Wow! Great to see Paul well! He’s not been seen in months! Hoping for more vlogs from him. Cheers Adam, really pleasant video. Awesome pics, even with tiny lightning. 🙂
That location is just amazing. There's always something going on with the light. Lovely to see Paul again, I've missed him. Both of you stay safe and well.
Good eye. We had a long look at that wall but from where the path was it didn't work. We would have had to wade through chest high nettles and then they would have been dominant in the foreground. The drone saw it best. Maybe one for later in the year though when the nettles are gone.
Good evening Adam, first of all, thank you for what you´re doing. You´ve been a big inspiration to me and I´m more and more interested in/excited about landscape photography!! Next I want to ask you, where can I find your podcasts please? I would love to watch them!! Big thanks from Czech republic. Steven
Forget the interval timer; just set the shutter mode to continuous and RAMBO away with a locking cable remote switch. This will minimize the time spent with the shutter closed. (The lightnings seen to know when it's safe to come out! LOL ) You're quite right in that shorter shutter times produce better lightning contrast when the background is somewhat bright. Whether you are using an ND, a trigger, or just a plain lens, keep the shutter times as short as possible! ISO and F stop affect both the lightning AND the background, so IMO you are not gaining anything by juicing the ISO. Think of the lightning as a flash going off, and expose accordingly. Keep at it; Boltz in Britain are as rare as sea monsters! :) I quite like your shot. As you point out, ANY lightning shot is also a landscape shot, and your pretty image benefits greatly from the petite bolt off in the distance.
both the photos you showed towards are absolutely stunning. Great light and atmosphere. It was lovely to see you guys in action. Cheers from Cape Town.
Must pop over to that area now Autumn colours are coming through. Though I might cheat and park at the bottom near the lake, the climb back up is a bit of a killer.
I hear the PM is talking about a no travel band within the UK. So far we haven't had no such bands here in Michigan. On a lighter subject, the fall colors are really starting to pop and the weather has been great.
Watching you trying to put the grad in brought something to mind...the scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail when the entire army shouts “Get on with it!!” I will say though I do look forward to your vlogs every week. Great images and great inspiration with each new video. Cheers👍🏻
It's the older 24-70mm f2.8. Not replaced it because it's still a fantastic lens. Bought it at the time because it was one of the only ones with image stabilisation. Link is in the description.
Time to get L bracket & another tripod for video so you have 2 hands free to use when taking images. Yes that is a nice image of the contrast in light & nice landscape image. well done.
You need a lightning rigger for daytimr ightning work. I don'y know whether it would be effective at that distance. The problem with ND filters is that they indiscriminately cut the lightning and the rest of the scene,.
Hi, the link in your description to Pauls youtube channel isn't correct, it simply redirects to a generic youtube overview page. I checked the link and it looks like at the and of your link HQ is added to the real url
@@Firstmanphotography Ok, I really don't understand it. Restarted firefox, tested again, then rebooted linux. Still the same. If I click on the link for the first time , then it shows me the normal youtube starting page - but if I then reload the page, then I'm on Pauls youtube page (checked, that the URL is the same after the reload and it is). Retried again with adblock disabled, still the same. Never experienced that before...Tested the same on my windows notebook...same behaviour, switched to my backup ISP, same behaviour. Anyway, the link is obviously correct, but here it doesn't work correctly on the first try on 2 computers and 2 ISPs, but the main thing is: If anybody else encounters, then simply reload the page and visit Pauls channels, because he has really good content.
Interesting vid Adam but the thing that really intrigued me was you saying you had various good reasons for not using an L-bracket. Can I ask what they are please? I'm intrigued as I can't imagine not using one and my L-bracket lives on my camera all the time.
Hi Adam, I really enjoy your videos , have you a reason for not using an 'L' bracket to provide easier and more stable transition between Landscape and Portrait orientation. The camera looks really awkward hanging off the side and it is virtually impossible to shoot Panos like that.
Yeah. I use the RC2 quick release plate on all my cameras and tripods which Let's me quickly switch cameras and tripods. Particularly useful for video. Almost all l brackets work with arca Swiss plates and I haven't found a good solution yet. When I'm not holding another camera in my other hand I've never had a problem tilting the ball head over. I don't feel the need for perfect precision.
@@Firstmanphotography Thanks for the prompt response. I like and use Manfrotto gear but not the RC2 so I swapped the plate for an Arca Swiss one. The best of both worlds for me. To each his own. Thanks again.
3 reasons Often there is slight movement in which can be distracting when blending. Also i am lucky that the DR of my camera is very good.. Finally many of my images are intentionally dark and moody. It adds to the atmosphere., having everything exposed correctly is not how my eye sees it.
Great to see Paul on the tube again , he was the first Vlogger i started learning from , you have played your part to Adam .
Good stuff Adam. Good to see Paul out and about again too.

Great to see Paul again. One of the best vloggers ever.
I have been planning a day put with Paul for ages. Love the bit of lightning well done

Awesome day mate. Thanks for coming along.
That location is just amazing. There's always something going on with the light. Lovely to see Paul again, I've missed him. Both of you stay safe and well.
Thank Brian. You too.

This is great. The images are truly wonderful. Welcome back to Paul too.
Hi Adam, hi Paul. I haven’t seen Paul on my feed for ages. Best get cracking on the vlogs lad 😀👍👍
Great shot on the woodland photography Adam, many congrats!!!!
Great video as always and it’s brilliant to see Paul again. How can we here the PODCAST?
Loved the wall at 8:25, would have loved a shot putting that into perspective.
Good eye. We had a long look at that wall but from where the path was it didn't work. We would have had to wade through chest high nettles and then they would have been dominant in the foreground. The drone saw it best. Maybe one for later in the year though when the nettles are gone.

WOW!! The image you took is incredible!!
Great landscape photography. loved it
Wonderful image Adam and I am so please I spotted the lightening before you had to point it out.

Great vlog Adam and super landscape images, love the lightning mate, keep it coming.
Love the lightning shot. Great job.
Thanks mate

beautiful images to compliment a very enjoyable episode Adam. Was nice to see Paul too and certainly miss his presence on youtube.
Beautiful results
Congrats
Thanks mate

Great image with the lightning Adam, good to see Mr Johnson too!
Thanks mate. Was a great day with Paul
Nice! This could have been split into two videos. Good job
4sec has always been the sweet spot for me. ;)

I've got a lightning shot like that, nothing but ocean between it and my camera though and it was the middle of the night. You got a lovely image.
Thanks Kerry
Beautiful image, Adam!
what printer do you use?
what kind of printer and paper you use
love that photo, it looks like mordor in the distance
Ha. You're the second person to say that. Good title for the shot.
That was an wonderful image Adam. Lovely light and let's say that the lightning was a bonus for such an epic toil. Loved that man.
Thanks mate
18:55 Mordor in the distance.
Ha. Good title for the image. Thanks.
Podcast? do you have a link to that .... I don't seem to be able to find one. I enjoy the videos and I reckon I would enjoy the podcast too :)
What Tamron lens are you using?
It's the older 24-70mm f2.8. Not replaced it because it's still a fantastic lens. Bought it at the time because it was one of the only ones with image stabilisation. Link is in the description.
Looks longer than 24-70

Hello Adam! What's the name of the app you use to check the sun? Greetings from France !

You should've just used some sticky tape or chewed gum to stick the grad filter on. 🤣
I think if you shoot panorama you will get all the elements you want but I never saw you shooting panorama maybe you will consider it next time
Unfortunately that tree was in the way.
Hi what's your podcast Adam?
Good Video if you like lightning have a look at Nick Page incredible shots he has
Adam, Minimalist approach...don't try to include everything...go for the most important elements to make the image!
Why doesn’t Paul bracket his woodland shots?
3 reasons Often there is slight movement in which can be distracting when blending. Also i am lucky that the DR of my camera is very good.. Finally many of my images are intentionally dark and moody. It adds to the atmosphere., having everything exposed correctly is not how my eye sees it.
Great. Thanks for responding Paul 👍
8:20 Would look better with a dog in it.
Great video but please...stop....speaking....like...this....its....really...annoying. :)
