Great question, originally I would have said it's a draw both groups owned it. But after just listening one after the other I have to admit the original you can feel it to your core. But H-Town one of my favorite groups is a very close second ❤
One more vote for The Persuaders version. Why? The Persuaders band are more organic (made with real instruments). The tones express sorrowful guilt and pain. It's dark and bitter, like brown Listerine. It's a perfect expression of having the blues. H-Town's version does not capture that pain. About as artificial as dollar store candy that only come in one flavor no matter the color.

I’d choose the Persuaders. The soundtrack version is decent, but I’m just bias towards the older eras.
