- In this episode, we take our Jimny and tent to Newstead, a town a couple hours from Melbourne.
We stayed at the donation site of Newstead Racecourse Reserve, where you pay $10 p/night for max of 3 night stay. The racecourse used to be the longest racecourse in Australia located in the heart of Central Victoria. The pet-friendly reserve offers level campgrounds accessible to motorhomes, caravans, camper trailers,s and big rigs.
It has toilets, showers, drinking water, and a dump point. Currently, the fee is $10 for 2 adults, additional people are $5. Kids under 12 are free.
We enjoy part-time van life (and now also camping with our Jimny), creating weekly episodes that are live at 5pm (AEST) on Sundays, and sharing our experiences on our travels with our cavoodle, Twyla. In our episodes we stay at free and paid campsites, showing our tips and tricks for making life on the road easier and more fun. Come join us on our adventures! Lovely little town, Ship. We have also found ourselves in your part of the world. Having driven from Adelaide to stay overnight at Horsham and then inner city Docklands tonight. we are off to Dandenong tomorrow for a few nights ready for a jayco factory tour on Wednesday. Then it’s back to Adelaide via the great Ocean Road for a few days.

Ps you guys should get a flat roof rack system for jimmy. Looks cool and you can save a little space. Tent chairs etc. strap them on top . Just a thought lol 😜

I definitely think that’s a great idea, and I do do a chicken pasta like that. But can you call it Mac and cheese when you’re at all that stuff that is the question lol I definitely think it would taste better with those two things in it

Great video again guys. Newstead looks like a pretty good town. You needed a swim, its a shame that it opened at 2pm. Your Mac & cheese looks delicious, chicken and corn Mac is nice. That sunset was really stunning. Your drone footage look fantastic. Mum said you need a long gas lighter, so you don't burn your fingers when you have a camp fire. She's been watching your old videos.
We were at Maldon today, the bakery you went to vanilla slices were amazing.The Devonshire tea was delicious.

great video as per usual. Im excactly the same with mac and cheese..like the idea but never had a good one ..but yours looked as yum as you said it was...i like a cold pasta salad on the side but hot creamy pasta dishes seem to get claggy ...and ive never like my eggs scrambled either but yours again looked sooo good..
putting Newstead as a must visit too ..i love old buildings .
Id be rigging up some sort of canopy to go from the back of Jimney to the tent ..gazebo? love that you guys have the choice in what to take camping now. Safe travels .

Hey Kevin, we are loving our chimney. Haven’t done any upgrades on it as yet but maybe in the future will let you know if we do. It’s nice mixing up tent camping with our van camping just something a little bit different. Hello Dean, Adam and Tyla, I was so interested to see how you cooked the macaroni cheese. I cook the pasta in water, fry an onion which is added to the drained pasta and grated cheese. Add dead horse to taste and you’re in for a culinary treat’ Oh. salt and pepper to taste of course.

I’m now living in Burra SA which is near the Clare valley with SOO much to see.
So yo may like to keep this neck of the woods in mind when travelling interstate. I’m nearly 80 now and still have itchy feet. Everything is ready to go, I just need to load up the old rav 4 and wait for the cooler weather! Go well boys.

Plenty of spots it’s part lunch and there was quite a few fire pits for you to use or you could take your own one, but it just needs to be off the ground and contained. Glad you enjoyed the episode. Regards, Deano
