I agree with all of it EXCEPT the Ryan bits. Ryan bullied Jim when he was in power. And his apology was half-hearted, using the court-ordered community service. Ryan got way better treatment than he deserved.
Jim is refusing to call andy "drew" because he hates when andy calls him "tuna" but andy won't stop doing it. So why should Jim respect andy's desires to be called something when andy doesn't respect Jim's? Not a red flag, just andy reaping what he's sown.
I don’t recall Jim ever telling Andy that he dislikes being called tuna. It’s not Andy’s fault Jim has grown resentful over time if he refuses to let Andy know.
Happy y'all put this together!! He yucked everyone's yum!! haha over time I start to see how he wasn't just the "normal" guy in the office, like he believed himself to be.
I get that it makes for a catchy video title, but none of these are red flags. They are poor decisions by Jim, but he ultimately grows as a character. That's why the show is so great, because all of the characters are so real. Pam gets more courageous, Michael becomes more socially adept, and Jim learns to put others first before selfish impulse, especially after he almost loses Pam.
Well I disagree with a few points. First refusing to call Andy new name, well Andy did call him Tuna and actually always calls him that. Then bullying Ryan - well Ryan may had good point that he procrastinates a lot, but he did do it to bully Jim first, so. And lastly refusing the apology, was it really an apology when he was flexing with his past and the present too? Thats called petty not a red flag I would say
That's true but he is being criticized the most probably because how controversial he is. Like so many people think he's so great which adds fuel to the fire of criticism. But seriously he and Pam(Michael with Pam I guess) are what is keeping this office balanced on the fence between ecstasy and insane.
I'm convinced all these Jim haters are just dumb. They have ridiculous expectations and don't understand how human beings or relationships work at all.
I always thought that Jim could’ve used a very simple excuse for letting Michael fall into the Koi Pond: if he had tried to grab Michael, he would’ve risked falling in himself.
He also had his hands in his pockets and wasn’t thinking about it when he reflexively moved away. I always thought that scene was ridiculous and meant to show how everyone in the office likes to blow things out of proportion, using something they’ve heard to influence whatever they’re actually seeing
@Blaze0im2ob, thank you! The haters in this comment thread are really missing the point. Yes, Jim's imperfect (and I have to note that his conduct during the phone call with Pam, beginning at 8:14 in this video, is his character's absolute all-time nadir). But the thing I think you have to love about him is that in a world that often seems dominated by mindless cheerleaders like Michael, Jim is the ironist, the skeptic. He refuses to get "fired up" about stupid stuff just because someone else says to. He's not going to buy into other people's premises without examining them carefully. It's known as critical thinking, and we need more of it.
Thank you for this. I’ve grown to realize how much of an a hole Jim is. That being said I have never thought that Jim “let” Michael fall in the Koi Pond.
A deleted scene was shown from the episode once. It was before the koi pond, but I don’t remember exactly what it was, but to me it justified Jim ‘letting’ Michael fall in.

"Unprovoked"?! Are you serious? Look me in the eye and tell me having to work next to someone as full of himself as Dwight for eight hours a day wouldn't drive you around the bend and maybe lead you to take some kind of action.
@@tomh.2405I can confidently say I wouldn't do pranks like that to them. It would either be dealing with it, or, like a regular adult, talk to my superiors / HR about it. Maybe try to move desks. What he did was childish... it made for great television though, definitely a funny character
i think this just demonstrates that the writers wanted to show us real people and not unrealistic characters. i mean, i think i relate to the office the most of all the shows i've watched so far, for that exact reason. the characters have their own personalities and flaws, they feel so real. and i think it's good to point the red flags out too, but i don't see the point of saying he's a bad person. he's honestly just a normal individual with flaws, like everyone else.
Unpopular opinion in UK but US Office was far superior. The only exception of Jim. Martin Freeman's 'Tim' was spot on. Both were 'King of the Fools' but considering they both were unmotivated, in a dead end job in a dull part of the world Tim's was self deprecating humor worked and never made his ribbing of others jerky, where as Jim acted quite up himself, especially to people who were not mentally on his level. This made him just as jerky as anyone else. He was the only character to never really get his comeuppance either which he certainly deserved.
i always forget about when Jim was a jerk to Pam over the phone like that about the recital... I always hold them in this pedestal in my mind but like that was not cool of him. Still love Jim though :D
i actually really appreciate that the show had the whole philly arc - it shows that no marriage or relationship is perfect, and that under pressure and stress, anyone can lash out and not be a good partner.
My unpopular opinion is that Jim did Andy a favour by hiding his phone in the ceiling. Andy desperately needed anger management (which is seen when we first meet his character and Jim puts his calculator in Jello), and while that wasn't Jim's intention and it doesn't excuse his theft of Andy's property, in the long run, it was a good thing for Andy and it helped him seek help and become a better man (until Angela but still-)
Jim tried to grow because he didn’t like his job very much. Some people judged Pam for not fully supporting him, using as an example how Jim supported her when she was in New York. But she didn’t leave two kids at home for Jim to take care of and provide for. The episodes made it clear that Jim had a much better time and even lied to Pam about not enjoying himself when he clearly was. Meanwhile, she was struggling with their kids, like when they had lice, and she didn’t tell him to avoid worrying him. Lying to Pam throughout season 9 is his biggest red flag.
Pam was a red flag for not letting Jim pursue his dream in Philly. And for what, so they could keep living and working in a small town in dead end jobs? Always bothered me that she tried to stop him from taking a once in a lifetime opportunity
The company sounded like a one way ticket to both of them in debt, it’s a self startup with a pretty mediocre pitch and required him to move for work leaving her alone with the kids. Not communicating that type of huge decision is unbelievable and definitely a tick in the bad partner column. It would be one thing if it was a “dream” that didn’t have exponential consequences on their income but it could have really been bad for both of them, and that’s on Jim.
Honestly i think the thing with Ryan wasn't that bad. Also the koi pond- maybe he just didn't want to fall in helping him But i think it was messed up when he didn't invite Michael to his party and also that he kinda pushed himself on Pam that night at the casino. But these things don't really make Jim a bad guy, they just make him more human.
Jim literally carried this show. There were arguably way more moments of him being supportive to everyone. Yeah still love him. And these so called "red flags" aren't even actually red flags, just normal human flaws.
Nah I'm letting him off the hook 100% for letting Michael fall in the Koi pond. Knowing Michael, it was the right thing to do. All trying to help would've achieved is make sure he pulled Jim into the pond with him.
This video seems designed to spark discussion and engagement, which is fair, but labeling these moments as 'red flags' feels a bit exaggerated. What we're seeing here are examples of Jim's very human immaturity-flaws that make him relatable. Over the course of the series, he clearly cares deeply for his friends and partner, and it's because of them that he grows and improves as a person, just like many other characters in The Office. Growth is part of what makes these characters so compelling.
the ultimate red flag is the amount of times people (mostly Michael) have disrespected or harassed Pam in front of him and he does nothing...

I agree with all of it EXCEPT the Ryan bits. Ryan bullied Jim when he was in power. And his apology was half-hearted, using the court-ordered community service. Ryan got way better treatment than he deserved.
If he is a red flag, im a red nation.
then you're a flag nation
And if he’s a red nation then I gotta be Mars
Jim is definitely a bad person, if you don't see the red flags then you need to look harder.
Jim is refusing to call andy "drew" because he hates when andy calls him "tuna" but andy won't stop doing it. So why should Jim respect andy's desires to be called something when andy doesn't respect Jim's? Not a red flag, just andy reaping what he's sown.
Most of us have had to deal with Andy types at our work. Obnoxious and irritating. Jim was right.
I don’t recall Jim ever telling Andy that he dislikes being called tuna. It’s not Andy’s fault Jim has grown resentful over time if he refuses to let Andy know.
Andy went through anger management and changed as a person. Jim is stooping down to old Andy’s level out of spite. It’s a red flag
@@Bleeblooplu Old Andy's level of what?
@@Shade-pu1lx Andy wouldn't listen regardless, that's literally what his character is like. Have you not watched the whole show?
In the whole "buying a house without telling Pam" sequence, you conveniently left out Pam's reaction, which was one of pure joy and gratitude.
Sounds like a red flag on Jim's part and a green flag on Pam's. Good for her for not getting upset with him over such a risky decision.
Jim putting up with Andy calling him big Tuna all that time is justification for practically anything that happened with them.
If you don’t like something, but you never communicate it then that’s on you.
@@Majora48please
@@Majora48Jim was the new guy in the office and didn’t know about anybody’s personality yet. Jim’s style is NOT confrontational
Even if not for the big tuna incident, if andy has the freedom to call Jim what he wants, so does Jim. And Andy is his fucking name... So...
Happy y'all put this together!! He yucked everyone's yum!! haha over time I start to see how he wasn't just the "normal" guy in the office, like he believed himself to be.
The only "normal and reasonable" person in that office was Oscar.
"He yucked everyone's yum"
You actually wrote that?
@@warlock_ri agree but not when he was secretly w the senator behind angelas back
He's the classic blonde guy who bullies nerds in an 80's movie
Did we see the same show?
FINALLY! I've been waiting for this LOL
Yes! Finally, someone noticed that!
Why did him rejecting the fist bump make me want to cry
Well I disagree with a few points. First refusing to call Andy new name, well Andy did call him Tuna and actually always calls him that. Then bullying Ryan - well Ryan may had good point that he procrastinates a lot, but he did do it to bully Jim first, so. And lastly refusing the apology, was it really an apology when he was flexing with his past and the present too? Thats called petty not a red flag I would say
5:29 this was justified
100%. I’m a number one Jim hater but in that situation he was totally justified. Ryan was trying to force him out of his job out of spite
Jim is the every man stand in. This makes sense because a lot of people are disingenuous jerks.
Everyone in the office other than Darryl has more red flags than Jim.
That's true but he is being criticized the most probably because how controversial he is. Like so many people think he's so great which adds fuel to the fire of criticism. But seriously he and Pam(Michael with Pam I guess) are what is keeping this office balanced on the fence between ecstasy and insane.
The guy who is separated and screams to his ex, and doesnt know how to treat his daughter? Yeah no red flags, laughable.
@@gaboelexo it appears you think I said no red flags which I did not.
OMG the real red flags about which I forgot by his nice attitude and relationship with Pam.
They could never make me hate you Jim halpert
I'm convinced all these Jim haters are just dumb. They have ridiculous expectations and don't understand how human beings or relationships work at all.
Yeah i guess some people just like to reflect out their insecurities
So he’s like every other character in this show
The Pam crying scene always makes me sooooo mad. I know he was stressed and stuff but come on! It was just a mistake 😢
Jim is red flag, Pam is red wine.
Pam has tons of red flags too lol
I always thought that Jim could’ve used a very simple excuse for letting Michael fall into the Koi Pond: if he had tried to grab Michael, he would’ve risked falling in himself.
He also had his hands in his pockets and wasn’t thinking about it when he reflexively moved away. I always thought that scene was ridiculous and meant to show how everyone in the office likes to blow things out of proportion, using something they’ve heard to influence whatever they’re actually seeing
Wait are we really ragging on Jim for being a complex character with some flaws that specifically led the show to be more interesting?
its a compilation bro its not that serious
Yes, he's a jerk
Being interesting doesn’t excuse everything
Wait, being confused by a random attempted fist bump from a middle aged coworker is a red flag?
He wasn't confused. He acted confused to make Toby look bad. And it wasn't random, and Toby's age has nothing to do with it.
@@siler7 You are slow asf if you really think that he likes Toby
@@WakeUpLilBroHe didn’t say that ?
Imo it’s a red flag because he purposely reacted in a way that would humiliate his coworker, it’s pretty inconsiderate.
@@nctsgrasswatch the show and you’ll realize Jim and Toby don’t have the best of relationships 😂😂😂(goes both ways)
2:54 Burn. Darryl on fire 🤣
ITS JIM VERSUS DARRYL AND ITS THE CLASH OF THE TITANS. ON ONE SIDE YOU HAVE JIM AND HE IS MAD. ON ANOTHER YOU HAVE DARRYL AND HES MAD. SO THATS ABOUT IT.
Jim can be one of the most toxic people in the office. He even led Andy into a massive breakdown
you’re totally right
Yes.. if you take out Dwight, Michael, Angela,Andy , Meredith, Oscar, Kelly and Philyps from The Office, then yes, you have one of the most toxic people there
@@agustinaquino1528how is Dwight toxic
@rynor2691 I won't even answer that
And to think all andy had to do was not annoy him...
Okay the only one I don’t agree with is Jim bullying Ryan when he got arrested. Ryan had it coming😂
Jim being human
I've always viewed his whole behavior with Dwight as so red flags but its a comedy show so...
3:25 buying a house without telling your partner is one of the biggests red flags
No no.. Ryan deserves to be mocked
Making a move on engaged Pam...
now put together a compilation of him being a green flag
What he did to Katy during the work event that he invited her to, was next level pig.
The red flag is y'all thinking it's bad to mock Ryan
Okay. Now this format but green flags of Michael Scott!
He also was very mean to Angela, suspiciously he never was like that with any man, even when they offended PaN
How do we not mention the million mean-spirited, unprovoked pranks Jim played on Dwight?
"Unprovoked"?! Are you serious? Look me in the eye and tell me having to work next to someone as full of himself as Dwight for eight hours a day wouldn't drive you around the bend and maybe lead you to take some kind of action.
@@tomh.2405I can confidently say I wouldn't do pranks like that to them. It would either be dealing with it, or, like a regular adult, talk to my superiors / HR about it. Maybe try to move desks.
What he did was childish... it made for great television though, definitely a funny character
@ Fair enough. There's definitely a distinction between a sitcom that shows over-the-top situations for comic effect, and real life.
3:24 just when I was about to think about modern family
“michael cant handle this”😂😂😂😂😂
THANK YOU OML
I’d say about half of these are real red flags, especially the company in Philly
Ryan commited fraud, hes fair game
i think this just demonstrates that the writers wanted to show us real people and not unrealistic characters. i mean, i think i relate to the office the most of all the shows i've watched so far, for that exact reason. the characters have their own personalities and flaws, they feel so real. and i think it's good to point the red flags out too, but i don't see the point of saying he's a bad person. he's honestly just a normal individual with flaws, like everyone else.
jim is the master of gaslighting
I always feel bad for Toby
Everyone has flaws he took out his anger on her which is something which he shouldn’t have done
i actually really appreciate that the show had the whole philly arc - it shows that no marriage or relationship is perfect, and that under pressure and stress, anyone can lash out and not be a good partner.
YES, THANKS.
My unpopular opinion is that Jim did Andy a favour by hiding his phone in the ceiling. Andy desperately needed anger management (which is seen when we first meet his character and Jim puts his calculator in Jello), and while that wasn't Jim's intention and it doesn't excuse his theft of Andy's property, in the long run, it was a good thing for Andy and it helped him seek help and become a better man (until Angela but still-)
2:38 don't do this! when you do you make a mess when the janitor takes that bag to the garbage cans. leaks all over the floor.
8:10 Ha, *“Yeah!”,* then that modest puppy-eyed look at the camera.
the ryan ones arent really red flags
they could never make me hate u jim
The fact he doesn't even respect Pam multiple times and nade her cry unnecessarily. She's doing so much and he doesn't even appreciate it!
This show is called 'The office' and not 'This is Us'. Jim's pranks and expressions make the show very funny
Genuine question but could Jim be labeled as narcissistic?
Remove the Ryan stuff (the bullying aas totally deserved), add the Karen stuff
Ok who told Toby about fist bumps?
Also the koi pond- maybe he just didn't want to fall in helping him
But i think it was messed up when he didn't invite Michael to his party and also that he kinda pushed himself on Pam that night at the casino.
But these things don't really make Jim a bad guy, they just make him more human.
Jim an a-hole for doing that to Toby 😂
I'm glad everyone else is seeing the Jim I always saw
nah still love him. Nobody's perfect and Jim is still one of the best characters on this show.
Unpopular opinion - Jim was justified in his frustration with Pam messing up the dance video especially with how flippant she was about messing it up.
Yeah I ain’t calling Andy “Drew.”
and who in their right mind would dump Amy Adams??? that is red flag behavior indeed......
Jim was just not trying to fall in, and don’t forget the part when he helped Michael out of a very shallow pond looking ridiculous.
Jim and Pam were bullies, using Dwight, somthings maybe justified but not everything is. Dwight is the real hero.
Jim liked to trat Dwight how his brothers treated him. As well as the women he dated.
Jim was a red flag all the time. And the fact that he was 'the. nice guy of the office' says everything.
The last one gets me everytime
“I’m saying, ‘We’re not watching it.’”
I love Jim but I had to skip over where he makes Pam cry that’s beyond painful to watch.
Jim always had a lot of flaws which never got flagged in the shown. He was the worst office manager. He also never treated Toby with respect.
I never liked Jim from the First Season. I knew a few guys in college who were similar.
