    An excellent video- I have subscribed. I am starting my PGCE (hopefully) this September. I'm 50 years old, I have 2 degrees (undergraduate & Masters), I'm juiced up about going into teaching. I've had a ten year break due to ill health, I used to be a civil servant and am seeking a real challenge. The PGCE programme I am going for is a post 14, college and HE teaching course. I think the question I would like to ask is overcoming nerves of teaching to a group of young people. I am very shy and I am looking to face my fears about talking without a written script. If you can respond I'd be very appreciative.

    • @PetitePrimary
      @PetitePrimary  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Titan,
      Thanks for subscribing and watching. I don't want to say I know anything about teaching post 14s, I can only speak from my experiences at school. You will learn lots along the way during your training, however, I would say that building relationships, showing understanding to them as individuals, their lives and troubles (even if it seems trivial to you), can make a huge difference. It will help you gain their respect as a teacher, but also create a deeper understanding for yourself and establish mutual respect. Best of luck!

    Hi, your videos are so helpful. I have an interview next week for primary education with qts and the university is asking me to bring an object, that simulates learning and present it. What would you suggest to take, please?

    • @PetitePrimary
      @PetitePrimary  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congratulations on getting an interview! They won't assess you on the object as such (so you can choose anything) but they more want to see how you use it to stimulate learning, how you make it exciting and interactive, how you link it and promote certain national curriculum objectives and how you justify your choice. It's around the fact anything can be used as a learning tool and is an example of how you can seize spontaneous learning opportunities from mundane things around you. I offer interview support packages if you'd like a call about it and we can try and come up with something together? Feel free to message me @thepetiteprimary on insta for more information if so. Good luck xx

    • @GoldBlackLotus
      @GoldBlackLotus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had one of these but we didn't know the object and we would pick them during the day from a bag. I got a balloon and blagged a science lesson. Some of the other objects I remember was a little globe and a stick (they did like a forest school safety based lesson).

    I have a stammer. During lessons, I don’t stammer or if I do it’s very slightly and doesn’t disrupt the lesson at all. However, I am scared that I might stammer A LOT during my interview, cause it’s at professional interviews where I’ve always stammered most. I am scared of not being able to express myself properly and coming off as somewho’s unable to communicate and therefore teach. I don’t know what to do about it. Can you please help? Thank you. xx

    • @PetitePrimary
      @PetitePrimary  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Clara,
      I'm no expert on this and I don't want to teach you to suck eggs, but a few things just came to mind that you can try to support you for your interview. The first thing would be to prepare different interview questions and try and find phrases/experiences that you could apply to different questions and contexts. That way, if you feel flustered by a question, hopefully you will have a nice bank of phrases you could already used that link nicely or at least give you further thinking time. The other thing I would do is to physically practice answering questions to family/friends or in front of the mirror. We can often say things really well in our heads but the moment we speak we trip over our words or I imagine this is when you stutter? By practicing, it can help you use these phrases or recount the experiences you want to mention or at least help you gain confidence a little. I hope that helps and good luck xx

    • @clarav.7937
      @clarav.7937 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi :) OMG thank you so much for answering:) So, I had the interview today and it went really well. 2 things have helped me: 1) Tell the interviewer beforehand about my stutter; that way he already knew about it, expected it and some of the pressure I felt went away, so therefore spoke more calmly and fluently. 2) Writing that comment in your comment section about it; being able to publicly express my fear and discomfort, and share it with you and an audience, felt kind of liberating. I also watched this video again just before my interview, and made some notes and rehearsed like you mentioned and it really helped. :) You’re a star :) Maybe one day you (I can help you with my experience!) can make a video on how to overcome fear of stuttering before and interview, or just fear of public speaking in general. As teachers, it might be important for a lot of people. I don’t know! Anyways! THANK YOU 🙏 ❤️ Sending you love!

    This vedio was so helpful. Do you need to be PG degree to apply for PGCE ? Or is a bachelor's enough? I'm sorry if Im asking a stupid question but I am a bit confused.

    • @PetitePrimary
      @PetitePrimary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To go into teaching, you either need to have done an undergraduate degree that awards QTS (that's the status that says you are a teacher), or after your undergraduate degree, you need to do a qualification after. A lot of people do a PGCE with QTS although there are some courses that just award QTS with no PGCE. It costs the same but there are no assignments. Hope that helps
