If you are wondering if a card is getting rotated or not: All V, VSTAR and yellow border cards will be rotated, all grey border cards, ex and tera ex cards will remain, as well as all ace spec cards.
@@kieranturner9407 but then you would use the reprint, or it's the reprint that shows up in sites like the one in the video, but I don't know if you can use old cards, even if their reprints are legal.
3:51 If you use grand tree to evolve zard infernal reign doesnt activate as it must be evolved from your hand. Could help with Pidgeir/Dusknoir but maybe not that useful as an ace spec. Just something to note
Correct, but if you manually attach to a Charmander turn 1. Then go for something like Colress's Tenacity, you can easily get Charizard ex attacking quite easily even under Item Lock. Even though, I still prefer the TM Evolution way to counter Budew.
Terapagos > Crispin Terapagos can instantly charge any benched Tera Pokémon sitting on your bench in 1 go. Crispin can be used on T1 if you're going 2nd, but then you have to wait another turn to attack and your Tera Pokémon can potentially be OHKO'd unless it's Pikachu ex. However, Terapagos may be OHKO'd, but then you have a Tera Pokémon on your bench that's fully charged while Terapago only gives up 1 prize card, a Tera Pokémon ex gives up 2. I have a strong Pickachu ex/Magneton/Terapagos deck. I run 0 Crispin in it because he's not needed.
@@Number1SethRollinsFanno crispin is better, terapagos have two retreat cost which means ur opponent can easily trap it, and you are also whiffing a turn of using terapagos, you are def losing if u need to terapagos before every single attack, that’s why people are not playing terapagos but are using crispin
@edd5073 Not if you run 4 Switch like I do! I don't mind a 2 cost to retreat for my Pikachu ex! It helps my Magneton. Names need to be capitalized, and you need to add punctuations! Also, if you can type all that up, you can type out "you!" Terapagos > Crispin 1 turn to fully charge > 2 turns to fully charge Imagine you use Crispin on your first turn, and then your opponent gets a OHKO on you, and you needed 1 more energy to charge!
@@Number1SethRollinsFan Thank you for your advice, imo running 4 switches just for Terapagos is not worth it. You can’t rely on it every attack, in this fast format, two turns for one attack is extremely bad. Also if you load up your Tera Pokemon on your bench with your Terapagos every time, your opponent can simply gust knockout the Tera Pokemon with energy. I mean, you could try put both of them in your deck! Maybe use precious trolley and choose second to charge your first attack and use Crispin after it.
It’s my first week playing the TCG. Created a post rotation deck based of Charizard EX and Terrapagos EX. Made it to Arceus League with it in my first week ever.
I just bought the card ex deck the terapagos EX the dusknoir line the 2 extra Arvins and the noctowl package. I'm also trying to focus the build on post rotation. Any recommendations? I purchased a briar and scenario super rod. Are there any other suggestions or anything you notice in testing that is worth looking out for?
@ I’ll give a basic outline. It based on Zard/Terapagos with pigeot, noctowl, dusknoir, and bloodmoon ursa instead of radiant Charizard. Either 2 zards and 2 pidgeots or 3 zards and one pidgeot. 2 terapagos ex with area zero. Fan rotom is a nice touch to power up terapagos. Also many people use double energy but I added more fire energy to allow easier retreats and smaller hitters. 8 energy is what I run and if you play an energy on terapagos and evolve zard you can get terapagos up in one turn with a powered up zard waiting on the bench. I’ve won matches playing it as either a terapagos or zard deck without both getting online.
@@kyleaguiar3447 nice I am doing the same thing. Except with 1 orb so I can add zard from deck if I don't draw into 8t on turn 1. I run 7 fire and 2 Colorless
My buddy and I was talking about this at locals last night and only thing we were worried about is wall cards like mimikyu and cornerstone since we lose cologne. Yeah we still have mew ex to help but I feel we need a lot more to help with wall cards than that. A guy at my locals plays flygon ex with mimikyu and cornerstone so it can be incredibly frustrating to deal with. Keep up the great content Zapdostcg.

@@negu7505 That's a good idea. Zard has dusknoir line to help get around mimikyu plus you can use heat tackle charmelon that hits for 70 for 2 fire energy. As for cornerstone I'm thinking about putting in a victini ex since it can hit for 220 and get around cornerstone's ability.
I just started playing regidrago last month. I'll miss it but thankfully my local switches between standard and extended format every other week. Curious to see what people do with Miraidon and Gardivoir. Love both the decks and I think I see a way, but you never know who's gonna cook up something great.
Have fun playing against like 50-100 Arcanine ex/Charizard decks when you play in Expanded Format. I'm beyond sick and tired of facing that deck and their are a lot of lazy sheep who run that boring ass, old, premade deck. It's because it's so hard for them to build their own decks. 🙄
@@Number1SethRollinsFanIs Zard really that much of a threat in Expanded? I don't mind playing against it, it gets steamrolled by my Mewtwo & Mew GX deck lol. It's Lugia with that insane Yveltal I'm always worried about.
IMO, Gard loses one of its only diferentials. The Kirlias will be really missed Mirai has some problems by losing Raichu and Raikou for the bigger threats Curious to see the future supports for both deck
Coming from Yugioh I’m actually okay with rotation. Because when new decks come out they’ll for sure be playable for at least 2 years. Even regidrago I’ve been playing since august and that’s the longest I could play a meta deck. In Yugioh you’d be lucky if meta decks last that long.
As a Miraidon Player I am not that concerned with rotation other than losing the DTE and Lumineon. Some lists don't even play greninja anymore so that's no problem too. Raikou rotating is bad but there is already a Tapu Koko ex in Japan that does 60 damage plus 20 more for each of YOUR your benched Pokemon. With a full bench and Area Zero we get up to 240 damage. That is worse than Raikou (especially as we lose the draw) but still plenty of damage left. I still don't know how to deal with Budew so maybe Turbo energize might be a solution: Go second Arven into turbo energize an attacker for next round? A thicker 2-2 Magneton Line? I don't know yet, have to see how that plays out first
I think SSP Latias EX will be a great replacement for Switch Cart in Raging Bolt Decks. You can also use Cycling Road to replace Pokestop and Greninja.
Everyone is looking at their meta decks and i just care about my blastoise 🥰 i hope we get in the new Sets a way to make extra attach for turn for water, like a water Patch or something 🫠 And no baxcalibur is a way to bricky for every deck exept chien pao.
I was having a lot of fun with the gholdengo/togekiss build at locals- sad to see it losing some key cards. Would swapping Irida with Arven/Rigid band or TM Evo be any good?
Regarding Miraidon, while it is unfortunate that we’re losing Raikou V, after looking at some EX mons being released with Prismatic Evolution (one of the starter decks I think?), I found Tapu Koko EX. Two cost attack with a base of 60+, doing 20x more for each of your benched mons. Adding a terra mon and area zero, u at least now have a consistent 220 attacker similar to when using Raikou V (personally looking to get two copies of this card once it comes out in english)
Feels like they're trying to just let Expanded die. Can't even play it digitally. It's unfortunate. I'm lucky there's a billion local card shops in my area that host events, but it'd be cool to actually compete in an Expanded tournament, and most people are not so fortunate.
@HaggisDruid it's weird a few years back Pokemon sent out survey for everyone OS asking the state of the card game And they were mentioning that they were going to include more formats.. honestly .. having to standard is this boring. Sure standing right now is very healthy but I like having... variety.
Cancelling cologne gone it’s a big plus for iron thorns, cornerstone ogerpon and mimikyu. Also Raging bolt losses trekking shoes so it’s gonna be tricky to play it with the amounts of draw it needs.
Yeah definitely with the amount of Cologne being played right now. It'll be hard to shut down abilities. Maybe we get a new ability locking card in March though, let's find out :]
As someone who is starting, what would be a good deck that’s pretty rotational proof? I have the Charizard league deck but I’m also looking at Mirriadon and Gard
The zard/Terapagos build looks pretty rotation proof. You’re only losing Double Turbo, Radiant Zard, and Thorton. None of which are strictly a must have tbh. Well Manaphy too, but that’s such a waste of space imo. Anyone you want to protect your bench from likely has the counter for it right now anyway
Charizard ex will definitely be great after rotation as well. Maybe grab some copies of TM Evolution and the Grand Tree Ace Spec. That will be the best way to play Zard going forward.
