I’ve worked for US Bank in the past and can tell you I’ve never seen them transfer available credit on one card to another. This has always been a hard no, and looks like it still stands that way. I left working there about 4 years ago now. I worked there about 7.5 years.
hmm would it possible to request USbank to lower ur credit limit on a pre-existing card(s) b4 applying for a new card? so that way their risk is lowered in advanced (and in theory ur below their max credit amt).
This is why I don't mess with U.S. Bank yet lol. They're way too strict in my opinion. I'm sorry to hear about the denial but there will be many more better cards to come!

Funny datapoint, I got approved for the u.s. bank altitude reserve and triple cash on the same day, each with a 15K credit limit. Since I haven't used the triple cash hardly at all after the bonus, my credit limit was changed from 15K to $500 I just noticed.
US Bank and Barclay require velocity on their cards. I mean like before I apply to either, I make sure I am using their cards almost ever day for at least one FULL billing cycle/ 40 days. I do this while keeping an eye on the when the bonus is expiring.
I’ve never had any prior relationship with US Bank, but I’ve opened 2 new credit cards in The last 5 months (Total 6 in last 2 years) I just applied for the connect and got approved for 2k Even though the limit is low I’m excited to have it especially because I know US Bank is picky about not having any type of other products besides their credit cards
Ouch I feel you Jeff the “decline” letter is always painful for me better luck next time you should do the unboxing for the Wells Fargo Choice card we would like to see that
US Bank gave me $20,000 on my cash plus, definitely didn't need that for card. I'm just going to pay bills with. That's probably screwed me from getting the reserve now
I think my response would’ve just been, “perfect, then let’s cancel all my accounts with you and end our relationship”. US Bank has annoyed me multiple times in the past even rejecting I think a checking account application lol. Annoying bank for sure
This is why I only have one card with U.S. Bank, the Cash+. Once I get the cards that I want through other issuers, maybe I will get another card through US Bank. I kind of have my eye on the new Shoppers Rewards card and the Altitude Reserve, but I can’t justify the annual fees at this time so it kind of works out for me. If I do get another card through them, I may have to lower my credit limit on my Cash+ card because it is rather high.
I did not apply for a Barclays Wyndham card because of their 12 month rule. Instead I got the new Wells Fargo Choice Privileges Select MC. Groceries, gas, home improvement... nice categories.
If I recall, they really prefer a minimal amount of inquiries, like max 2. I waited and waited and applied when I got within their limits. Got approved for my AR several months ago. Also may help to open another account, like a checking account with them, to develop a relationship, which is something else I heard of and also did.
Bummer, but with a high inquiry account, it doesn't surprise me ✌️ At least you know what to improve for the next time you decide to go for a U.S. Bank card.
Stay strong brother. I need to do the same and stop watching youtube videos. Everytime I watch youtubers talking about the new welcome bonuses, I just want to apply them all! Hence 7/24. Ugh!
Chase at one point said Inhad maximum available credit...so I suggested what you did...they said no. I said I don't understand if I have maximum available credit wouldn't that be it...then they explained 5.24 so US Bank could be something like that. You know more to it
Hey Mark, Do you know one way you can actually get approved but takes time and does not have a signup bonus. Trust me when I say this...wink. You can apply for secured card and do a product change upon graduation. US Bank is one of those issuers that is extremely lenient on secured cards compared to their unsecured ones and it is a powerful backdoor way to get a card by US bank even if you have a long credit history and high 700s account. The secured card is meant to for people building credit or recovering credit, but for people with excellent credit, this strategy is a powerful backdoor.

Some of these banks are annoying to deal with. I got denied a citi card last week basically because I had too low of balances or zero balances on too many credit cards. Well no shit, I made sure they were paid off to get a points boost before applying for the card lol. So basically I have "too much" credit in general even though not with Citi. That's ok though, I got approved for three other cards on my list that same day woot woot!
Ahhh Sorry this happened to you Mark. It sucks. Last week, I got denied C1 VX. It was first time being denied since I started my credit card journey about 4 years ago. I knew at some point it will happen but man, it was a bummer. Especially with C1, with a lot of data points out there with strong credit scores getting denied. But still. I'm still sad about it. But I feel better slightly that knowing even someone like you sometimes get denied who knows these credit card rules much better than I do. Thanks for this honest video. I have had two rejections this year….Chase Ink due to 5/24 and the Wyndham Earner Business recon line said because it was only a month after two other Barclays cards…..then applied for Amex Gold and got approved as well as the Bilt card same day so I don’t feel so bad 😂
I may have been able to product change my Altitude Reserve to the Altitude Connect. But I have no interest in doing that. Reasons = (a) no signup bonus and (b) I value the Altitude Reserve a lot more.
Thank you for sharing this with us. I got denied today for the first time because I had too many recent cards opened. I followed all of the protocols for reconsideration etc and no luck. I was pissed because a Chase rep said that I was targeted for the card offer and then after a hard inquiry I was denied. I complained to a supervisor who said she would look into it. Not holding my breath. However I should have known better because I have opened 4 business cards and 5 personal cards since December 2022. Keep up the great work! Thanks again!
Definitely frustrating. Remember that being targeted for an offer doesn't mean you'll be approved (also doesn't necessarily mean your approval chances are higher than typical).
Wow! The G.O.A.T. has been rejected! I guess you're human after all! Btw Happy 5/24 Day (May 24) Mark! Also if you had been approved for this card I was considering asking you if you were going to get the business version of this card but I guess since you've been denied for the personal version there's no reason to apply for the business version.
I definitely don't have a 100% approval rate 😂🤙 Happy 5/24 right back at ya! I was actually considering the biz version prior to applying for the personal version...and now I'm considering it again as a revenge application.
I have the U.S Bank Altitude Go card. I got it almost 2 months ago. It’s a small limit of $500. I have put serious spending on the card and have already reached the $1,000 spend reward bonus in 90 days . It took me last than a month to reach that goal. I would like a bigger credit line. When should I apply for a credit line increase???
Sounds like you can request a credit-line increase whenever you like! I personally like to wait ~ 6+ months. That said, be sure to ask if a hard pull will be performed. If yes, then you'll have to decide whether it's worth moving forward or simply applying for 2nd U.S. Bank card w/ a welcome offer.
I applied yesterday but didn’t get an answer only we’ll send you a letter with the results…. Is that a No? They pulled from transunion and my credit good.
Because I either still... - Value the rewards - Value the benefits - Value the hands-on experience with the card products & their portals to better answer people's questions & create educational videos. curious what your total credit to income is. I am about 60% line to income including elan. remove elan about 40% and still get approved. They can see my elan cards on recon.
I haven't calculated that. I'm also not sure if banks look at that metric across against only the credit they've given you, or against total credit from all issuers, or both.
You getting the US Bank Triple Cash under your social security number has nothing to do with Sole proprietorship. You got it under your social security number because you didn't file for a free EIN online. I'm a Sole proprietorship and I got my US Bank Triple Cash under my EIN. So you shouldn't equate SSN with Sole proprietorship. Get that connection unlinked in your head. They are two separate, unrelated things. That's like saying you drove you car today because you had on green socks.
Good point, I wasn't clear. In my head I wanted to say that the credit line was associated w/ me as an individual, so perhaps it was included into the count of how much credit I have w/ U.S. Bank.
I hate this process. I've never been denied for a credit card until I started applying for points rewards cards. My credit score on all 3 bureaus is over 800. I have zero debt. I have substantial net worth. And yet I still get denied. So I started applying for business cards, I got the chase business ink. No ding on my credit score.
Damn, that was a hard ass rep. You should always hang up and call again for a dude. The guys are easier to convince in my experience, but there are mostly women working those phone calls
I apply for the SavorOne card got denied, call recon still rejected :( So, my next target is US Bank Reserve card, this will be in 4th quarter of this year.... currently building up a reserve with them to help with the odds of getting the card. Sometimes it is a tough game to play so now until the 4th quarter there will be no applying for "any kind" of credits. Inquiries suck.
@@MarkReese I think banks are not lending like before, probably need to show real meat, meaning large amount of cash park at their banks from saving to cd to investment products.
There are tons of data points with conflicting information.. hard to tell what exactly they are looking for. Seemed like they denied Jeff for overall credit issued
Yes well , USBank will not say that denial is by 2/12 rule like Chase will not say 5/24. But being that you have a prior relationship with USBank I would not be able to pinpoint the reason apart from the letter that you received.
Ya USbk is 1 tough cookie to crack. I’ve tried & denied. I can’t even open a deposit acct with them. I’ve heard you have to garden for a full year with Zero inquiries & no new accts & have a utilization below 5%.
Don't feel too bad I recently got rejected by Chase. The number of recently opened accounts to my credit report was my downfall. They also said I had Limited installment loans. I don't have any house or car Payments. And to rub it in my face they said my credit score. Was 894? Thank you for the candid video
Wow you paid all your accounts in full 😢 and got denied if it was me I would have said uhh remember my name it will be the last time closed all of my us bank accounts now😅
11:09 🤣🤣🤣. I already knew that was going to be on there by just reading the title of this video. This is why their should be a section on the application titled “check yes or no if your a super awesome TH-cam content creator who’s amazing at managing credit cards and will promote our credit card products on your channel?”
Installment loans in almost all cases involve interest. Agree with you on the silliness (and I would say a racket). Anyone who knows you knows that your accounts would have a recent inquires would be a good amount. What are you on active cards now? 51, 52, 53?
What about interest free planned payments such as w/ Apple, Samsung or Amazon if pay over time? I assume the carried balance is used against you. I try to keep a 3% closing date balance but even Apple w/ $20K, 3% is barely $600.
Per my understanding, the credit bureaus are collecting data for BNPL loans, but that data isn't yet factored into credit scores. Check out this article by BankRate: www.bankrate.com/finance/credit-cards/buy-now-pay-later-credit-score/
It's my understanding that: - You can move points from the Altitude Go to the Altitude Connect (and vice versa). - You can move points from the Altitude Reserve to the Altitude Go and/or Altitude Connect. - You cannot move points from the Altitude Go or Altitude Connect to the Altitude Reserve (i.e. you cannot get the 1.5¢ per point value from the other 2 cards).
While applying do they do soft pull or hard pull of credit score? I didn't see an option for pre-approval process? And whats the ideal credit score they look for like - 750+ ? mine is just 720 :-(
@@MarkReese bruh you're so deep in the game, you don't even know where you are or how you got there. I've been there before. What they don't tell you is you can leave at any time.

Banks are more restictive on credit card approvals because the economy is slowing and credit card defaults have incresed since March 2023.

I have substantial net worth. And yet I still get denied. So I started applying for business cards, I got the chase business ink. No ding on my credit score.
There are definitely a lot of rules in this game 😂 Congrats on the Chase Ink approval!
Damn, that was a hard ass rep. You should always hang up and call again for a dude. The guys are easier to convince in my experience, but there are mostly women working those phone calls
Haha I just decided to move on, mainly because I've never heard of U.S. Bank allowing credit line reallocations to open new accounts.
All these banks are getting strict
😬

My credit score is 830 out of 850, and my application just got denied lol I would love to hear an explanation from US Bank! Great video btw👍🏻
Ah that's frustrating 😬
in new york they pull experian
In all cities?
I apply for the SavorOne card got denied, call recon still rejected :( So, my next target is US Bank Reserve card, this will be in 4th quarter of this year.... currently building up a reserve with them to help with the odds of getting the card. Sometimes it is a tough game to play so now until the 4th quarter there will be no applying for "any kind" of credits. Inquiries suck.
Good luck on the application!
@@MarkReese I think banks are not lending like before, probably need to show real meat, meaning large amount of cash park at their banks from saving to cd to investment products.
US bank is surprisingly fickle.
😬
USBank is known for the 2/12 rule.
There are tons of data points with conflicting information.. hard to tell what exactly they are looking for. Seemed like they denied Jeff for overall credit issued
@@911eVoX could be.
I haven't seen enough data to support that. That also wasn't the reason for my denial.
Yes well , USBank will not say that denial is by 2/12 rule like Chase will not say 5/24. But being that you have a prior relationship with USBank I would not be able to pinpoint the reason apart from the letter that you received.
Uhm, I'm not sure about that,i opened 5 cards in 5 months, and then opened the altitude go on the 6th month and the altitude reserve on the 7th month
My jaw dropped when i read the title, i was like whattttt?? That’s crazy
😬
Ya USbk is 1 tough cookie to crack. I’ve tried & denied. I can’t even open a deposit acct with them. I’ve heard you have to garden for a full year with Zero inquiries & no new accts & have a utilization below 5%.
I can't substantiate that as I've gotten approvals for U.S. Bank cards with inquiries & new accounts showing within a 12-month period✌
Don't feel too bad I recently got rejected by Chase. The number of recently opened accounts to my credit report was my downfall. They also said I had Limited installment loans. I don't have any house or car Payments. And to rub it in my face they said my credit score. Was 894? Thank you for the candid video
Rejections are part of the game 😄
Wow you paid all your accounts in full 😢 and got denied if it was me I would have said uhh remember my name it will be the last time closed all of my us bank accounts now😅
😂👍
Hey Jeff, thnx for that video, would it work if you'd cancel one of your current cards to get approved of the new card?
Potentially, but there's not a guarantee of that. I didn't want to cancel a card & lose that credit line and then also get denied for a new card.
They are fans of your channel obviously.....
😬
11:09 🤣🤣🤣. I already knew that was going to be on there by just reading the title of this video. This is why their should be a section on the application titled “check yes or no if your a super awesome TH-cam content creator who’s amazing at managing credit cards and will promote our credit card products on your channel?”
Hahaha indeed! 😂
Fuco 9 score 🤢
😬
Installment loans in almost all cases involve interest. Agree with you on the silliness (and I would say a racket).
Anyone who knows you knows that your accounts would have a recent inquires would be a good amount. What are you on active cards now? 51, 52, 53?
I haven’t counted lately, but somewhere in the low 50s 👍
I don’t get denied by Women or Banks!
😎💯
Try as I may, and try as I might, US Bank denies me I'll show them some fight!
😂👊
What about interest free planned payments such as w/ Apple, Samsung or Amazon if pay over time? I assume the carried balance is used against you. I try to keep a 3% closing date balance but even Apple w/ $20K, 3% is barely $600.
Financing purchases with credit cards will affect your utilization.
Very instructive with regards to US Bank🤔👍🏾
💯👍
They did you a favor. Dumpster Fire of a Bank.
😂
Yep
🤙
Do those loans for 4-5 month payments with 0% interest for items in online shopping carts count as a loan for the credit score?
Per my understanding, the credit bureaus are collecting data for BNPL loans, but that data isn't yet factored into credit scores. Check out this article by BankRate: www.bankrate.com/finance/credit-cards/buy-now-pay-later-credit-score/
Us bank allow merge point of reserve ultimate and other credit card like altitude connect card?
It's my understanding that:
- You can move points from the Altitude Go to the Altitude Connect (and vice versa).
- You can move points from the Altitude Reserve to the Altitude Go and/or Altitude Connect.
- You cannot move points from the Altitude Go or Altitude Connect to the Altitude Reserve (i.e. you cannot get the 1.5¢ per point value from the other 2 cards).
You already have the two US Bank cards I want (Reserve/Cash+)so I’m kinda glad they denied you because now your just getting greedy🤣🤣🤣.
😂👊
While applying do they do soft pull or hard pull of credit score? I didn't see an option for pre-approval process? And whats the ideal credit score they look for like - 750+ ? mine is just 720 :-(
1. The application will be a hard pull.
2. No pre-approval process that I'm aware of.
3. Credit score requirements are not published.
Nooo😮😮😮
Boycott US Bank! 😂😂
Or...try again.
They're monitoring your call under the guise of quality assurance!
😬
👍🏻
👍
You should include the projected income of your future wife.

Marquis won this time 😁
Maybe it’s a sign. Time for you to leave the game.
Shots fired 😮
Leave the game, NO! Leave US Bank, maybe!
What if...I never started the game? And none of this actually happened? 😶
@@MarkReese bruh you're so deep in the game, you don't even know where you are or how you got there.
I've been there before. What they don't tell you is you can leave at any time.

Good video like details on other cards than chase & Amex those cards are to easy to get so I stroll pass those videos
Glad you found value in this one 💯
