  • In Sashiko Stitching, people recommend to use an interesting-shaped thimble and long needle. In this Sashiko Tutorial video, I will show you how we use the round shape thimble and long sharp needle.
    This is a follow-up video of our first video of how to make Sashiko stitching. Also, this can be a good follow-up / review materials for those who took my Sashiko workshops. For those who are interested in taking my Sashiko workshop, this video can be a good preparation materials to maximize my workshop experience.
    Sorry for my rough English.
    I realize that, when I stitch in my house, my brain shift to Japanese one :)
    You can get the Sashiko Thimble and Needle from this page.

    Thank you for this helpful video. I just made my first sashiko piece last night, the persimmon flower pattern, and became very discouraged in the beginning. But I continued and things got much better. I feel enormous respect and admiration for those who stitched this way to create stronger and warmer fabrics long ago. I think I might need a thimble for my thumb!! And thank you for reminding us not to aim for perfection. 😀 Going to watch more of your videos now. ❤

    Thank you for sharing this! I've been interested in learning about Sashiko and found it surprisingly not easy to find people of Japanese to learn from, but this is important to me. Your channel and website are wonderful and helpful! I am so excited to try this beautiful craft.

    Could you explain what your left hand underneath the fabric is doing while you’re stitching? Thanks.

      Hi.
      I am just holding the fabric underneath. It can be used for measuring the stitch, but it is kind of difficult to explain (and will be long) in the text. I now have the workshop online. consider to take it :)

    how do you do this if this is a very large piece, like a quilt or curtain? It would certain be almost impossible to grab everything from the edge right?

    • @SashikoStory
      @SashikoStory  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Laura,
      There is a technique to do Sashiko on the larger piece.
      As of now, because of the limited capacity, we answer the technical questions only for those who take our workshops. Please consider taking one, in-person or online, to get good support. I appreciate your understanding.
      Best,

      @@SashikoStory I am also a quilter and have two problems with this response: 1. I just checked your website and do not see any current online workshop information. 2. I don't know about Laura, but I am in California. An in person workshop is impossible.
