The thimbles i bought were so small I had to make my own, It is a piece of oyster shell I found on the beach, covered in leather and fits perfectly in my palm.
Actually I learned a lot from this video. Thank you. This is the first video I found that clearly demonstrates the stitch and the first time I saw the thimble in use.
I have learned more from you than any other instructions I have seen. Thank you for sharing your knowledge....now, on to practicing what you have taught!

I had forgotten all about it but my friend reintroduced me to it today. I will be binge watching your channel and starting it again immediately for meditation and relaxation sewing. Thank you again for helping us do this and bringing back so many memories to me.
Got a very clear picture from this of how to make the series of stitches. This is super helpful. I'm planning to make a piece of boro cloth (if that's the right term) from many pieces on a base piece of fabric held together by running stitches. But I really need to learn everything about how to do this kind of stitching. I live in Canada and I don't have local experts to go to. So thanks for this contribution to helping me learn about sashiko stitching and boro cloth (again, if those are the right way to describe what I am trying to do!)

Hey, I know this video is a much older one, but I really appreciate you making these videos in English. Personally my Japanese is rusty having been like a decade since I last really used it and even though I was much farther along than majority of my classmates, my Japanese was really rudimentary at it's peak. I think it's really important to highlight the creators who grew up in the culture and within the art, as it seems to me as I learn more and more about sashimi, that us westerners particularly those of us who never grew up in a Japanese- American (or any kind of family with ties to Japan) household tend to miss really important details in what Sashiko is and isn't, and between our rudimentary Japanese (or lack of it) and our rudimentary understanding of Sashiko, it seems like we've created something totally different of what is actually Sashiko is. So I really appreciate it when people spend their time teaching us foreigners things about their culture. I really appreciate the "勿体無い" aspect of various Japanese practices, and have been getting into western cultural practices that seem to value, or are practical applications in the US. 俺の心にありがとうごさいます！
This is lovely and please keep going. Im the kind of person that if i choose to learn a technique that is from another culture. I want to learn FROM those people! The techniques. The stories, the history etc! My friend had a thrift store and one of her employee's is from ukrayne and does the most beautiful beadwork and i would pay to sit and learn from her even though she barely speaks any english! Just to learn from seeing and doing
This is my next project and I found this to be one of the best videos explaining how to maneuver the fabric and how to use the thimble. Thanks. Looking forward to more videos.. Will you be showing actual projects using the sashiko stitching?

I am showing Sashiko to her, but at the age of 3~4, a needle can be rather a form of weapon than the sewing tool :D. Come back agian and leave the comment if you have any request.

She will never ever able to “ un hear it .” I know I sat at the feet of my mother and my Aunt while on a mat playing with my paper dolls. Interestingly, unlike the other hobbies, the good quality one is not that expensive comparing to the cheap one. It would be very nice of you if you could get the authentic tools, since it also will support the people in Sashiko field in Japan. Thank you!
Thank you very much for the video. I think I understand how it works, but I have one condern. When I use the left thumb and index finger for the length of the stitch. How do I avoid sticking the needle in my finger and thumb all of the time? Thank you!
