From what I am hearing this is by far my favorite OD pedal! :P Very nice playing! The solo was one of the best I have seen lol. So cool pedal! The classic Hard Rock sound. :P
You should try the Friedman BE-OD Deluxe, which has two channels, one with the same gain as the usual BE-OD and the second with slightly less gain (but still plenty and the one I prefer for solos). Independent EQ and volume for each channel means you can set one for rhythm and the other for solos, very versatile and the best overdrive/distortion pedal I've played.
Asked the heat for the guitar! Jonathan, while I was listening to the improvisation, I forgot that I was going to get acquainted with Friedman until you started experimenting with the settings. 🤣 As for overdrive, I will say that, in my non-professional opinion, a pedal with a very decent sound. I agree with your preference. I like the DS more than the focussed BE. DS sounds more open and less pumped up.
