I think what makes 2012 Leo the best version for now is that the show balances his ninja and teenager personality. I've never thought I would want fanboying Leo, but I just thank Ciro Nieli and all 2012 show writers for that. I know people would say 2003 Leo is the best and he had the best arcs, but outside of farmhouse arc he didn't have much and 2012 show did his healing struggles a lot better. Some would say about his arc in season 4 being the peak of his character, and I noticed you saying about not watching much of 2003 series, but to me that arc as forced as Shadow personality changes in 2010's Sonic games and comics, Leo even acted like an edgelord out of nowhere just like Shadow.
I doubt 2003 Leo is that good, and I said why. It applies to all of the movies and the 1987 cartoon. He's just "the leader". He has no more personality than that.
