I work in a music shop and was able to try this out a few days ago. I will say from a visual standpoint I think it’s my favorite modeler out there. The UI looks great and is easy to use. With that being said - it definitely doesn’t sound any better than everything else that’s out there.

I tend to agree. As far as price, it is in the same ballpark as the Helix or Kemper floor unit, but honestly, I use an HX Stomp as an amp modeler and outboard pedals. Works great for what I need it to do. I do own a Helix, but it has too many features to be a terrific piece of gear unless you want to spend a ton of time tweaking and saving snapshots (really the most useful feature). Tried several other modelers and just haven’t found one that speaks to me yet.
Holding final judgement for now. I’ll watch this for a year or so before getting too serious.

I love Fender. That said, the modeling sounds comparable to everything else out there. I wasn’t blown away, it’s not bad at all, but it’s not $1699 good. The interface looks pretty cool though, if this was 800 bucks, I’d be more into this, but 1700 isn’t a price I’d pay when I can get a Quad Cortex or kemper with years of bugs worked out and patches. I’m curious to try it, but not buy it.

@@ChainsawChristmas That's awesome if it's holding value. I bought an AXE FX III when it first came out for $2100 and sold it 2 years later for $1900. I was glad to get that much for it because when their next digital modeler comes out, it will drop in value like a rock like versions I and II and Ultra. Nice tech but it becomes outdated very quickly. Might as well just do plug-ins that cost much less with an audio interface if you prefer digital modeling.

I'm actually more excited and keen to grab a TONE MASTER FRFR speaker than the board!
I use a Helix LT and a Headrush speaker and it's always annoyed me that my speaker doesn't look like a guitar amp... OR that I have no EQ on it to adjust the cab to the rooms/stages I'm playing on on the speaker!
So, thats a huge plus and will be keen to grab one. 😊🙏

On all my Helix presets I have a path that splits off right at the end with a Gain and mono EQ block, that outputs to the send output. That way I can have my mono FRFR stage monitor, and stereo going to FOH. But I also have gain and EQ for tweaking. I also have an EQ favourite that I've designed to make my FRFR match my studio monitors at home.

I tried this out for the first time last weekend at a music store near my friend’s place and just played it earlier today ay my local guitar store and I’m still genuinely impressed by how versatile it is. I genuinely love all the different presets that make you sound like all your favourites guitarists as well as the creativity you have with making your own tones as well. Now I still love my analog pedals to death and I also have a Boss ME-25 (which was my first “real” pedalboard), but when it comes to digital gear this Tone Master Pro is definitely a killer new pedal

Saw the EXP assign and then they showed the stomps were encoders. That was the moment I said, this is the perfect form factor and I've owned the Helix & Kemper Racks with Friends having the Axe FX & Cortex. Fender does more than any of them and has the money. The fact the VP knows how to use the unit and is there doing the demo is a testament to how Fender remains as a company.
Only thing I hope they do is release a full featured App version of this like Helix Native, not just an editor. If they do, I'm probably selling the rest of my toys except for a few uniques like the Martin Stereo Comp, S.A. EQ2 and my Bobber Wah or Boss/Roland synth related guitar gear.
Plus the 1K Watt FSFR cabs for only $550?
Won't need for anything else for normal guitar production or live shows. Just build your workflow around it and be happy.
Go Fender! Been a fender owner and player for 30 years. Plus these days, I'll give you all my money if you can tell the difference between the Real Amp & Pedals vs IR & Multi-FX in the mix. If you play on a label produced album or in one of those bands, it's just getting crushed and listened to on cell phone speakers mostly anyway. Lmao I think I'll go with Carry Ons and not breaking my back to get to shows. I think this pedal might even replace the HX Stomp as the most used device out there and might even replace some people's boutique pedals.

I’ve been using the Blackstar Amped 2 for all my gigs throughout 2023 ( intended for it to just be a back up fly rig, but ended up using it as my main rig). One of the main selling points of the Blackstar ( apart from its simplicity)is the ability to be able to power any 8 or 16 ohm unpowered cab. I don’t get why they can’t use the same technology in all these modellers. Having to go out and purchase extra frfr cabs is what puts me off the most when considering upgrading to something like this 🙄. Lee trying his best to keep engaged as the fender guy starts deep diving 🥴. Will be interesting to see the boy’s opinion when they’re both back in the room doing a proper demo. 🤔

I’ve never played with any of this stuff, never owned an amp and at 66 just now ordered up some leftie guitars. Just found this 2 days ago and was just planning to buy a Roland Jc-40. Metal has never been my thing but buying something like this allows me to consider different options. Maybe people like me are the target audience they’re after. No invested in a bunch of gear, this saves me huge bucks and time. Not sure why I’d need a real amp now, just an additional cab or two. Playing Chet Atkins’s through one of these could be cool.

Fender Mustang Micro is probably the closest thing, its using similar tech i suspect albiet stripped down. It was noticably better quality then my mustang amp i think the 24 bit upgrade had to do with it, its just not as tweakable/modular but i wonder if you could hack it to be. Considering the micro was only $100 and had the latest and greatest in modelling tech, even an audio interface built in, yeah 1600 is a little much for probably similar tech in there.

Looking forward to hear comparisons with old vintage Fenders. I got the impressions its only models of Fenders modern line up? I love the idea, and I will say that it has a WAY better footprint and UI than any other product other than the QC. But it appears to be bigger than the QC, which makes it a challenge to get on my board. That’s the reason I haven’t embraced Fractal, Kemper, or Helix. All their floor devices are too big. (and the HX stomp and GT1000 have too small of a screen to be easy)
Small size and price is why the ToneX has been so popular, but it’s missing all the other effects features, and the UI is not good. So Fender is headed in the right direction.
The key for me will not be the amps as much as the effects pedals.
I also don’t know if they’ll continue to support it with updates and add ons as frequently as others do. But I’ll keep an eye on it.

It's funny how every one jumps on the digital wagon now :D I remember when people were looking at me weird when I showed up without an amp and was done with my live setup in 3min. Now it's becoming more and more standard. Not because it sounds better or anything, but because it's just so easy, you have more control over your sound and you have more time to actually play guitar instead of turning knobs and taking 100 photographs of little units so you remember the settings...
That being said, we need a tone master unit with an expression pedal built in. Why advertise it as a full featured unit and then you still have to plug in stuff to make it complete. I've been playing a digital modeler for years and the expression pedal is one of the most important featues.

The key to market success is longevity - if Fender keeps developing and supporting this for years to come this may be a great product. Many people hate Line6 products but what they did with Helix, which debuted 8 years ago (!!!) is a prime example to follow: instead of putting a new model every year and abandon the previous one they keep the platform alive. But I keep my fingers crossed - competition is not a bad thing for us, customers

Many ideas came from that, the first light around the buttons, 4 external loops, amp switching control, full MIDI….and all these about 16 years ago!! They where way a head of the time. I keep a hx stomp xl on my board for delay, reverb, and modulation, but never could get a good tone with it amp wise. Tried the headrush, big helix, etc. But I sat down with this thing and had it figured out, making killer presets in maybe 5-10 minutes. If you can get ahold of one to try it, do it. The problem with this technology is... that if you wait for the next best thing to come out, you'll never make a decision and purchase something. If I let it, this vid could easily spoil my mindset about my current pedal board. But, I love my Boss GX-100 with a TONEX pedal in the effects loop. Looks like a pretty good unit for Stage use. It doesn't sound significantly different or better than many Modelers already in the Market. The UI looks pretty good, but it demonstrates how many settings/parameters are involved in getting a good sound.
I think it's too big for desktop use, and the price is prohibitively high. A price of around $1,200 US is probably where it should be, but I don't know if that's practical given its hardware features.
I've had an HX Stomp for 2.75 years, and it meets all my needs. I got the amazing Helix Native Plugin on sale for $50, so a total price for both of $550. I don't think the Tone Master Pro would add $1,150 of value over what I already have. 😎

I'm not the biggest fan of the digital stuff but it has it's place and, it's getting really good. Right now I'm using a Strymon Iridium or a DMS Simplifier for silent practice into a PC. I'm not playing live right now, but if I were I'd be using a small pedalboard into a small combo. For silent stages I'd simply replace the combo with the Iridium or Simplifier. For an all-in-one solution I'd probably go with a HX Stomp.
The tone master pro sounds good but, these are the issues I have.
    1. Menus - There's still a lot of them.
    2. Cost - I get this is aimed at pro musicians but there needs to be a simpler lite version aimed at £500 price point to rival the HX stomp or Uridium
    3. OUT of warranty support - This NEVER gets talked about. What if it gets damaged? Can it be repaired? Will Fender even offer out of warranty repairs for it? If not the price is massively prohibitive. Mainly because if you play live you'll need a spare or, if you make this your main go to product, you'll have to consider the replacement cost and availability if it goes down.
Seems like a great product IF you have the cash. Love the video. Entertaining as always!!! 😁👍

Agreed. My thought process is, that with their Tone Master line of Amps being around ~$1000, they didn't want to cannibalize sales of their own amps. There has already been discussion ad nauseum for the Tone Masters only modeling 1 amp, vs modelers modeling hundreds, so they didn't want to immediately create that kind of dissent within their own brand. So they decided to launch this and price it sky high. At $1700, it makes zero sense choosing this over the already matured Helix/Fm9/Quad Cortex/Kemper etc. Don't be surprised if they launch the stripped down "Tone Master blues club" or whatever next year for a much more realistic price.

The UI in particular seems like it was designed with usability in mind, as evidenced for example by little things like the three different methods for adjust knob parameters. Line 6 have terrible support. At least that's been my experience with the Pod GO. I've had to send it off twice. Once for the faulty input, that they know about, but won't fix in production even though it's one less capacitor to fix it.
The next time was because a main function knob just locked up and stopped working and another knob had been on the fritz since I got it back the first time. (I've owned the device for maybe 5 months and only been used in my home studio.) They didn't fix the second knob because it wasn't in the rma title... Because the title is the only thing the techs read. They failed to properly wrap the device, because bubble wrap is outside the skill set of their techs, and it got the absolute shit beat out of it, frame dented on both sides, paint broken, top panel is dented, and the paint is scrunched off on one side.
So now I'm sending it off for a replacement RMA... That surely won't have the input fixed.
They also don't give you a shipping label for RMA work. Well, shipping to California from the east coast is an expensive pain.
