The Guitar Solo by Eddie Van Halen from Michael Jackson's song Beat It. Played by Frederik Bang on his Ibanez Prestige plugged to his Engl Ritchie Blackmore Signature Amp.
What I love about this solo isn't just that it's played very 'fast' but that it has a rhythm and soul that's carried throughout. Eddie's virtuosic playing here, especially with those strategic use of bends really adds the meat and potatoes to this solo. It was played with feeling and purpose.
@Lard Eppelein Yeah once you actually get it in tune (after a while you figure out how to get there quick) it holds tune for months on end, and worse case you have fine adjustment screws on the bridge
Just found this, WOW what a fabulous performance, so beautifully done and sounds just so damned good. RIP Eddie, we are still listening to your influence!
When people dislike something like this I never understand. He played it note for note and with ease. Why dislike it, cuz his grin, cuz his hair, his jean jacket? Seriously pathetic. Good job homie you killed it.
@@jannichar someone’s jealous. Considering the fact that he picks flawlessly and has all his fingers in proper positions, I don’t see why he’d put that much effort just to fake something
I love watching this guy play, you can tell he's having so much fun and feeling like a badass and enjoying the results of his work, this is what playing guitar is to me and you exude it so well man.
If you think that's impressive, wait until you discover Allan Holdsworth, Eddie's hero. In fact, Eddie recorded this solo with an amplifier he borrowed from Allan. Allan was doing shit way more insane than this in the 70's. Check out his track "Joshua".
I like the stiffened vibrator bar hit in the beginning. Shows you how amazing they both are. What's crazier is that Freddy is reproducing Eddy on-the-spot in 1-single-take experierence.

Well done Fred. Note to novice players trying to play this solo: watch and learn from this guy. He does a number of things really well. First, perfect timing. Meaning he is not struggling to play a passage that is too high in difficulty, therefore he isnt rushing it. The notes land in time, or a fraction behind the downbeat, giving the solo that yummy, swinging bluesy feel. Secondly, the dynamics are spot on. He is feeling the notes and giving it character with raunchy harmonics, pick scrapes and in tune bends and vibratos. Third, the tone is warm and tasty and well thought out. And lastly, look at him. He has swagger. Clearly enjoying himself and pulling the listener into the music piece with him. Good stuff, kid. Rock on.
He did a very good job. You could've just said that. I mean, If anyone would want to cover this song, they'd want to do it as close to the original as this. The only "difference" I heard was in the last 2-3 seconds, where he has to hit the last high note. He's a little bit late with hitting it, and doesn't slide back down to the main riff, like in the original. Other than that, really well done.
Each of Eddie Van Halen’s solo is so unique, inventive, and distinctly Eddie that you know just from the first note. Beat It is one of his best for sure. Awesome cover too.
This is still honestly one of the nicest things I've ever heard. One of the most underrated guitar solos and you just completely nail it. I come back at least once a week and I can't not loop the video and watch it like 30 times. Incredible.
