compare and contrast what you know of your UT experience with that of your friends at other schools. I think his decision may come down to, is the quality of life during the 4 years worth the extra $200-300k. Do you know of any resources to help counsel a person on such an economic decision. I am sure he is watching your entire series of videos to try and gain as much insight as possible, to help in his decision. Your videos are GREAT! Very professional and very informative! As a parent I don’t want to see him struggle for 4 years with a bad quality of life and/or studies with a possibility of failure yet I also don’t want to see him struggle afterwards with with a $500k debt straight out of the gate. I feel helpless in trying to counsel him on this decision and I am not sure of any helpful resources to point him to. Your videos have definitely been one resource! Any suggestions and input would be greatly appreciated!
Go to the cheapest school. If I had to choose between quality of life for 4 years vs struggling to pay back $500k loans for 20+ years. I’ll choose poor quality of life for 4 years… I only had one acceptance December 2021, and i turned it down because I looked at how much $500k would cost me so many years in the future. I eventually got my acceptance into UTHSC January2022…
Hey stephen! I'm going to be a first year in NYU dental school and I've had some additional training at a prep academy of doing procedures on a dental model. I've noticed a very slight hand shake (something close to a very mild tremor) in both of my hands. I'm wondering if you have had this issue at the beginning of dental school or not, and if so how you overcame it. If not, what my chances are in passing dental school as a whole. Thanks!
@tclhm congrats on getting into dental school! I think you will probably be fine, when doing dental work you use a finger rest to help steady your drill, it's not like you are just holding the drill up in the air. The human arm and hand has so many muscles that have to move very accurately in order to function, and everyone has some amount of movement. If you are really concerned, take a pen and paper, look up modified pen grasp, use a finger rest and draw something, like a small circle. If you can draw something relatively smoothly, you will be fine.

Some dental schools in America run $250k-$500k in tuition and the national average in America for dentists is $220k a year depends on your specialty and if you own a practice or not.
Nope we have to pay the college for classes and for working in clinic. Also the patients pay for the care we provide them. Lucrative business plan for the college.
