I’ve been watching him forever (I’m only 31 but I discovered his music and stuff at 10). He just seems like a really nice guy. I wish some of the entertainers today realized those wise words he spoke. You get paid handsomely for it; it’s not a favor. Just like we all get paid…for the work. Such a humble man and so grateful for his position he held in all our lives 🥰 warms my heart ❤️
Dean was the kind of guy that you'd love to spend the day with, playing golf, singing, cards, you name it. He was just a great guy. And to see him with Glen Cambell, another natural talent, is a highlight.
It's simple...you gotta LOVE what you do. Dean never made it look like work 'cos it wasn't to him. Then it really works 'cos you are humble, not so serious and have no ego. Everybody LOVED Dean. That's quite something.
When he said he could only do stuff "good" I can understand why he thinks that way. Dino was a perfectionist. I think he was amazing, but like many perfectionists, he didn't realize how really talented he was, and in every area. I miss you Dean. My life was so much better because you were in it.
This interview was from 1983 and it's one of the more revealing interviews of how Dean acted off camera. He was very laid back and a slow talker. Once onstage though he became the character Dean Martin much more animated and quick witted but he was not that way in private.
What is it about this guy and other guys like him. He puts you at ease. He’s a regular guy. Affable. Non pretentious. Funny. Not to serious. What a great guy.
You just couldnt help but smile when in the company of Dean Martin no wonder he was so loved .Although it is reported that Dean never really drank when performing,I feel sure he embibed the grape throughout his life. The awesome demand for his company must have been great and though I dont know his age in this clip his eyes are showing the tireness of the full and wonderful life he has shared, Vive Deans Memory forever. Thank you posting this tribute to Dean.
Ah yes in 1964 as a 15 yr old I remember playing the heck out of the 45 of Everybody Loves Somebody! Loved Dean Martin as a singer actor and his TV show he was one of a kind.
He never claimed that he didn't drink at all, but he was NOT an alcoholic, , and his son, Ricci, said in his book of 2002, that he never saw his father drunk in his life.. The slightly-picked, slightly- tottery personality that he "grew" for himself, was all part of an act - just the new persona that he needed, because after he ended his comedy partnership with Jerry Lewis, he was, in that department, out on a limb, and that was the new Dean Martin....and it was very funny!!
That was fast! I just uploaded it today. Glad you liked it. I also have three other documentaries on him: the E! True Hollywood Story, A&E Biography and a british one called "Wine, Women and Song". The first two I have only on VHS, and the last one is on a DVD that doesn't work so well.
a volcano if talent. The reason Dino flourished and Jerry floundered is simple really. Jerry although funny in spurts was a "one trick pony" while Dean really was the whole package. On his own he was clown and straight man. Plus a really solid actor. Look at the movie Mr. Rico, a middling movie to be sure but Dean practically saves it just by being the closest version to himself we've seen. Look at Conan O'Brien, all his funny prancing, and "fey", movements? Watch Dino at the beginning of his tv show and you'll see stuff Conan is still doing.
Johan Nilsson...I appreciate the upload very much...I truly believe that everyone my age enjoys Dean Martin more than most other entertainers. I would just like to tell you though, for future reference, Please take out the commercials!! They only waste time. Thanks again...take care.
Everyday i think about our beautiful state of California going to the dogs. wish we could dig up all them famous stars and move them out of that state. All the famous stars of the early 50's are gone.
He was one of the best and no one can replace him. There will never be anyone like him.
I love his music and still am a huge fan of his!!!
