It generally depends on the complexity of the progression and/or how long we’re staying on each chord. For a simple progression like this, I’d generally navigate from the root of the home key (A), but maybe highlight chord tones here and there. However, if it’s a blues or a non diatonic progression, I’ll definitely navigate from the root of each chord.
