- Double ka Meetha is an exotic dessert made with bread, milk, sugar syrup and nuts. Double ka meetha is also known as Shahi Tukra. indian bread sweet

Ingredients
1/2 loaf bread
1 cup cahsew,almonds
3 number cardamom pdr
1 to fry ghee or fresh oil
4 drops lime
500 ml milk
pista,dated,raisins
1 pinch safron color
300 grams sugar
300 ml water
Directions
• cut bread into halves of triangle and let them dry over night , fry in ghee till golden brown
• make sugar syrup flavoured with cardamom and few drops of lime juice and safron color
• make rabdi with milk (slowly boil milk till it is reduced to 1/4 tho og original
• soak bread in sugar syrup for few seconds and remove . put all nuts and dryfruits over the sweetened bread and pour over rabdi
• serve warm

Sanjay, another great recipe. Thank you so much. I have a question though. The bread sucked in lots and lots of ghee. The preparation was tasty, but could clearly feel the abundant ghee that went into it while eating, giving a heavy sensation after eating. Any tip to limit the amount of ghee?

+VahChef +Avanthi Gawala Yes you can use wheat bread but it wont taste the same, wheat bread not is soft. You need soft bread, If you want the best "Double Ka Meeta" then use milk bread (white one) and cut the edges and fry it. I am not challenging our beloved Vah Chef (Sanjay) but I am from Hyderabad and learnt it from my mom.

No, you can't. This recipe's main ingredient is breaf only. No substitute for it.
It's really very tasty recipe, I ate double ka mitha in one muslim marriage.

I am sorry to say the recipe "double ka meetha" the procedure you have followed is not authentic, not hyderabadi style. I am a pure hyderabadi and our family specializes in hyderabadi authentic cuisine. So I request you to show the original recipe without any variation. This is the famous dessert of Hyderabad and the recipe should be real too. I hope you will take my comment and request positively. Cheers.

I heard the reason that people call it"double ka meeta" because we add such a ingredients that are already contain high sugar quantity in them like dates,raisens,kova and even the bread.So this recipe would be done adding 2 times of sugar(i.e sweetness)dats the reason it is specifically mentioned as "double times sweetest desert".Thanks.

Excellent Dish however I'd prefer cooking my bread pieces golden and less brown. My fiance cooks all that i teach him to. My Dad has always cooked at least once a week...slow and stady i guess Men's approach to getting in to the kitchen is changing.
