    Thank you so much Greg. I really appreciate this. When I bought my house 20 years ago whomever had put the furnace in really messed up the beams of the floor and it sags about (Believe It or Not) 3 to 4in in the middle.
    Some years back I bought two of those metal post. I never use them I wasn't confident what to do. Still learning it's good to learn

    Thank you for your informative videos.
    I have been researching ways to strengthen my garage roof and have yet to see an example roof that the 2x6 rafters come together at the ridge and there is no ridge beam or any connection from peaks of rafters to others which are 2' apart. All rafters have 2x4 center posts connected to bottom of the rafters ridge to support the 2x4 rafter ties at the base (top of wall).
    What would you recommend? I'm specifically concerned about added weight on the roof as we like to hang out on top to look at the views.
    Thanks for any advice!!

    Thanks for the videos! I can't seem to find one but by any chance do you have a basment with open wood trusses with a split mid way with support posts? I realize that is specific but something in the ballpark would be great. This would be a new build - I'd hire a real architect but I'm looking for a starting point.

    I need some help. I need to add support to the second floor main beam running through an old one built in 1890. The house also has a basement so any support I add to the second floor floor beam would either have to rest on the floor of the first floor or travel all the way to the basement. Right now I’m concerned if I add beams on the first floor traveling from the floor to the ceiling to support the second floor beam, I’ll put too much stress on the first floor floor joists and main beam that runs in the ceiling of the basement. You mentioned in this video that you’ll do another one that shows how to put supports in with a wood floor instead of a concrete floor? I haven’t figured out the best way to fix my problem. So I have a concrete floor in my basement a wood floor on the first floor and a wood floor on the second floor. The second floor floor needs more additional support because the beam holding up all the joists of the interior of the house and needs additional supports traveling all the way to the Bassment, I believe.

    I didn't see where you posted the video on doing this over a wood framed floor, did you ever produce one?

    Hey greg, I was wondering if I could email you to see if you have any information regarding the framing details about 20th century colonial style homes. I have a few pictures I want to share with you so you can answer my question easily based on your knowledge. I only want to understand how the floor joists were laid out and why they were laid out that way. I look forward to hearing from you!

    How deep do you typically dig footers for basement adjustable posts?

    • @gregvancom
      @gregvancom  ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to cut concrete floor if you have one and then grab a pick, shovel or mechanical digging equipment that can be brought into the basement. Let me know if this did not answer your question.
