I really appreciate your reviews. You’re very good at pointing out how a slow swinging, low ball hitter like myself can benefit from an iron like this by working with a fitter and tweaking lofts. I’m going for an iron fitting in a few weeks and these clubs along with Titleist T350 are on my list. I’ve followed your channel for quite awhile and the information you present is really useful! Thank you.
Great review Jay, i gamed these irons for a while but just found the spin and launch to be too low. My 6 iron swing speed is around 87mph and I just really struggled to hold greens. I did switch to a higher spin ball as well which helped a bit but I was hoping for more but that also ended up negatively affecting my driver.
Going from Titleist to Miura to these, I am genuinely surprised and impressed with the feel. I just bought a set after just got a set of Miura IC 602 and been gaming cb 301 and the Cobra King tec are surprisingly close. And yes, it’s long!
Excellent clubs and review. I got fitted for them, but longer than standard so I just ignore the numbers on the bottom of the club and play them an an ‘extra’ club equivalent of my old set. I.e. the 5 iron is 21 degree loft so I treat it like it’s a driving iron 😂 PW is my old 9 iron etc. One thing I haven’t done is to 5 wedges to get to my 58. Just about managed to retain 4 wedges by slotting a 48 between the PW (42) and my 54.
Wow, what a great review! You might want to start wearing a Cobra hat!! Looking forward to trying the complete line and especially this Iron at the top of the bag. I’m still a good player at 70 amd I’ve always been a good iron player. Problem is on the longer pat 3’s we play at 175 -190.
Nope, it's important to me personally and morally that I stay independent and unbiased. Of course I have my own personal preferences for what I like to play etc but that in no way whatsoever effects my opinions etc on my content 👍 I always feel its important to give the viewer the truth, possibly not the best financial decision I've ever made not to be compensated for the work doing the reviews etc, but much more believable and honest 👍
Thanks for the great review! If someone were a relatively fast swinger (~90MPH average 7 iron club head speed), but still could use some forgiveness for inconsistent strikes, and wanted to try the Forged Tec X, how much would you recommend weakening the lofts? In consideration of not just distance / gapping, but also the effect on sole / bounce? Thanks!
You'd still be fine at maximum amount of retro adjustment which I believe is 2 degrees or half a club. I'd personally look at a specific high launch option that has max help but with increased loft at say 31 degrees for a 7 iron will mean at your faster speed your distance and distance gaps won't be too much. I'd just stay clear of any High Launch options that use specifically lighter heads and as won't need that in your faster swing setup 👍
Great reviews Jay as always. I have p790 with 7 iron going about 150 carry but sometimes don’t get the height I need and they are not always as forgiving as I’d like. Would this iron be a better fit to test or is there something else worth testing? n
Hi Jay, another great review. These look ideal for me, (18hcp). I swing a 7 iron approx 84 mph and i think i'd want to weaken them by a couple of degrees, does that seem sensible (to avoid a dozen wedges), i think i have enough speed? Also if i was +1 inch, midsize grip, in general would you advise changing static lie of the club? I'm asking as i trust you and the last iron fitting i went to was horrible!
Hi Adrian, really good questions there and thank you for the detail as it enables me to answer better. I would possibly look at retro spec'ing the lofts a touch at 84 mph, maybe 1 or 2 degrees. It'll give more peak height and control. Looking at the shaft length, 1 inch long is quite a lot and without me measuring your length requirements dynamically rather than the old school static way, I'd be guessing about the length. Although 1 inch is quite a lot of extra length. When it comes to the lie angle, this definitely needs to be measure properly and not via a lie board or radar launch monitor. It's a good head measuring foresight system for accurate lie measurements. Good lie angles can make a massive difference to your normal shots and also the misses.... Probably best catch me on a live stream and I can elaborate further 👍
I was purposely swinging at a slower speed to represent the golfer that doesn't swing at 92mph with a 7 iron. These are targeted towards the golfer that wants distance and only swing around 80mph 👍 Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍
It wouldn't compare Dave, I wouldn't be able to hit it that high as a normal. Unfortunately CG physics wine here. My blade just doesn't have the launch capability against this type of iron 👍
Wowsers, err yeah I wouldn't go for these either, players cavity or high launch irons maybe the only option should you need the forgiveness help. Happy to help if you have your club and ball dynamics from say a GCQuad to look over 👍🏻
@@AskGolfNutI'll get my measurements done with the gcquad and send them to you. No one has offered to help with all the questions I've asked. Instant sub and thank you!!
@brotherbread6549 you're very welcome, my aim has always been with my TH-cam channel to be conducted in a way to help everyday golfers 👍🏻 thanks for the comment and for watching 👍🏻

I'll stick with my Mizuno one 😊 but yes you are right. Cobra have really impressed me with their iron line up for this year. 👍
@@AskGolfNut Are you in any way compensated/sponsored by Cobra or any golf manufacturer?

I’m waiting for the new MP line. I still play the 69’s and the TC 201.
But, the new Cobras look great.
Jay, would you say the forgiveness level of this iron is similar to the JPX923 Hot Metal Pro?
I'm still playing AP2s from 2008 and my 5 iron is 27 degrees. In a few years the loft on a 7 iron is probably going to be 15 degrees 😂
Those are amazing clubs. I'm still rocking my R9s from 2009 lol.
Forged tech are great irons. However, the gapping is too big in the short irons and wedges for me to consider a full set.
I am hitting the STEALTH irons....your thoughts on them vs these Cobra Forged Tec X...what differences would i notice ? really debating on the Cobras
YES! Great review!

Du kannst mal einen anderen Schaft testen. Ein niedriger Kickpoint lässt Ball höher steigen.

Any thoughts on why your club speed was down so much with these irons. Possibly heavier head weights?

It wouldn't compare Dave, I wouldn't be able to hit it that high as a normal. Unfortunately CG physics wine here. My blade just doesn't have the launch capability against this type of iron 👍
How do these shape up against the i525 in your opinion Jay? Looking to upgrade irons later this year. Thanks
May have to add that to the list for a comparison 👍
I have a 98mph 7iron, these might be too hot for me? Im still trying to figure out the best ball flight for me to help with scoring

On order, the most forgiving iron’s I’ve ever tried, great feel too 🏌🏻♂️
