Just started using raw unrefined shea butter on my beard 2-3 days ago and it instantly made my beard very soft. Gonna keep using it to see if it helps with growth and volume.
Your beard is upper echelon. Anything you got to say, I'm all ears. You obviously got the knowledge. Ive been doing research on commercialy available beard butters, but I'm going to have to try this method first..Stay safe out there!😎
Thank you very much i hade Shea butter for 5 years never used it till today works well makes it so soft... You was an inspiration a whole year no shave no trimming I'm do the same my genetics are not allowing me to grow but in patches so with your inspiration I'll do as you did let it do what it do... I also brought the scotch porter leave in kit as you recommend but I'm use jbko for beard oil
Great video, as a bearded man my daughter gave me some organic, raw and unrefined 👍 and I love this stuff. And as far as smell? I’m sure I smell better with Shea butter than without 👍 . Thank you sir.
Learned this the hard way man. I bought some yellow shea butter some years ago and it dried the hell out of my scalp so I stopped using it until I tried it again, had a better result, and came to the conclusion not all of them are equal.
Shit I use Shea butter but I melt it down and add Coconut oil Jojoba oil Tea treal oil And Mango butter. I been using it for years and does my beard justice.
I I just bought Shea butter today for my beard and I can’t wait to use it. I use bloody knuckles hand cream for my hands and a top ingredient is Shea butter and I use stuff for my face with Shea butter and it’s been one of the only things that I constantly use and actually feels good on the skin.
Awesome beard, great video. Thanks for the indepth look into the details. One minor note, as I have a mostly white beard I found the unrefined butter, over time, I ended up with a yellowed beard. Yeah, I could use the purple shampoo but I find it's a little harsh for my beard. The whiter shea butters work, not as well though, but they also don't discolor anything.
Yellow shea has additives to create the yellow color. It's generally the Borututu Roots or Red Turkey Castor oil or which is red to ahd that yellow hue. it is just as moisturizing but is not pure Shea, like the Ivory (not white) unrefined shea. Shea butter without the Borututu root added is ivory colored or off white by nature. If it is snow white, it is refined.
Been using unrefined Shea Mango and Coco butters. The last for making my wife's body butter. Yes there's that nutty smell but I like it, but understand fully why companies use refind Shea as it has no smell and won't work against their chosen scent especially if it's a light or fruit based one and the nutty smell of Shea just works against it. Still early doors for my home made beard butter but it's keeping my beard soft so it's doing it's job.
Bro it’s a fact I’ve using African shea butter for years it be those commercial brand that destroy your beard. Natural shea can keep your beard moisturize for like a full day or even 2 if you don’t wash it out. Fellas he’s right give it chance and check your grade make sure it the right one.
Thank you. Happy to learn more about Shea Butter. Please say something about how to tell what grade of Refined Shea Butter is in a product. I'd like to know before I buy. Must I just depend on the brand's reputation?
Thanks for watching!! Yea you can ask the company some put it on their websites most of the companies that really take pride in what they do use the good stuff those looking to make some quick money .. you know the rest!! Stay safe👊🏾
I might need to revisit shea butter, I started off using shea moisture products but didn't like the "nutty" smell. I like the suave shea butter/coconut conditioner as a cowash
I've been using the unrefined Shea Butter from Wal Mart since I started growing my beard 2 yeras ago, and my beard would be down to the middle of my chest if hadn't of trimmed it so much.
Does unrefined shea butter make beard hair softer than refined shea butter? I really like shea butter it's my favorite thing to use on my coarse hair but wondering if the raw unrefined stuff would have even greater results if not I might not bother trying.
Shea butter is great for the beard how the butter is made is all about your preferences and what works best for your beard. You should give my products a try you can check them out at Classicgroomingco.com let me know what you think if you give them a try!!👊🏾
What's up on coconut oil? I heard a guy saying he doesn't deal with the Scotch Porter line because it has coconut oil and it dries his beard out. I'm thinking that's an issue for me as well and I need another product line without it.
I personally use pure coconut on mine. Ive never had any drying effect for me personally. Keep in mind my beard is very straight and no where thick as this mans beard. Im looking to try out some shea though.
I think the best Shea butter is from oslove organic they have raw unrefined African ivory Shea butter hats the one that works best for me it’s soft and I use it to make body butters and beard butters
My man! Appreciate these videos. My go to for all things beard. Quick question regarding shea: when and how often do you use it? Do you use it in conjunction with other products?
There are so many foods and veggies that are DHT blockers the list is crazy I don’t get to concerned about it because it’s impossible to avoid and the body does a good job of regulating everything if your diet is balanced. One of my favorite oils which is emu is also a DHT blocker and I still get great results from it. I hope this helped fam👊🏾
I been on my unrefined yellow African Shea Butter but I read its not good for low porosity hair because it’s too heavy but it keeps my hair soft. This is weird 😂
It’s fine for low porosity hair but I would recommend not using too much and make sure you are washing the products out of your hair on your wash day👊🏾
@@BeardedExistence yeah ion use a lot when I use it I mainly use it on my ends and my neck and yup I make sure I scrub my beard when I wash with my beard wash

Shea butter is a DHT blocker. DHT blockers are terrible for your beard IF you have a patchy beard. You have good beard genetics so you can use DHT blockers.
You don’t have to worry about Shea butter slowing your beard growth. Shea butter is great for your beard. Many oils are DHT blockers as well but they are great for your beard and so is Shea butter. Applying Shea butter to your skin will not be enough to penetrate and slow your beard growth. It will actually do the opposite and promote growth because of the nutrients in Shea butter. We also have tons of DHT blockers in our diet like strawberries, watermelon, avocado, almonds, eggs, bananas, carrots, blueberries, walnuts and more. Applying Shea topically will not slow beard growth.
@@BeardedExistence I'd have to respectfully disagree. Topical application of DHT blockers have been shown to slow down hair loss on the head so why would they not effect beard growth?
