And with the steady swarm of hipsters moving here, there's a lot more art, good food, and craft beer here. Good area for music and comedy too!

three things to note about connecticut: 1) it has one of the largest income inqualities in the US. this means some of the richest postcodes in the country are right next to some of the poorest. 2) towns close to new york and along the coastline *tend* to be nicer (so southern CT) (bit of a generalization but y’know) 3) towns also tend to be nicer/wealthier than cities. so bridgeport is quite poor and depressing but it’s right next to the towns of fairfield county, which are very beautiful and wealthy.

Hey Barbs! I love watching your vids! When you get to New Jersey, as I was born and raised in the state, Newark in summary is quite historic and diverse in people and culture with a predominantly Hispanic community. It's a cool place to visit as there is great food to try and there's Branch Brook Park, a park well known for having the well known Cherry Blossom trees.
Some facts about Boise, ID 1. It's BOY-see, not boy-ZEE (don't worry, no one pronounces it right outside of Idaho) 2. It's the fastest growing city in the country 3. It's centered around the Boise River, one of the cleanest rivers in an urban environment in the country 4. We have the largest Basque population in the United States (there's an entire Basque section of downtown Boise) 5. We're really nice people and many people visiting the city remark on how strange it is that everyone says hi to one another on the street even though there are 500,000 people in the Treasure Valley 6. No, we're not in Witness Protection (at least to my knowledge) 7. If I had to compared us to other cities it'd be a mix of Portland, SLC and Denver. We have a thriving (though small) progressive area of the city (the NorthEnd), are heavily influenced by the Mormon religion like SLC, and are an outdoorsman's dream like Denver (seriously, nowhere can compete with our combination of hiking, fishing, camping, rivers, foothills, forests, etc.) You should visit. Just keep it to yourself that you're from California. We're obnoxiously anti-California because many from the state are moving here and causing the cost of living to go up even though our wages aren't changing. Also, we're crazy conservatives (Boise is more moderate), so Cali politics are insane to most in the state. Just stay away from Canyon County.
The Boise metro area is basically all of everyone living in Utah summarized in about 500 square miles. Boise is like SLC+Provo-Ogden and Canyon County is basically Payson. Then Meridian is like all of the Salt Lake County cities that aren't SLC.
Only the city proper, most people who consider themselves to be from Miami live outside of the city proper, because practically every neighborhood is technically its own city in Miami, if it was organized like Jacksonville Miami would be many times bigger, any population count other than city proper has Miami as being bigger
Jacksonville is Florida's "largest city", yet only its 4th largest metropolitan area. In only its small developed section, Miami-Dade County alone has nearly twice the population of Jacksonville's entire metro. Jacksonville is among a handful of US cities that get its status solely from swallowing up hundreds and hundreds of square miles of land. Miami proper, on the other hand, is sitting on less than 36 square miles of land.
I live in New London County, Connecticut. A brief description of Bridgeport and our state in general is that certain parts of the state are very clean and rich and preppy, other parts are farm country, and other parts are industrial wastelands. Cities are generally very poor and underdeveloped and not maintained, while suburbs are kept well. Schools in public cities are failing while suburb schools are thriving. Any questions? AMA.
Tara KC it really depends on what I’m in the mood for. Gates is fantastic, but I also really love Jack Stack. And then of course’s there’s Joe’s KC. Now I’m hungry. Lol. 😂
Thank you for the Des Moines shoutout!! I've lived here for 13 years and will be sadly moving in August. I had the opportunity to live there during a time of rampant growth which has been awesome, I always say the city feels bigger than the population would suggest!
As someone from Tucson, I can say even though I've never been to Phoenix, based off this, Tucson and Phoenix are very similar. Here in Tucson there are mountains surrounding the whole city, and you can see them at every corner. We also have lots of cactuses and we regularly drive through highways that wind up mountains and through valleys.
Yep, but I’m disappointed that he didn’t go over the historic stuff since that’s really all Bridgeport has now: like the 1st Subway (restaurant), PT Barnum, and Gustav Whitehead where all from here If you want a CT city that actually feels like a city, go to Norwalk or Stamford
Yes, Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is the busiest airport in the U.S. However, it is also the busiest airport in the world, and has been for a number of years! Very cool
As a New Orleanean, we criiinnngggeeee when people say New Orleeeeens (like you did) or Nawlins - because that's not how we say it. New Or-lunhs is jussstttt fine. Back to the show... *hugs*
Good question. That would depend on where you live in Louisiana as even in South Louisiana each town has its own dialect, remarkably. And the North speaks much differently from that South, even though it's a small state. However, NONE of those pronunciations include New Orleeeeens or Nawlins :)
@3:36 - 4:01 Hi Paul, I've been watching and subscribing since the India episode (I'm not Indian, but I was coincidentally working on a project about Gandhi in my history class) and I'm born & raised in Colorado (I even lived in Northglenn for 4 years @3:51). Many of the people are known for hiking or walking around lakes (sometimes reservoirs if they're one of those hardcore people who rarely go inside), but some prefer to be in the metro area to walk down Denver's 16th street mall (an outdoor mall stretching several blocks which includes a few retail stores, a bowling alley, and a movie theater). Here it is not uncommon to have people taking pictures and/or selfies of the scenic points within the city (especially during a sunset/sunrise), and people might even pull over to a backroad for a minute or two to do this (guilty as charged)! Trail mix is definitely common in gift shops and tourist sites, and surprisingly enough there's a city by Rocky Mountain National Park called Estes Park which has elk burgers (I've never tried any though) but here's some more CO quisine intel aside from the typical burger joints: vegetarian/vegan restaurants & yogurt shops, Rocky Mountain Oysters at the infamous Buckhorn Exchange Restaurant, and the Original Chubby's for their Mexican-American menu featuring choices "north and south of the border." As far as kayaking goes, it's fairly common along rivers; but there's a huge thing for skiing and snowboarding in the winter as well as paddleboarding in the spring/summer. Many of them have the purple "coexist" sticker on their vehicle (which is usually a Subaru outback with a bike rack, and also light green or forest green 8 times out of 10). Cheers!
Even if the name change is widely adopted, the e- of eSwatini is kinda equivalent to the "The" in "The Gambia" so you could certainly still argue for alphabetising under "Sw". This is kinda also true of Lesotho, Burundi but the capitalisation scheme in siSwati emphasises the root as the primary thing (unlike that in Sesotho and Kirundi) so the alphabetising eSwatini under "Sw" is not that inconsistent with capitalising Lesotho under "Le" (rather than "So") or Burundi under "Bu" (rather than "Ru").
tristan roberts And El Salvador is always alphabetised under 'e' not 's'. Seems like as a general rule articles are only dropped when they're in English.
I work in Baltimore and you were really accurate about the attractions. The neighborhoods are great and next time you come, check out inner harbor. Lots of good restaurants. Also, there is the National Aquarium. I wasn’t born or raised there, but I do feel like I belong. Looking forward to hearing your impression of NYC. I’m from NY, but I grew up on Long Island. Keep up the great videos. Really entertaining
It's actually French so both of those are wrong pronunciations. "Bwaz" or "Bwa-ze" depending on whether the original name had an accent mark or not. You're welcome.
He really gave Boise and Denver short shrift, seeing as they are two of the fasting growing cities in the US. Lots of folks leaving his town (LA / California in general) for places they can still afford a home.
im from portland. i bought a tshirt at a concert in a venue where you literally get screened for weed when you walk in. i had to wash it eight times to get the weed smell out.
You defiantly need to visit New Orleans/ Louisiana! I’ve lived here my whole life and we love visitors coming and being interested in our culture and history!⚜️💜💚💛
As an Alabamian that lives right outside of Birmingham, I’m offended you assume we all root for Alabama. The whole state is pretty much split evenly between Alabama and Auburn fans 😂. Great video nonetheless
Denver and elk? I've never heard of that and I lived there for years. Mind you, they do some exotic food out there. Have you ever tried Rocky Mountain Oysters? I told my Dutch husband about them prior to our trip there and he looked confused 😂😂😂 Keep on going. Almost 1,000,000 subs 👍🏼
Yikes.....Rocky Mountain Oysters. I live in Colorado too and as far as I know, bison in very popular. But those sinister oysters, whoever named those must have been feeling really mischievous.
9:44 I think he missed one line thatI feel like should've been added as a mention. "Oh, they also have this rescued B-29 named Doc, it's at there airport."
I'm from Jackson, MS and this is the first time that i've ever seen a youtube video that pointed out some of the good of the city. basically everyone hates our state and our capital but hey, we don't care because it's absolutely beautiful here year round. We have amazing museums, great entertainment. great food, and we definitely have culture. Over the last few years the city has gotten a lot safer and the crime rate has actually started to fall for the first time in many many years. Not to mention the downtown revival that started in the late 2000's that has made downtown Jackson into a lively area where people come together all the time.
Finnish Finn Fun fact: the classical American log cabin is actually based on the traditional Forest Finnish countryside log architecture that was brought to the US through the New Sweden colony.
Norwegians found iceland, Greenland and vinland (Canada) and the first two were taken over by denmark after we came into a union with them. We did not maintain these settlements when we came into a union with sweden and denmark still owns greenland to this day. Orkney and Shetland were also originally norwegian, but the danish king pawned them to the king of scotland
I live in Minneapolis and you’re right, I would add the growing diversity, and the Minnesota friendliness to the mixture. Our favorite landmark, Mall Of America. And the crazy fun activities you can do during both summer and winter. From sledding, snowboarding, skiing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, ice fishing, driving on lakes, boating, golfing, walking down eat street ( a 4 mile road of restaurants), hiking, and all the snow shoveling lol
It's irrelevant whether they change their name or not, in the English language they are still Swaziland, otherwise we would have done Germany as Deutschland and Greece as Ellada.
Wilmington, DE is terrible. It has one of the highest crime rates per capita, and half of the stores are closed. For a small city, there is a lot of homeless people. And most in the area think of it as the sketchy Philadelphia commuter city.
@@itzpro5951 im from wilmington and can confirm that what this guy says is true, and even if you're trying to be positive there isnt really much that can be said about us, they were literally going to make a documentary on wilmington called "murdertown USA"
Nice video. And we may have started a debate on weather you will go with Columbus or Cleveland for Ohio and you probably will go with c-bus but I hope you do c-land. There is a Great Lakefront culture (no pun intended) a decent shipping industry, and good downtown bars and restaurants.
You've never been to Connecticut? I'm offended... Honestly this state is kind of boring, but I like it. Bridgeport essentially is some big industrial city with a lot of poverty, so when most people think of Connecticut they are thinking of Stamford, Hartford, or New Haven. Other than that, we are a surprisingly flat state since we miss out on the Appalachians, we are also cut off from a lot of the Atlantic Ocean directly because of Long Island so our beaches have very little waves with a disruption of our view. It can make the beaches kind of disappointing. Most of the state is pretty suburban though, you're right about that. With that being said, there are quite a lot of abandoned and creepy buildings around here which you can find if you search hard enough. I've found quite a lot with my friends and they make for fun adventures. We're pretty small and right by New York, leading many people to completely forget about the state. I've had to remind people where Connecticut is on a map more than once. Overall there isn't much to note about the state other than some good sailing and some good seafood, but it's quite a nice state with a lot of pretty forests and parks.
Also a Boise native, he's right. It's Boy-C, not Boy-Z. It's in the wiki article, and here's a pronunciation guide from Boise Weekly. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boise,_Idaho#Pronunciation www.boiseweekly.com/boise/idaho-pronunciation-guide/Content?oid=1749831
I’m a native Idahoan and it is boy-c. I have met many people who willfully say it wrong even you correct them because they think it’s funny but the jokes on them for looking like an idiot and saying boy-z.

6. No, we're not in Witness Protection (at least to my knowledge)
7. If I had to compared us to other cities it'd be a mix of Portland, SLC and Denver. We have a thriving (though small) progressive area of the city (the NorthEnd), are heavily influenced by the Mormon religion like SLC, and are an outdoorsman's dream like Denver (seriously, nowhere can compete with our combination of hiking, fishing, camping, rivers, foothills, forests, etc.)
You should visit.
Haha, Nampa is the best
SO true. I'm glad you clarified this for him, thank you. Forgot to mention Canyon County is definitely a sight for sore eyes.
The Villages, Florida is the fastest-growing city in the United States of America. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Riley Tidmarsh Thanks for those facts, I barely knew anything about Boise. Love from California!
The Boise metro area is basically all of everyone living in Utah summarized in about 500 square miles. Boise is like SLC+Provo-Ogden and Canyon County is basically Payson. Then Meridian is like all of the Salt Lake County cities that aren't SLC.
Best way to describe LA is by watching Bladerunner

Jacksonville is the biggest city in Florida, not Miami
Only the city proper, most people who consider themselves to be from Miami live outside of the city proper, because practically every neighborhood is technically its own city in Miami, if it was organized like Jacksonville Miami would be many times bigger, any population count other than city proper has Miami as being bigger
Javier Kumar Miami has a more populated metro but Jacksonville has a more populated city limit

AMA.
Fairfield county is preppy (besides Bridgeport) New Haven county it where all the jobs are and the rest is rural
Definitely agreed
Kansas City for sure is known for our BBQ. If you ever come back, try the burnt ends. They're delicious and you can't go wrong ordering them.
been there once and had burnt ends while i was there, they were great
Yes, where's your fave? I love Rosedale BBQ

If you want a CT city that actually feels like a city, go to Norwalk or Stamford
Well the “clean” part is probably referring to Westport :///

Yes, Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is the busiest airport in the U.S. However, it is also the busiest airport in the world, and has been for a number of years! Very cool
As a New Orleanean, we criiinnngggeeee when people say New Orleeeeens (like you did) or Nawlins - because that's not how we say it. New Or-lunhs is jussstttt fine. Back to the show... *hugs*
Michael Patrick Strahan So how do people in Louisiana say it?
Good question. That would depend on where you live in Louisiana as even in South Louisiana each town has its own dialect, remarkably. And the North speaks much differently from that South, even though it's a small state. However, NONE of those pronunciations include New Orleeeeens or Nawlins :)
Well in Florida we say new or-lins😂
Completely acceptable. Most good people do!

Hi Paul, I've been watching and subscribing since the India episode (I'm not Indian, but I was coincidentally working on a project about Gandhi in my history class) and I'm born & raised in Colorado (I even lived in Northglenn for 4 years @3:51).

You got EVERYTHING right about Denver. Especially the airport.

Wilmington, DE is terrible. It has one of the highest crime rates per capita, and half of the stores are closed. For a small city, there is a lot of homeless people. And most in the area think of it as the sketchy Philadelphia commuter city.

You can apply that to the entire state.
Wisconsin is kinda boring too
