But right now, it is very much possible. Especially since the changes on the cars are so different. They're literally swaping car philosophies on this year's regulations. Most of downforce will come from the underground effect which hasn't been used in F1 for decades. Yeah, you just never know. Mercedes started working on this car a few years ago, at least one season before anybody else. But at the same time they lost Andy Carroll from the engine department and he was as influential as Toto or Lewis. But, again, you just never know!
If I had a F1 wish it would be for McLaren to be top! As a team I'm more a Williams fan, not keen on the new investors McLaren have aligned with, but I love Lando! I've been keeping an eye on him since before he broke into F1. I've been delighted with the progress he's made and I think he's somewhat underrated. For me, he's one of the best on the grid. It will be super interesting to see what happens to Haas. Discounting the technical ability of their design team and facilities relative to the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull, it will be interesting to see what happens to a team when it has spent an entire year developing and understanding a car. That, and with even more time and development opportunities gifted to them by finishing last in the constructor's championship. I would wager though, if they make little progress say compared to Alfa and Williams, then I think it would be fair to say that something is fundamentally broken within that team. Especially considering it has literally given itself every opportunity possible (outside of hiring Adrian Newey and Lewis Hamilton) to make a decent car.

What I think will be most interesting to see is how the "dirty air" improvements actually help Mercedes more than anyone else. The entire hybrid era, Mercedes had the proper strategy - win Saturday and you'll win Sunday - meaning, get out in front then we don't need to worry about the dirty air. We've seen for the last few seasons that the Merc hated dirty air, they didn't design the car to race from behind. I'm not sure anyone else struggled with racing behind others more than Mercedes did. With the reduction of the dirty air affect will this just make Mercedes even better?

They also were serious compettitors and winning podiums with Lotus in 2010-2015. On top of that Renault team has lot experience with ground effect cars in F1. Also the new rules change and different wheels for 2022 cars are most simmilar to the ones in Endurance Series, and we know Alonso has lot of experience in that category aswell. In fact for the last 8 years his car hasn't won a single constructor championship (which is what matters in the grand scheme). Also from 2000 to 2009 none of his cars won either. McLaren with James Key is definitely moving in the right direction. Ferrari only if its engine disadvantages fully recovered and they can have development pace of RB & Merc. Where since 2007 they often start strong and cannot develop well in-season. While Red Bull is seen might taking similar back foot like 2014 due to late title race last season. Renault are in dismal of its management and no key star engineering personnel and Alpha Tauri are a budget midfield team. These 2 definitely not gonna leap. While Aston Martin still too early to get its key star engineering recruitment actually involve in project, I dun rule them out to improve from 2021, but another team to rule out. Therefore, 3: McLaren 4: Ferrari 5: ™️Racing Point 6: Alpha Tauri 7: Alpine

Williams went from scoring 5 points in 2013 (scoring points in 2 GPs) to scoring 320 points in 2014 (while scoring points in every race and getting 9 podiums). Yes, a lot of it was to do with Merc engines, but as Williams showed you can't win only with a good engine. Williams fell back in the order because they couldn't upgrade/ develop their chassis as fast as others could.
On AT, they had a super car over 1 lap but not for racing.
What's the point of this video? On one hand, you say that the regulation change will change the running order, but on the other hand, you already have given Merc and RB the 2022 title. Merc and RB will fall back. When was the last time RB came out with a super car right from the start (discounting 2021 because that car was carried over from 2020 with minor changes and we all know how good RB is developing their cars over the season)? So much effort went into the Merc-RB title fight that it's easy to see they will be on a backfoot at the start or maybe even for the duration of the season. You say that Ferrari has the best chance to "join" the battle in the front, while they will be the cause why there will be the battle. Merc and RB can join that battle.

WTF are you talking about?? 2014 Williams wasn't with Merc engines. and Merc failed only the 2010 regulations. otherwise they never failed. absolute non sense comment dude. 🙄🤦‍♂. even the rest of the comment is in the WTF league.

The thing is that it's completely new regs so mercedes and red bull might put all their money on the cars but not produce a good 1 which then put all the others team: Mclaren, Ferrari, Alpine(which I believe are the best challengers), on the front foot. They would be on the front foot if that happened because the drivers are absolutely brilliant too.

I would assume that HAAS is going to the be a contender based on their claims to under performing for the past 2 years being that they were developing their 2022 car.

There are just so many aspects to take in that makes me even more excited for the 22´ season. The fact that everyone starts off with a clean state should mean that anyone could challenge for the title (some team(s) will get it terribly wrong).
The first budget cap (for real as the previous season just had cars carry over) which people underestimate, teams like Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari usually spend double, triple or even more than what the cap is, I do think at least one of these teams will struggle quite a lot because of it.
McLaren new engineers can finally design their own car instead of trying to improve a car from Ron Dennis´s time.
Aston Martins new project, will be interesting to see if they are on the right path, same with Alpine and Williams.
I have a strange feeling that we will be seeing a new team at the top and during this new era.

Cause Schumacher got to do a lot of extra testing for Ferrari so thought the FIA kept a tight clamp on that to keep teams from having an unfair advantage.

I think Mercedes gets back to dominating. Their engine is still superior, and had it not been for the rule changes in 2021 to bring them down to RB level, they would have dominated that season as well.

I feel like Ferrari, Aston & Alpine could be poised to make huge leaps forward to become true title contenders in 2022. I have a gut feeling that McLaren might slip back, while Williams will be firmly in the midpack with AlphaTauri. Mercedes & RB will definitely be contenders from the get go if you ask me, while Alfa & Haas are probably going to be stuck at the back of the grid...

I think a lot of teams are going to be a lot faster than they have been in the past few years. The grid is going to be tight for sure. With that said though, It takes more than raw speed to challenge for wins and the championship. You need to have the budget to develop at the speed of the top teams. Further more, I think that if there is a team that is going to have a large advantage over the rest of the field, it is going to be red Bull. The one that wins this year is going to me the one with the most accurate aero. A powerful engine is not going to be enough.
And who is better at that than mister Newie.

I think Alpine will deliver in 2022, Renault has been working on the engine since 2020, they've had so much time i doubt they'll mess up.
Also the Enstone team has been nailing the big regulation changes almost everytime (late 90's, mid 00's and early to mid 10's) so it's only right to expect they'll do it again.
Also they've had like 20 to 30% more wind tunnel time than Mercedes and RedBull, which is a lot...
They were also the least spending team in 2021, spending around $900k on repairs while the 2nd least spending McLaren spent $2.7M...
    Thats a lot of cash.
