The piping looks good, but I'm pretty sure it would have run better with one carburettor for each cylinder. All those corners and the looooong way between the carb and the cylinder can't be good for optimizing of the mixture.
@@austinsawyer8853 Most big litter engines in the early 1900s were like that, specially on planes since it improved air cooling a lot, looks hella wonky tho

I once saw a turbo Datsun pickup with a sidedraft carb sitting where the drivers side headlight should be bolted right to the turbo intake. Behind the turbo was about 3ft of intake. Needless to say I was surprised the first time I saw an intake that long too.
What's the method for knowing what size carb and length of intakes I have a 3 cylinder built by someone else not finished, I have ignition system working but can't get it to run past the prime on present intake system
This would make a great parasail engine! Put a propeller on it and all you need is a cage around the motor's propeller to protect you and blow that thing into a parachute to get it inflated and you will be flying in a powered parachute in no time flat! Great video's, much love for the video's from American backyard mechanic!
The construction sense and, above all, the workmanship, almost in a cottage industry, although with the use of a milling machine, did the trick. Would be best as a dry sump engine (probably is). Expect it would need drains with taps to drain the bottom cylinders after the residual oil settles in them or compression lock would be an issue starting it later.
All that exhaust plumbing looks like a trombone! Beautiful, steady idle on it. Any thought of doing separate carbs for the cylinders? One heck of a lot of work…design, engineering, machining, assembly! 👍👍👍

I noticed the same thing, but I'm not sure why. I would need to study his timing chain setup to be sure but apparently one cylinder is turning the cam backward and required the rockers to be modified to run on the opposing lobe. Four strokes require the intake to follow the exhaust, so if that is the case (one cam turning backwards) then the difference in valve lift and duration between intake and exhaust lobes of the stock cams would require that (one) cam timing to be adjustable and would still affect performance of that cylinder. It is so smooth on the two bottom cylinders his homemade crank and rods must be spot on. *Bottom line, it is a masterpiece he can be very proud of*

very impressive build a few pointer from my experience 1. cam chain needs more than 1/3 engagement on main sproket ( extra idle gear will fix that) 2. intake and exhaust pipes should be on opposite side of engine to avoid fuel over heating 3. dry sump will help stop oil running into lower cylinder when stationery also better for cooling
