You are such a wonderful host, and so very delightful, I wish that I could watch your show here in California USA. I absolutely LOVE DEAN MARTIN, and he happens to be my favorite Male Singer. About two years I passed through Dean Martin's small hometown of Steubenville, Ohio. I asked a local where I could find a memorial or a statue of Dean so I could photograph it. To my surprise he said there were none but a sign on a highway outside of town that they named in his honor. "Are you kidding me?" I thought. Here you have this big time star from the 40's through the 70's and all this little Podunk town could come up with was a state highway sign? It's not like he was just born there and left at an early age. He lived in that small town well into his twenties until before chasing his dream in New York. If anyone from Steubenville with some clout or some organizational skills is reading this do yourself a favor and properly memorialize your favorite son.
bthor76 Do they still have the annual Dean Martin Festival there that Deana writes about in her book, or has that died out with the passage of time since he passed away?
They still have the Festival as of this past year. it was in celebration of Dino turning 100. Not sure if its going to be held any longer on account of the person in charge retiring from the postion
Eds Epistle That would be a real shame for it to end but I suppose it will all depend on whether they can find someone who cares enough to keep it going. Also, I suppose, on whether it would bring in enough fans and tourists to make it financially viable for the town, which so often these days seems to be the bottom line when it comes to things like that. Whatever happens in Steubenville, there are still many of us fans around the world who remember Dean with great fondness, and can still enjoy the wonderful entertainment he provided via the modern technology that never even existed back when he was still with us.
Dino was very supportive of Marilyn Monroe during the shooting of 'Something's gotta give', when her brain was failing time and again to remember the lines. He was very patient with her.
The Don Lane show, I used to watch this every Saturday night as kid growing up in the 80's. The best Australian variety talk show ever and probably the best Dean Martin interview recorded for television. Wonderful memories, so glad you posted this for all to see. Thanks!

A few years ago for Christmas my nephew then still in high school asked for a CD of Dean's, I was so surprised that he even knew who he was and liked that type of music. He was thrilled I had got it for him.
Dean was just very special. He knew of Marilyn Monroe's insecurities, but he fought like heck to keep her grounded. Unfortunately, Marilyn's worst enemy was herself. RIP, Dean.
I live in Lee Major's home town and all we have is a sign and the high school football stadium that he came home and dedicated. I think he may have had it renovated too. It was back 80s or 90s. I had moved away by then and unfortunately didn't get to see him. Six million dollar Man and Heath Barkley the Big Valley. The Fall But! He's still gorgeous ❤️

choff56 People love to say that and Dino Jr's death was a huge blow, but Dean was already getting weak and in failing health by 1987. The point is, if Dean's health had been good in 1987 he most likely WOULD have recovered.
What a great, fun interview. Dean didn't do to many of these things, which is why it was so special. Be honest... didn't you start to smile the moment he came on screen... and didn't you end up with a great big grin on your face when it was over? Dean Martin made people happy. What better commentary can you have for a man's life?

Dean was just very special. He knew of Marilyn Monroe's insecurities, but he fought like heck to keep her grounded. Unfortunately, Marilyn's worst enemy was herself. RIP, Dean.
No those who would use a person will real mental illness for their own gain were her worse enemies
@@reginaeiland9358 right! She was mk ultra monarch programmed!
Just magnificent Dino!
Thanks for watchin'.
Wonderful interview. Thanks for uploading!
Sure thing.
Loved this! Thanks for sharing!
I love him!since I was alittle girl..I always had an eye for tall dark and handsome and he certainly was.
Always enjoyed his music, his movies, TV Shows So laid back always with a smile and dry sense of humour ❤🎉❤
OMG, this interviewer „ very sorry” Elvis just left the building.
It's hard to imagine Dean Martin being nervous about any performance anywhere.
That was f'ing great. I'm so glad I watched all of it. Thank you!

Absolutely my favorite interview ❤️❤️❤️❤️💚🇮🇹👌🏻
Glad you enjoyed it, the original VHS AND DVD copy I made of it got taken by hurricane Harvey so thank god it's on TH-cam.
I had to video capture my own TH-cam post.
He's one of the best, loved him since I was 15
Wow it's like time dint pass trough him!
something I never seen before, thanks
Thanks for sharing, loved it!
Still Deans singing is near by us. it is fantastic.
I met Dean on three different occasions, a wonderful guy with none of that big star ego.
That's the story most everybody tells about Dean, just a nice friendly easy going guy who happened to be a superstar whether he knew it or not.
@@2packs4sure Do you happen to know the name of the guy interviewing Dean?
@@jonathanlane5432 It's Don Lane,,, hell,, I thought you might be related !!
@@2packs4sure Thanks. No relation.
Wonderful! At this point in Dino's life, he was still happy: Dino, Jr., was still living.
yea, once his son died, his life was over , never recovered
choff56 People love to say that and Dino Jr's death was a huge blow, but Dean was already getting weak and in failing health by 1987.
The point is, if Dean's health had been good in 1987 he most likely WOULD have recovered.
I don't love to say it at all , just going by what his daughter and Jerry Lewis said
.
choff56 I should have said that it's the common belief.
Thank you for sharing 🥰
Sure thing,,, glad you enjoyed it !!
Absolutely awesome!
Loved Dean ❤️
Enjoyed his work, his style, his humor! Just an awesome man!
Excellent, I'm glad you enjoyed it !!
Well said Roger Wilko,
annnd out......
I always start to smile when Dean starts anything and I always feel lifted after watching anything with him.
+Roger Wilko Well said! (I just saw that you said,"well said" too,2packs4sure!)
THANKS ALOT FOR THIS UPLOAD OF DINO
You have no idea how happy I am to see this! Thank you for the upload!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Gah he was still beautiful at 66!
He was beautiful.
Dr pimple popper
Interviewer is Don Lane who had a "tonight" show in Australia. I remember Dean Martin had his TV show broadcast on Saturday nights in the 1960's in Australia. Its was black & white, colour tv arrived here in 1975.
brilliant man, funny , sexy , charismatic, good looking and probably my fave guy
Love Dean myself, no more than Jerry though! :)
I miss these real comedians I'm glad I got to experience this when I was a kid in the 80s
I watched this interview live on tv in Melbourne. Dean Martin never came to Australia. His popularity was displayed by the applause from the audience. Now both Dean and the host, Don Lane, have gone.
i would love to go back in a time machine and see some of those Vegas shows with The Rat Pack -
That would be the ONLY way I'd go to Vegas,, Time Machine set for the 57' - 72' era...........
i agree
I recall seeing this particular Don Lane show where he interviewed Dean Martin! Was always a fan of both.... Just awesome.
I love him!
My Dean....i cry when i visit him here. I love him so much!
Ah Dino, that was cool.
The best! We love you dean.
Legendary!
