Charles doesn’t know how good he had it. Diana was an amazing wife and mother. (And would have been an amazing queen) Camilla could never.
Margaret should've been allowed to marry Townsend without having to choose between her privileges and him. This must've been karma for Elizabeth since 3/4 of her kids got divorced. Apparently, it was also because of Margaret's experience that Elizabeth allowed Harry to marry Megan and let them step down.
She didn't have to allow Harry to marry Meghan, he was 6th in line so she didn't have to approve it. You're making her sound much more progressive than she really was.
@@angiemono8539 She could've still discouraged the union and yes, it was because of Margaret that she gave Harry and Meghan some leniency and was allowed to step down. And while she was still quite traditional, probably the main thing that sustained her in the throne for so long, a lot of progress happened with her, notably women didn't have to step down in the line of succession if a younger male was born.

Henry the VIII created the Church of England so he could get divorced and remarried, then Edward the VIII had to abdicate cuz the Church of England forbid marrying a divorcee! Like that was the whole reason it was created!!!
Plus he and Wallace never had children so the line if succession (if I'm not mistaken) would have gone to Elizabeth ii after he died. I'm pretty sure her Dad predeceased Edward but other than that the line is the same... Also Charles was allowed to marry Camilla and they're both divorced was it only deemed okay after she hit menopause and could no longer have kids?
@catherinegilbert5951 things changed between 1936 and 2005. Charles wasn't originally allowed to marry Camilla which is how Diana even came about but also Margaret was not allowed to marry her first love either because he was divorced. Elizabeth didn't want another Edward situation on her hands if she said no to charles again. If the rules had stuck William would be king now and Harry would have lost his place in line marrying Meagan

Diana was a beloved person and used her title to improve the lives of others, however, they were never a suitable match. He should have married Camilla all along. Maybe then, although not making as much of an impact perhaps, Diana might still be with us. Just my opinion of course, in no way factual and no disrespect intended.

She did want to do the interview. She knew Bashir was lying, her own brother told her not to go through with it. But she wanted the world to know what she was going through, which is also why she approved of Andrew Morton's book and allowed her friends and family to give him information for the book. The only reason she couldn't definitely say she was working with him, was because at the time, she was a working royal.
@@SapphireSloaneI only wish Bashir were held more liable for her death- he fed her all kinds of lies that were proven false (the biggest one that the nanny was pregnant with her husband’s baby). I know that the royals didn’t treat her well and this isn’t disputing that. I just think everyone involved should be held responsible

Surprised to see that the Easter Crisis of 1920 in the Danish monarchy didn't make the list. It almost meant the end of the Danish monarchy and have kept the royal family from involving themselves too much in politics since.
I will always suspect that Diana's death was actually murder. There's too many weird things about it. The car had been changed. I think the driver had been changed. The route was obviously different. Like its just weird.

@@Dreahuggsalot What makes it so "obvious"? The coroners themselves said that had Diana been wearing a seatbelt she probably would've survived the crash. The paparazzi chase definitely played a big role, but to say the BRF had something to do with it is lunacy. Diana was the mother of the future King, she herself was a monarchist and was extremely proud that William would one day be King. In her final years, her relationship with the BRF wasn't sunshine and rainbows, but there was a mutual respect.

I seriously can't blame Diana for having affairs herself since she was seeking for the love she couldn't get from her husband. While I get it that Camilla is Charles' true love, they absolutely had no right to build their happiness over Diana's unhappiness.

I do not understand why Charles and Camilla weren't allowed to marry because of her divorcee status at first, but then after Diana had died and a few years passed they were able to marry. Diana suffered and died way too young because of this family's fickle rules.

You have to understand that the monarchy is more like an institution than a family. Whether you like them or not, whether you like Megan and Harry or not, this family/institution has been going for centuries!!! I don't personally believe everything the media puts out there about any of them, none of us really know all the secrets; but this definitely makes me think: why did Princess Diana struggle with this family/institution and she went against lots of their traditions but we don't seem to judge her and criticize her but with Harry and Megan, we can't seem to empathize and sympathize with them. You have to remember that Princess Diana also gave many revealing interviews, and we are okay with but not her son's and daughter-in-law. I personally don't really care, at least not that much. Cannot we just leave them alone?! Remember she didn't call them family. She called them "the establishment"

Honestly, it would be difficult to find royals who are honest, faithful to their subjects and loyal to their spouses. It is far easier to find royals who repeatedly satisfy lust and greed at the expense of their families and kingdoms. It’s time for the antique institution of monarchy to be abandoned. I think there are two main reasons that royal status still exists anywhere-to serve as superficially admirable, Disney-dream material for their subjects, and to provide gossip fodder for the media.
