I saw those remarks. Was she misremembering? Was another ending filmed and is that what she was referring to? Did the movie have different endings for different markets? (The movie had different titles.)

I realize it is ambiguous, but thirty years later, in 2020 Cristina Marsillach made a short TH-cam promo for a Sephardic film festival in Buenos Aires in which she confirms that she is waving goodbye to David and they will never see each other again. @@mauipeterb3912 She also said the character made the decision "with no tears and with a smile of confidence and affection." There were tears but not really a smile. I doubt she'll address the inconsistency since she's largely retired, and maybe Hanks will address it if he writes a book.
In this scene, David and Sarah meet at Peter and Victoria's wedding, and stay for the reception. Sarah reveals that she is clairvoyant when she observes that he doesn't usually drink like he is drinking champagne now. They go for a walk and David wants to pursue a relationship, but Sarah insists it is not possible. When she doesn't even want him to take her home in a cab, there is nothing to do but say goodbye. But at the very end Sarah kisses him.
