Since around halfway through the original franchise nuzlocke series, I always had the thought in the back of my mind saying "You know what would be absolutely unhinged and hilarious? If we did this again with only shiny Pokemon." and the intrusive thoughts won. So here we are, Shiny Only Season 2 baby!

Rules of the challenge:
1. All encounters must be shiny Pokemon (HM users may not be shiny but are not allowed to be used for attacking in battle)
2. Fainting = Death
3. Can only catch one Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
4. Cannot use a species of Pokemon more than once in the franchise (regional variants are considered separate)
5. No items in battle (held items okay)
6. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
7. Play on "Set" battle mode

In this game it wouldn't matter, actually. The DVs being tied to shiny.
It'd be really cool if at the end of this series he transferred all the shinies to one game, so we can see everyone who made it out alive
Sadly that is not possible due to you can't trade Gen 1 and 2 Pokemon to Gen 3 onward.

@@FunkyGaming44 If ChaoticMeatball is using the Virtual Console versions of the Gen 1 and Gen 2 games, then it's possible (at least until the necessary stuff to transfer Pokémon between generations and games, like Pokémon Bank and PokéTransfer, shut down for good within the next few months).
I don't know if ChaoticMeatball *is* using the Virtual Consoles of Gen 1 and 2 or not. I'm just saying it's (currently for the time being) possible to transfer Gen 1 and 2 Pokémon to future games.

I saw the title and wondered if this was accidentally uploaded a couple hours early. Because it's such a crazy idea to do this for the whole series that I thought this was supposed to be an April Fools joke.
I really like the idea of these nuzlockes, but I'm always conflicted seeing shiny nuzlockes because I feel like it shifts the majority of the time of the run to be resets instead of having fun playing the game. I hope you still enjoy making these after the first season, and with your new shiny stipulation!
it’ll probably be much less painful after gen 1, being able to hunt via wild encounters instead of forced to soft reset will help!
For those that don't know, the reason why Yellow's Rival used a Vaporeon instead of Jolteon or Flareon is due to losing the Rival fight at the Lab. Win the Lab fight but lose (or skip) the early Route 22 fight and you get Flareon, Win both fights, and Rival goes with Jolteon.
Honestly by the end of your last challenge you were so bitter and hateful towards the games and your fans, I cant imagine why you would want to do this again

30:18 just a random tip that's helped me in my fitness journey is to watch what you drink big time. You don't realize how many calories are in drinks even if it's gatorade or tea. If you drink 3 gatorades in a day that's roughly 450 calories and it's even worse with higher sugar drinks.
Tea is effectively calorie free unless you get sweet tea or add sugar to it. If you drink straight black/green tea without addition it's fine.
Good tea doesn't need it y'all.

Fun fact about Gyarados in Gen 1. In Red and Blue, Hydro Pump is a starting move for it. Which is why you saw it on your rival's Level 22 Gyarados. It got changed in Yellow though.
It's not supposed to be on the rival's Gyarados until the pre-elite 4 battle, going to assume this mod changes some movesets.

I am suprised you are doing this. During the first season, starting early, you started complaining more frequently as the series progressed how stupid the games are and how Game Freak suck and burnout. One episode you harped on the fans watching the videos about how they only watch your pokemon vids and not anything else of yours.
I enjoy your videos, but if those same types of rants are in this series, I will cut it short and stop watching them all together for now on. If this goes well though, I may watch your other vids because I do like them, and your voice also reminds me of a friend I use to know.
Well, the games do get extremely dumb from Gen 6 onward. So he's not wrong.

I was just saying he should tone it down a bit. We all know they got basic and have their glitches as the series went on.
I hunted all three gen one starters without the rare candy glitch or modifications, each took around a month of hunting. And just finished hunting a farfetch’d in leafgreen which took a full year, gen one Farfetch’d hunt would have been faster. Not a flex, just sad but kool.

You mentioned Snorlax in XY, and I wanna point out that you *miiiight* wanna do some research on static encounters from Gen 6+, cause the Shiny locks are... Weird.
Snorlax in XY, a static Frillish in Alola, and Team Rainbow Rocket Electrodes are all Shiny locked, so just keep a heads-up.
While I'm glad we're getting another season of this, if it's making you suffer this much, I'd rather you not do it.
Find another gimmick or something to spice up a franchiselock.

I think it'd be fun to stream it. But personally it's hard to tune in for a lot of people. So as long as a video eventually is made showing the summary of it in this format I think you'll make everyone including yourself happy.
it's a neat idea, i guess, but I don't know, man. to me, shiny Pokémon are the least interesting part of the games. all shiny lockes do is add hours upon hours of tedium. the only actual challenge is the franchise locke rules. i was expecting something else for the second season of the franchise locke. I'm not going to watch past the first few seconds. unless I'm told that this is just his April fool's joke video, I'll see you in the next franchise locke series.

welcome to shiny hunting my friend. Some hunts go well under odds, others go to 2, 3, 4, 5, even 10 times over odds for one shiny. Its literally a lottery. maybe for future games consider modding the game to raise shiny odds if time constraints are that big a deal
Can you disqualify entire Pokemon families for this franchiselocke please? So if you use Slowbro, you can't use Slowking, Galarian Slowbro, or Galarian Slowking. And same goes for the Eevelutions - you can't use the Collosseum Umbreon, Collosseum Espeon, XD Eevee OR the Let's Go Eevee.

No. Charizard is weak to Ice in gen 1 because Flying is weak to Ice. Fire alone not resisting wouldn't make it weak to Ice. However the combination of Fire/Flying in later gens makes it neutral against Ice.

It's not fun. I used to play it years ago when they did a collab with Markiplier. Became a chore to just do the daily tasks and then it became pay to win in order to level up.

Would you be able to have multiple instances of the emulator running when starter hunting in future games to speed up that hunt. I understand that you can't do this for anything after the starter, but i don't see any issues doing it for the starter.
