  • So here is the new Suzuki Bandit 1200 Project bike. The plan is to turbo the motorcycle, it's going to need an engine rebuild and some TIG welding and will be a learning process for Shroom.
    This week I make my first ever merge collector, its certainly been a learning curve!

    Nice work dude! I’ve got a turbo Bandit myself mate,the difference between N/A and turbo is hard to get across...you’re gonna love it.

      Hi Spike, good to hear from a turbo bandit owner. I can’t wait to try it for the first time. Have you done much to your bandit apart from the turbo?

    • @spike8104
      @spike8104 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Engine wise it’s been taken out to 1216 with ‘Busa pistons,manual cam chain tensioner,the top end oil feed conversion and a lock up clutch. It’s running a Garret GT28 turbo,all done by FBM.
      I love it. I can’t wait to put some miles under it now we can move about a bit more. It’s not even run in yet!

    • @Classicmotorbikes

      That’s my plan to go 1216 with Busa pistons and a lock up clutch. Dave is just down the road from me, love the work he does.

    I've really enjoyed watching series 2 of bandit oclock, also just bought a 1200 bandit that needs work, so watching you take one apart ( i've no mechanical experince ) has been brilliant, hope you keep upload dude, keep it up !

    I've been binge watching the first Bandit O'clock series in the past two days and those are nothing compared to the film quality step up you've taken! It's a tedious job but worth it! Keep on going Ian.
    P.S. My first bike was a Bandit 650 so watching the series tickles something inside.

    Just subscribed. Looking forward to this build. I'm a tig welder of 25 years. Just my opinion I could do with less or no music, and more talking through your process but you have to do what is best for you. Its probably much easier to edit and post a video by just laying music on it? Anyway good job so far.

    • @Classicmotorbikes
      @Classicmotorbikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the sub Dave and thank you for the feedback. I often use the music for when I'm not 100% on what I'm doing, but I still want to try and show what I'm doing, as you can probably tell I'm very new to TIG welding. Glad you are enjoying the videos

    Great vid Ian - keep 'em coming. Are you planning to upgrade the oil pump? I seem to recall hearing somewhere that there can be problem maintaining oil pressure with the stock B12 ones with a blower fitted. Good luck mate

    • @Classicmotorbikes
      @Classicmotorbikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Reggiebacci. From the research I’ve done the standard Suzuki oil pump is fine, but the getting the oil from the turbo back to the sump can be problematic. If I do have any problems I do have a couple of different options I can try.

    Great video as usual mate, looking forward to seeing the project progress.
    I was watching you strip the bike with great interest, thinking how will he get out that airbox without removing the engine, but you cut that part out, so how did you do it

    • @Classicmotorbikes
      @Classicmotorbikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Adam, the airbox can be a bit fiddly but to help I remove the rubber boots that connect the airbox to the carbs and makes life a little easier, then I remove it from the left and side of the bike, the hardest bit is getting the prong that bolts the airbox the frame past the frame rail. Hope that makes sense 👍

    • @BorisKarloff66
      @BorisKarloff66 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Classicmotorbikes spotted that hotside flange a mile away. I would have thought though that that turbo would be very laggy on a bike given that it's quite laggy with a 2l engine supplying it with exhaust gases. Still will make lots of power. Good luck with the rest of the build.
