I was at this concert It was his 75th birthday in Meadowlands Arena New Jersey. He was sick and not feeling well. But , the professional that he is, the show had to go on.
Actually there are two different sets of lyrics. She sings the originals and he sings the ones he modified. It got confusing for both of them deciding mid-song which lyrics to use.
Class act both. His show, her song and though he gives Liza her due she hands it back with her heart and soul; singing under him and in his key, letting Frank get the last note.
I was lucky enough to win first row tickets to this show when they played in Kansas City. Close enough to smell the Jack Daniels in his drink off the corner of the stage. Both were terrific … but Liza blew me away. A couple of times she needed to carry the lyrics for the both of them. She did it with style and grace AND enormous talent. Been a fan of their music and the genre since that day!
@Monika Osborn, did he forget lyrics in the show you went to? I saw the interview with his daughter where she talks about him forgetting lyrics (and it shows in this video as well). He never wanted to stop. It's sad to see them disintegrating before our eyes.
@@jant7881 Mr Sinatra always had enough "moxie" to make it through every show I ever saw him sing in. Liza now had Lady gaga help her at the last years awards, its a circle, Mr Sinatra- best of the best!
Bingo! I saw both in concert in the early 90's. It was towards the end for Frank, as he was at the point where he was forgetting lyrics mid-song and rambling a bit when he talked. But no one cared. It was FRANK SINATRA! As for Liza, she was simply amazing. Today's entertainers can't hold a candle to either of them.
I'm 71 and they give me chills hearing them sing together. My folks saw him dam I wish had thx Mr Sinatra for giving us your wonderful talent u too Ms Finally Liza with a,Z
I saw them both. I gave Frank flowers from my garden when he appeared at the Chicago Stadium. I am 67 now. Beautiful memories. THAT was talent AND class. RIP Mr. Sinatra.💜
So insane to think that this wasn't a song made for him, but for her. Liza made it her own when she sang it for the movie in 1977, but definitely Frank knew when he had to bite on a great tune. She may have sung it first (and greatly), but Frankie knew it was a classic even more than its writers and its first singer. This song belongs to both of them.
The song was made for Lisa and Sinatra tok it for him ! And Lisa respects Sinatra because she didn't give her best TN not disrespect a old man ! This the truth 💯
Wow! This was the very first time that I've ever seen such a wonderful duet! It was awesome and I was truly crying all of it! Thank you so much for sharing to all of us. May God bless you.
A wonderful clip! 2 of the best. So much happiness transmitted here, so opposite the morbid place our world is in now. Frank Sinatra was known for lecturing his peers if their attitudes got nasty. His lecture to Springsteen was prime example, telling him to stop complaining about show biz and his fans, that he might be washing dishes in in Hoboken NJ was the gist. What would he have told Trump & the rest of us right now? Thanks for putting this up.
It’s from Liza’s film New York New York with Robert Di Nero. Liza is the best part of the movie; destined for the screen just like her mother. Heartwarming how he sang with both of them and loved them both dearly
From WIKI........."Theme from New York, New York" (or "New York, New York") is the theme song from the Martin Scorsese film New York, New York (1977), composed by John Kander, with lyrics by Fred Ebb. It was written for and performed in the film by Liza Minnelli.
I was lucky enough to see Liza here at the regent theatre in Sydney when I was 13 oh 48 yrs ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday . My dad who is gone now went to see frank no idea what yr but when he was in Australia . Anyway love it love them both
No fancy light shows, no glitter and spandex dancers , no sideshow fluff . Just a microphone and an orchestra. That's old school and very very few today can pull that off
I saw Liza on stage three times. Once with Frank when she replaced an ill Dean Martin at Radio City. Sammy Davis gave a wonderful performance that night. I had not planned to go the concert; just strolling past the theater, asked if there was a single ticket and then witnessed one of the best concerts I ever attended.
Não dá pra não sentir a força, a energia contagiante e toda a química entre dois dos maiores ícones da música. Fantástica apresentação? Liza Minnelli estava fenomenal. 👏🏻👏🏻🍸🍾 🇧🇷
It may be Frank's key, but he and Liza Minnelli totally dominated it. Womanizer or not he had one hell of a voice that could capture the crown for hours and hours can it get any better? just think frank sang with judy the relationship is family
I didn't realize he sung with her mom till a couple days ago. I found a TH-cam posting of him and Judy along with Dean Martin. Then I started to see why she called him uncle Frank. Very moving indeed. Judy and him was close friends. I am of the age group I really remember Judy from wizard of oz. Thanks to TH-cam I getting to know all the older singers in there hay day, loving it.
Liza's version of "New York, New York" is almost as great as Sinatra's famous version! Nice gesture by Sinatra to ask Liza to stay up on stage with him to sing that great song!
@@catarinaneto5579 On the contrary! I DO know that the song "New York, New York" was written for Liza Minnelli and not for Frank Sinatra!
