For a quality of life feature, please consider adding a save formation feature to the vanilla game experience. The mod allowing to do this is completely necessary to enjoy playing battles manually, but it doesn't work so well. Playing battles manually really is what keeps Warhammer interesting, and being able to save your battle formations is key to making the start of each battle a breeze.
Isn't that already in the base game? Haven't played in a while but I could swear it automatically loaded the formation I put them in at the start of the last battle in every new battle. Unless there was an obstacle that would break it up it usually worked pretty well. And I didn't use any mod that does it.
@@lp4514 It's weird, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't but tbh most of the time when it does I'd rather it not. I mean usually my formation depends not only on which army I have, but also which terrain I'm on and which opponent I face. And most of the time at least 1 of these changes from 1 battle to the next
@@meksil8776 Your comment makes no sense. "Id rather them not" Why? What difference does it make if they saved your formation and is no longer relevant vs just default scattering of units? Yes, if you change your army or are on very different terrain than the save doesnt help much, but than you are no worse off remaking your formation from scratch. When it does work and all you have to do is regroup your units... then it saves you a lot of time. So it can be useful just not always. Thats still better. Its not weird. It saves your last formation but if your army comp has changed or terrain is in the way on the new map the formation will be disturbed. Its that simple.
@@doc-holliday- Well by saying that I mean it's useless cause the formation isn't relevant in that situation or it doesnt even work and scatters the units instead. Might aswell just have put the units next to each other as it usually does. Yes it is weird, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt. It isnt a matter of changing comps or terrain, sometimes for 3 battles in a row it'll try to replicate the formation (and usually fail due to terrain yes) regardless of comps and terrain, sometimes even with the same army on the same terrain it won't even try. It seems to be totally random. Thing is though, if it tries to do it sometimes, then there's something in the code that is there in order to do that, which makes the game a bit bigger, adds potential bugs, optimization issues, and so on. Considering this I'd rather this not even be in the game code for it to be slightly lighter with less bugs. Idk if you saw Legend's video, but a viewer sent him a battle with 2 units from Elspeth that are in the game files but don't exist in the game. Why even have them in the game files then? Unless they intend to release them soon in which case it's fine, just remove this from the files if there's no use having them right??
@@meksil8776 Lol complete nonsense. When it works its beneficial and when it doesnt its absolutely no different then starting your units in any kind of random formation since we all just regroup and reform them how we want anyways. So no. And no its not random. Its quite clear how it works and how it doesnt. Im not surprised you cant figure it out based on your demonstrated ability to think logically.
Would love to see a feature that involves "Semi-confederations" during end game crises for certain faction combinations. an example: when there is a waaagh! crisis, it'd be great for the empire and dwarves to be able to "confederate" during the crisis. If you play as the empire you'd be able to build an outpost in a dwarven settlement (this mechanic already exists) which lasts until the crisis is averted. You can now go with an army to that region and recruit, let's say a limited amount of slayers
I like this format for content reveals, both from CA and Frontier. We get the game news we want but in a cheeky way that can wink and hint at future stuff. There's also willingness from the devs to admit where things missed the mark in the past. There's one other subtle benefit that shouldn't be underestimated: it reminds the gamers that there are regular people like us on the development side. It humanizes game development and hopefully diminishes the uglier side of fans criticizing the games. Asking for changes, good, throwing fits and throwing out nasty comments, not helpful.
I think as a rework they could make the battles a little bit slower to give players more time to admire the game, and make it less micro intensive. Nowadays I got a feeling that everything dies too quickly.
Please share this with the devs and everyone who works with total war over att CA: You guys have done such a great job this last year and the future seems so packed with fun. Thrones of decay and forward has been the best of CA I have seen in a long time and I need you to know that. Keep it up, you guys are awesome!
Hey, here's a little suggestion for Mitch: I really would like to be able as the Monogod-Factions to somehow confederate/acquire the Legendary Lords from the Champions of Chaos DLC (+Sigvald).
This would be really cool, though from a coding standpoint it might be difficult to move characters from one race group to another. If it’s not a big hassle that would be great but if it is then the effort would be better spent elsewhere
This type of update is night and day compared to the update letter we got from Mr. Rob Bartholomew. Keep up the excellent work. The passion the team has is coming through in the product.
Lizardmen don't need anymore dlc. They have enough lords/heroes/units. They do need campaign mechanics and maybe a legendary hero. But really a rework of the campaign mechanics! I would say a teleportation mechanic is a must! As well as a proper spawning mechanic. You could link it to the geometric Web. Where how better the Web the higher tier spawns you get (maybe use the warriors of chaos system?) and the teleportation can be from a city with a pilon and the higher the pilon the further the teleportation can reach. I still find it funny that the race known for their teleportation magic does not have any summoning or teleportation mechanic.
I love this format and I love that you don’t shy away from where things didn’t quite workout. I don’t really like any of these factions, but out of appreciation I’m buying this dlc
This is by far the best format for updating players and it's much appreciated. I know it will take quite a bit of time and effort to put these together but I promise you it's worth it.
Seems promising, the only "but" is that Skarr should have been a Lord me thinks. Love that they are planning a deserved Dlc to an amazing character like Egrimm Van Horstmann.
A huge Addition, that I think would put the Game to another Level would be Adding more music (like from the Trailers) into the Game. Its a Feature Which you dont always have on mind but Has such a big impact on the game experience. And i think many have Said that before i just Wonder if CA is Aware of that .
Looking at some of the items and set bonuses would be good for example theres a blue rarity staff in Nurgles faction that gives -10% miscast chance but the tricksters shard that everyone gets gives -20% miscast chance and its green rarity and as for set bonuses +5 corruption and other minor bonuses is really poor for how hard they are to get lol
5:30 This is fantastic, I've been wanting a savage orc lord for years now. 7:40 Ooohh I like this, this mercenary faction idea sounds very interesting and unique. 12:56 OMG IVE BEEN WANTING SKYLA!! 19:20 Yes please update the chaos invasion. And also this might be an unpopular opinion but please move all the demon and Chaos Warrior factions to the Northern Chaos Waste, Southern Chaos Waste, Norsca, and other places with a history of chaos corruption like the Brass Keep, and then maybe add like a portal mechanic for Chaos factions to give them the ability to invade far away lands. I want this because Skarbrand being in a random settlement in the badlands and Kugath being in historically feral Lizardmen islands under the dark lands makes no sense, it breaks my immersion every time I see them there.
Ku'gath start position actually makes a lot of sense. He's the plaguefather, looking for ingredients to concoct the most vicious plague ever to make up for drinking the content of Grandpa's pot. What better ingredient than what chaos dwarf factories release into river ruin?
@@meksil8776 But how does he manifest in the Dragon Isles? The Lizardmen must maintain uncorrupted corruption there and there my were never wiped out there (before the end times). Something would have to spread chaos corruption there to a point where Kugath can manifest his faction there.
@@meksil8776 No you don't understand. Chaos Daemons need pure magical energy (chaos corruption) to manifest in the physical realm. They come from an entire different universe with different laws of physics than ours called the realm of chaos. Without the pure magic aka chaos corruption their bodird can not form (materialize) in the Warhammer world (aka the physical world). This is why Chaos daemons aren't casually walking around uncorrupted places like the Empire, Bretonnia, Lustris, etc. it's because they need a tremendous amount of magical energy (chaos corruption) to manifest their bodies. This is why they can manifest in corrupted places like Norsca and the Chaos Wastes. Now where is this tremendous source of corruption that will allow daemons to manifest in the dragon isles (Kugath), or in the badlands (Skabrand)? There isn't one. If you want look at good chaos daemon faction placements look at Kyros Fateweaver (who starts in a corrupted place, the southern chaos wastes) or N'kari (the vortex has enough magic energy to where daemons can form if something goes wrong with it, so I'm ok with his start position).
@@x0lopossum Ok I wasn't exactly aware of that and I better understand your frustration, on the other hand, considering this, shouldn't you have to spread high corruption to a province before being allowed to invade it aswell then? Feels like it wouldn't be that fun to play demons this way. Still, the idea of starting in the chaos realms and invading mortal realms through portals (especially since those portals and chaos realms already exist in the game) would be pretty cool.
Please rework the Demon Prince: Use Glory to purchase units. Separate appearance from item effects. Equip a given appearance to open up an ability slot. Don't dedicate settlements to a particular chaos type; instead build buildings within the settlement to generate needed glory.
I am super stoked to see more of this type of communication with your community, and I see that quite a few share this sentiment. It's awesome to have these videos from the team at CA, that allows you to be a bit more open and transparent, and it's a good way to build a strong trust with the people who love these games and want to see them succeed! So you get full marks for that!

Bonuses and mechanics based around army composition to allow players to change their playstyles or adapt to different situations would be INCREDIBLE for allowing more themed armies and such.
Totally agree
07:35 Just speculating but that could also be used for Southern Realms/Tilea, could be another hint that they're coming since they probably wouldn't take the time to make a mercenary playstyle just for the one faction they do now.
So glad you all are doing these, the little hints of new content and transparency is excellent. Timing was also on point, because just a couple of days ago I was thinking about when we’d hear more news.
Hype! Also, I know y'all had issues with the communication and such in the past, and were rightly criticized for it. As such, I want to make sure that we take the time to praise you for this as well, these sorts of videos and communication are greatly appreciated!
I have not even watched the video, but I am so glad we get these regular updates now. I love how you folks managed to get back into touch with the community. Keep it up!
I like this content delivery style. Shoutout to the producers of this video!!
Scyla Anfingrimm should be available for Norsca as well. He originally fought with them and not with the chaos demons
8:50 paving the way for dogs of war!!
We can’t tell you how much we appreciate these Dev Chats and Diaries. Keep up the good work!
Im really “proud?” Of you guys i was worried about the game for a while but these sit downs to see into the progress really help
This is great coverage - awesome to see openly talking about things and asking for feedback.
The magic tournament is happening down south now that Wurrzag is joining them
Lore of the big waagh is one I always forget I enjoy a lot 😂
The Lustria Thunderdome has a RIGHT N PROPPA sequel now
The flow of the conversation was much improved from the last video. It literally felt like a natural conversation between you guys. Keep it up, great stuff! Very excited for the updates!
Man I hope we don't see The End Times yet, we still got to explore Khuresh, Ind and Nippon, plus several important LLs like Toddy, Thanquol, Neferata, Monkey King, The Red Duke, Nagash, Aborash, etc.
This format has got me back interested in following the dlc updates again. Hope there's more to come!
Really hoping Wulfrik and Skull Taker will get unique traits for defeating one another..
Please keep this up, I am starting to believe in you guys and leadership again. Transparent and regular communication is key.
Video was great! Love the bloopers included. The "human" approach and being straightforward is all we've wanted from your comms
Would love to see a feature that involves "Semi-confederations" during end game crises for certain faction combinations.
an example:
when there is a waaagh! crisis, it'd be great for the empire and dwarves to be able to "confederate" during the crisis. If you play as the empire you'd be able to build an outpost in a dwarven settlement (this mechanic already exists) which lasts until the crisis is averted. You can now go with an army to that region and recruit, let's say a limited amount of slayers
So happy to hear TW is trying to be customer focused now. Let's hope they follow through.
Just letting you all know that these videos are really appreciated as a form of communication!
I hope you can also hire Golgfag as another faction, that would be so cool!
Fantastic format for keeping us up to date with y'all! Love the transparency and details given of your process.
Oh, and btw, Kislev updates? YES! Also hoping for Lizardmen tweaking (and Khuresh snakey bois, fingers crossed).
Thank you for taking the time to iterate upon initial designs and builds. We appreciate it!
Make trade routes more important. This will add context for fleet combats and diplomacy
Would love a lizardmen rework. Especially their tech tree. Also an Empire endgame crisis would be a lot of fun to face!
These videos are a breath of fresh air. Good job lads. You’re turning it around like champs.
I love this format and I love that you don’t shy away from where things didn’t quite workout.
I don’t really like any of these factions, but out of appreciation I’m buying this dlc
1:16 I like this guy
This is by far the best format for updating players and it's much appreciated. I know it will take quite a bit of time and effort to put these together but I promise you it's worth it.
Will Daniel the God Slayer make a return someday?
I hope so. The idea on his faction/character is really cool
hes still in the game what do you mean lol
@@brightestlight9462 he is on life support like the god emperor
I’ve been too busy to play lately but I do enjoy watching these to keep up-to-date on what’s been going on.
Please give us Hotseat Mode CA! 🐶
Appreciate the attention given to subtitles. Very helpful for those of us who are hard of hearing.
Seems promising, the only "but" is that Skarr should have been a Lord me thinks.
Love that they are planning a deserved Dlc to an amazing character like Egrimm Van Horstmann.
arbaal is the flc lord instead of skarr
Yay a new dev interview! I love these videos it’s so good to see some of the team and to hear about Warhammer news!
Good patches/DLC and communicative devs. We are so back to a golden age of Total War.
we are SO back
Thanks for taking the time to discuss whats coming up. DLC team doing work.
I started Warhammer because I was overwhelmed by the Tomb King DLC😍. Please CA give more love to Khalida❤. rework for Tomb Kings please😢
I love this format, really good communication job 🙌🏼
Love you guys. Keep it going ! Big fan 😊
Thank you and please do continue with this lovely new openness. It's great and I am very happy. Thank you.
I'll be waiting for Nagash and vampire counts rework.
Neferata too.
Would love an updated/more in-depth geomantic web whenever you all can get to it! And I like the format
@@x0lopossum Well Balthazar Gelt didn't manifest into Cathay, what if Kugath manifested into the southern chaos wastes and then travelled to the isles
Please rework the Demon Prince:
Use Glory to purchase units.
Separate appearance from item effects.
Equip a given appearance to open up an ability slot.
Don't dedicate settlements to a particular chaos type; instead build buildings within the settlement to generate needed glory.
DO THE SAVAGE ORC DANCE
I am super stoked to see more of this type of communication with your community, and I see that quite a few share this sentiment. It's awesome to have these videos from the team at CA, that allows you to be a bit more open and transparent, and it's a good way to build a strong trust with the people who love these games and want to see them succeed! So you get full marks for that!
Since they are starting to poke into Endtimes lore, getting Thanquol is getting more plausible!
Also it means that Nurggle can easily have many additionnal cool LLs and LHs
Thanquol soon, friends.
This is great! Love the consistency and transparency in communication.
Came here for the 18:35
Glad Rich mentioned the wrongdoings on Mother Ostankya. Amazing and enchanting dev chat, keep it up!
Looking for the "Dogs of War" DLC
I really want some fractions like Estalia, Tilea and Marienburg with some special thinks to do, like mercs or something else.
I hope that the Bretons get also some new content in one of the future updates.
The DLC could be introducing and testing the mechanics that then get reused in a Dogs of War DLC.
Prefer Dogs of War as a RoR mercenary mechanic that all factions can use. Estalia and Tilea as their own separate factions, they seem like two quite different factions.
